Title: Love this fryer!
Review: My old fryer which I only has a couple months cuz I had to literally turn the entire fryer upside down to pour oil out and it was so messy I finally just threw it in the trash. I wanted one that I could remove the vessel and clean easily. I ordered two from here and they both came the same day. I took the books to both out and read them. The larger one (TFal) that had the oil holding tank on the bottom was just too big snd cumbersome. And you needed a degree to figure out how to use it and assemble it. The other (Presto) had too sharp of edges on the vessel and the reviews were not good. So I returned both and ordered this one. I got it yesterday snd used it last night for frozen beer battered onion rings. When I first looked inside I was kind of leery about the min and max line looking like it was too small to fry anything right. I washed it like it said and poured almost two new bottles of oil in to the max line. It heated up quicker than they say it would. I was amazed at how much food it held. I love the squares shaped basket. On the package of onion rings it said 2 1/2 minutes. I looked and wanted them a little darker do I left them in for another minute. I hung the basket on the hook and they did not sit in the oil while draining like others say they do. The onion rings were wonderful! Just be sure when you open the lid with the button to kind if hold your hand on top so it doesnât fly open. After a couple hours I poured the oil into the oil bottle . No residue came out. Instead it stayed in the vessel and i washed it out and used a paper towel to wipe the residue out. I love this fryer and it is very lightweight to carry back to my pantry shelf. Wish I wouldnât have wasted time with ordering the others. Highly recommended and great price!

Title: Great fryer
Review: I've had multiple deep fryers over the years. Nothing beats deep fried fish and chips. Unfortunately, the last fryer I bought was a presto. I've also had a few fry daddy's in my time, but the last one was absolute garbage. Didn't get hot enough so your food was soggy and saturated with oil. All but stopped deep frying, but decided to give it another try with this Westbend. OMG. A world of difference. Food was crisp and brown. If anything I need to reduce my time and/or temperature. Can't wait to use it again. I think the square design might hold more, plus it's appealing to look at.

Title: Temperature recomendations are off
Review: Just put it at the max temperature and it will work. Setting aside that, it works great. Obviously you will have a little smell of frying in your house but nothing intolerable. For me, is worth the price. I like it a lot, and I already have used it three times with no problems.

Title: I Wanted To Love It - But I Hate It!
Review: Let me start by saying I'm a Senior. I use to own a Snack Food manufacturing business in the 70's and 80's. My factory was inspected daily by the USDA. I manufactured Potato Chips and Fried Pork Rinds (Chicharones). With this said.. I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!I received this pretty Westbend Fryer yesterday afternoon via USPS.Pro's:» This fryer is pretty.» This fryer has a wonderful concept of enclosing the heating element within the oil container bottom. Great idea!» This fryer is easy to clean. This fryer has an easy filter to remove and clean.» The fry basket is large enough to fry one large potato at one time cut into standard size fries of 1/8" diameter.» This fryer is the right size for most families.Con's:» As you can see in the photos - with the temperature ready light ON GREEN - With the Dial set to 360 F the temperature never got to even 350 F the REQUIRED temperature for frying Fries and many other products. It only hit 321.3 F.» As you can see in the photos - with the dial set to 375 F - it never got higher than 344.1 F. Again, this is way TOO LOW!» The RECOVERY time is too slow!» » Note that I used a CALIBRATED instant read thermometer to take these measurments.» » Note that I even waited 30 minutes with the Dial set at 375 hoping the temperature would hit at least 350 F. It never did.How I Cooked:I used my commercial potato cutter to slice 2 potatoes into the most common size of 1/4" diameter. The proper method of making Fries is to wash them in cold water and rotate them by hand to get the potato starch out. When the water turns milky, pour it off. The next step is very important. Dry them as much as possible. This will keep the frying oil from bubbling (vaporizing) as it turns the water to steam and tiny oil particles attach to the steam particles. Dry your chips or fries as much as possible. The next step is to blanch the fries for about 3 - 4 minutes in your oil set at 350 F. They are NOT to be completely fried. They will still be white in color. Pull them out of the oil and let the oil on them drain back into the fryer. Let them rest until their temperature comes down to room temperature.Next, bring the fryer up to 375 F and fry your Fries for about 3 minutes or until golden brown. After draining, the fries should come out warm and crispy. I like to use Lowery's Seasoned Salt instead of regular salt for excellent flavor. In conclusion, I had to return this Westbend Fryer simply because the thermostat never brought the oil up to the correct temperature. If you purchase this fryer make sure you check the temperature as shown on the dial. If it does not correspond, then return it! It's obviously made in China and even their manual says Printed In China. The Westbend Warranty is for 1 year with several stipulations and one of them is if it has to be returned to them (not Amazon), you'll have to pay the freight to/from them if they repair it.

Title: Easy to use!
Review: My husband wanted a deep fryer, and we got this. So easy to use! Doesn't splatter grease all over because of lid, either. So quick to heat, too. And spoil easy to clean! We love it.

Title: Outstanding
Review: We have owned a few fryer to fry wings and fries and this is by far the best we have ever owned. We love the way the handle folds down to get it out the way. It warms up quickly and the temperate control is above and beyond. It is very compact and easy to use. I would highly recommend this fryer.

Review: The heating elements arenât exposed. That means more cooking space and more importantly, you can do beer battered food without it sticking to the heating element. I have 3 deep fryers (different uses) and this one is my favourite.
