Title: Tons of great recipes and ideas!
Review: Let me start off by saying, I am not a baker. Period. Not even using boxed mixes. I can barely use an oven. However, having tried Heather's cupcake and frosting creations at her former cupcake shop, Dollop, I knew I had to buy her cookbook as soon as it came out, as an attempt to relive those treats. It is very impressive! The book starts off with some basic tips on baking (especially helpful for those of us who are inexperienced in the kitchen), moves on to basic recipes, and gets more and more adventurous and intriguing as it goes on. (Yes, there is salad in the book!)A dinner party seemed like the perfect opportunity to try out a couple of recipes. I chose the Chocolate Cupcakes and Peanut Butter Buttercream Frosting (which was featured on Heather's winning episode of Cupcake Wars on the Food Network.) The recipes were very easy to follow, and I was able to make them without a stand mixer. The Chocolate Cupcakes were moist, and had a wonderful consistency and a perfect chocolate flavor... not too light, not too heavy. I liked that the recipe used applesauce instead of oil. The Peanut Butter Buttercream was airy and sweet. Finally, a dessert I wasn't embarrassed to share with family and friends. I used my leftover buttercream on celery sticks and granola bars... and of course, ate it right off of a spoon. Heavenly!Next up on my list to make are the Mint Chocolate Cookie Trifle, S'mores Push Pop Parfaits, Cookie Dough Frosting, and Strawberry Balsamic Goat Cheese Frosting... YUM. I know my husband would love to try the Maple Bacon Frosting. Thank you, Heather, for getting me into the kitchen and sparking an interest in baking!

Title: Great frosting recipes!
Review: I ordered this book in search of the perfect vanilla buttercream! I tried it out today and it gets 10 thumbs up! Best vanilla buttercream recipe I have come across yet! It was light and fluffy and not a very overpowering butter taste. I plan on using it to make cupcakes for my 3 year old son's birthday party. I also tried the vanilla cupcake recipe which was very moist and delicious. Thank you Heather Saffer!!

Title: Definitely a nice addition to your collection
Review: Let me start by saying I have not yet used any recipe in here, but I have compared the recipes to my *tried and true* staple recipes and they were close enough to confirm the results will be fantastic. To be fair, I thought this will be another 'cutesy' cookbook, but I was impressed by the layout, the thought process in creating the book and the use of real ingredients. Those who appreciate really good baked goodies know what I mean when I say how many times have you forced yourself to eat something that was offered to you as "GREAT!!!" and you calculate the number of calories you just wasted eating crap food. LOL - that's just me.If I'm going to eat a cake, it had better be made with real butter and sugar, not splenda and margarine because it's all the same thing.Yea, you can cut a few corners here and there and substitute some applesauce for oil when baking cupcakes (as she did), but that's fine as long as it's not overdone and you have other great flavors.I'm not too crazy about using packaged biscuit dough because it's not that hard to make your own biscuits that will taste infinitely better. This is a frosting book, not a full-on baking book so I'll give her some latitude but homemade Strawberry Limoncello frosting on store-bought biscuit roll is like sprinkles on a turd. :)Still a great book that also gives you room to use your imagination, so it's a plus for me.Congrats to the author on a successful book.

Title: DUDE!
Review: I have been wanting to make the Ultimate Dude Cupcake ever since I saw Heather on Cupcake Wars. I was so excited to receive the Dollop frosting book and that it included the award winning cupcake! The recipe was so easy to follow and the ingredients are available pretty much anywhere. The chocolate cake recipe, the cookie dough filling and peanut butter frosting are all my favorite parts of a cupcake! I highly suggest anyone who wants an amazing treat for friends or family make this ASAP!!

Title: way to impress the boyfriend's family
Review: I've never been one to make my own frosting...that's why they sell it in the baking isle, right? But I just whipped up some of the Vanilla Buttercream (I figured that would be a good one for beginners) and it's delicious! It was simple, the instructions were spot on and I'm excited to present my holiday cookies complete with homemade frosting. Lots of girls can make cookies, but cookies with homemade frosting are something special (a reflection of the girl who made them). Definitely glad I picked up The Dollop Book of Frosting, looking forward to trying all kinds of new things from this book.

Title: Disappointed
Review: Perhaps good for new cooks, but nothing new or innovative. These recipes are and have been readily available from any grandma, aunt, mom and certainly, the internet. Give her credit for her entrepreneurship, but glad I only spent .99 on this.

Title: Great recipes and tips
Review: Fabulous recipes that really work. Even though I bake a lot, I'm not an "expert," and really appreciated the tips in this book. Many of the icings (such as the Clove Buttercream and Cashew Sriracha Frosting) are unusual as well as delicious. I recommend this to home bakers who are looking for something a little off the beaten path.
