Reinforced composite outer cover features a slotted barrier wall that keeps grass, leaves, twigs, blossoms and other common yard debris from reaching the drain. Second stage composite perforated screen catches smaller debris. Installs in seconds without tools. Integrated guide pin holds it in position over the drain. The cover and perforated screen are easily separated to spray clean with a garden hose.

Review: No more rising water, this product keeps leafs and dirt away from the drain. I don’t need to remember to clean out the drain, now I just clean when required. (But recommend cleaning based on your experience).

Title: Wish they made a bigger one
Review: This works pretty decently but I wish they made a bigger version. We live in a woodsy area, and when it rains really hard even this defender gets overwhelmed with debris. And then water gets into my garage. I guess it would be less of an issue if I had more vertical clearance between the drain and my garage, but it starts flooding into my garage before the water level rises enough to make use of the holes on top of the drain defender. After some searching, I found that Quick Dam bags are useful for this issue. They swell up with water when they become wet and shrink back down when they dry -- so you can just leave them in place all the time (with maybe a rock on them so they don't blow away) and they're relatively unobtrusive.

Title: It's like a miracle
Review: I don't know about you, but there are certain things my husband and I struggle with in our home that we thought there was no hope for...one of the worst things was living in fear of every rainstorm because the drains in our driveway or the side of the house would clog with debris (no matter how often we swept) and the water would back up and flood the basement. It was to the point that if we heard rain in the middle of the night we had to get up and check the drains...and often saw a small lake forming and had to go running out in rainboots at 4am to clear them. After a particularly terrible storm I did a search thinking we can't be the only ones with this issue, and turns out I was right! After reading the reviews I ordered one for same-day delivery - it arrived just in time to test out with more massive rain that day and it was a MIRACLE to see it at work. Debris gathered around the sides and the water was still able to get to the drain, just as it was supposed to. We almost wept with relief and joy - we had no idea there was such a simple, ingenious device waiting to eliminate so much stress in our life!! I instantly ordered another one for the side of the house, and am writing this review with sincere gratitude to the makers of this product! 🙂

Title: Keeps water draining where it should
Review: During heavy rains we had a problem with dirt and leaves blocking the drain outside the side door into the garage, resulting in a waterfall coming in under the door. This works well although we did have to remove the fine screen which tended to trap dirt and get clogged, interfering with drainage.

Title: Amazingly Effective
Review: I bought this for my mother's patio, which was always the sight of a small pond as leaves would quickly clog the single round drain opening in any rain event.I'm amazed at how well this thing worked.Rain storm after rain storm came and went and the pond never returned.I'd give it 10 stars but 5 is all Amazon will allow.

Review: We are extremely happy with how well this product works. It has stopped the flooding by the walk out door. Yes you still need to clean the walk out area periodically but now we do not need to worry about flooding during heavy rain storms when debris blow down into the the walk out area.

Review: Had an issue in the alley between my house and neighbour where, if a big rain storm rolled in, I'd be awake all night checking to make sure the drain didn't get covered with leaves or other debris. Bought this drain defender hoping it would work, and what a difference it has made. Not once have I had any leaves block the drain. No more middle of the night runs to check the drain during heavy rains. It's expensive, but well worth it.
