Title: Much to my surprise, these work against outdoor cats!
Review: We have two indoor cats who like to frequent our screened-in back porch. However, our older female screams like she’s in a cat fight anytime a neighborhood outdoor cats walk through our backyard. It’s quite a thing to be woken up in the middle of the night to the sounds of a non-existent cat fight.Well, I ordered two of these with the idea to put one on each side of the house and facing the gate on each side. I’ve tried so many other sure fire techno gizmos in the past that I was Leary to believe the reviews. Well, after a few months these things work. When I received them, I charged them each for 8 hours, don’t bother looking for the charging LED indicator mentioned in the directions…as they don’t exist. There is no visual or audible aid to let you know when charging has completed. In our Florida sunshine, I haven’t had to recharge either in the months since they were purchased. I haven’t both set to be rather sensitive and both are on setting 5. Since deploying these, we haven’t had a single stray cat enter our backyard, as confirmed by our camera system. I haven’t noticed a raccoon either. Opossums, yeah, they seem undeterred by these. So far, I’m very pleasantly surprised that these are both working and the solar charging system actually works.

Title: Works Wonders - Keeps All Critters Away Naturally
Review: The Broox 2024 Upgraded Solar Animal Repellent has been a fantastic addition to our yard! We live near a wooded area, and before using this, we constantly dealt with squirrels, raccoons, and even the occasional deer munching on our plants. This repellent emits a harmless yet effective ultrasonic frequency that really seems to deter all types of animals, from cats to rabbits. I especially appreciate the motion detection feature, so it only activates when needed, saving energy. It’s waterproof too, which has been perfect for our rainy climate. Overall, it’s a highly effective, eco-friendly solution for keeping the yard critter-free

Title: Be advised
Review: The device functions as specified and is well built. However, consider the following guidance from the manual and our experience:(1) “the device may be audible by some individuals … There is no harm for human or animal bodies … (but) Just for providing comfort … for children, try not to install the repellent in children’s playgrounds. (Caution, 1, page 10)Our experience: the ultrasonic noise was offensive to our grand children and three adults (not me, but I’m old). I opened the box - not hard to do - and cut the speaker leads leaving only the flash working. The effectiveness of the flash alone was inconclusive.(2) ”avoid installing the device in shadow” (Important Tips, 2a, page 3)Our experience: We have a lot of shade in some areas that needed protecting so keeping the device charged was an issue for us.3) According to the manual, you may have to try different modes and even change them every once in a while as some animals may get used to it. (page 4). “Having patience is the key to get the suitable results from these kinds of repellents. It usually takes 2 - 4 weeks to notice the significant difference … “. (page 4)Our expectation: We were expecting something we installed, turned on, and forgot about. We were not prepared for the amount of “fiddling” it would take nor the amount of time it would take to get effective protection.4) The only design “flaws” we encountered had to do with installation. The mounting holes on the back of the device were the “hole and slot” type. Screws or nails would be driven into the supporting structure leaving the head protruding slightly and spaced to match the hole pattern on the device. Position the device on the nail heads so they are in the holes then push down so the shank of the nail is in the slot. Very straight forward. However, hole and slot were too small to accommodate any suitable hardware I had on hand. The stake is a thin wall aluminum tube. The manual recommends digging a hole to avoid damage. So true. We had some hard ground and driving it in with a hammer distorted the tube making mounting of the device difficult but not impossible.Originally, I rated this “one star” following Amazon’s suggestion to rate it based on your experience, which, for our situation, was less than satisfying. However, in retrospect, that could leave a distorted impression as our issues - outside the design “flaws” mentioned - have to do more with the nature of these types of repellers rather than this brandSo …Be advised: the noise may bother you; shady areas may be an issue; you are going to have to be patient; and you may have some installation issues. For our situation, it was not ideal but it may be for you. You decide.
