Title: Loved This Book!!
Review: Douglas Preston is simply a marvelous writer!! He wrote this book in the 1980's and his style captures you and keeps you - at that early stage of his career. Mr. Preston's love of the museum is so evident and makes you want to learn more about the history involved in this amazing museum in NYC.Dinosaurs in the Attic was fact filled, thought provoking, entertaining NONSTOP. This book is a treasure and I highly recommend it to everyone who enjoys a great tale of adventure and history. It was so entertaining, even though it is nonfiction, Preston made me want to read more and THEN(unfortunately) it was over. Wanted it to go on and on.What a great friend Douglas Preston is to the museum - great book to read before going to American Museum of Natural History.

Title: History
Review: I've never understood how people are bored by history. Perhaps its the presentation? Preston doesn't suffer from that flaw. I find his stroll through the American Museum of Natural History to be exciting and enticing.

Title: Informative, entertaining, and a lot of typos
Review: Dinosaurs in the Attic is a delightful, informative book containing wonderful stories about the people, animals, and fossils in the American Museum of Natural History. The book offers accounts ranging from overseas expeditions sponsored by the museum to how the bones of P. T. Barnum's Jumbo the Elephant came into the museum's possession. This is a great book diminished only by the many, many typographical errors that pepper almost every page. It's a shame that the publishers didn't invest a few more hours in editing the text. Other than that, this is a very entertaining book written by Douglas Preston who once worked at the AMNH and went on to co-author the Pendergast series of novels with Lincoln Child.

Title: A new look at the Museum of Natural History
Review: I read this book after reading Tyrannosaurus Canyon (a good read).I quickly went back to the museum that I visited so many times in the past with new eyes. How enjoyable. This is a must read for anyone planning a visit to the museum. The insight to how exhibits and items came to be makes one marvel at the perseverance of man. Now each corner of the museum holds a story and its fun to walk through and try to place events with locations (although after Relic, I look at the stairways a bit different). Don't miss this informative, yet very entertaining read.

Title: Not accurate to description
Review: The book was in relatively good condition. However, when I clicked on the copy that I wanted I selected âBuy Newâ. The book is not new. It is a preowned copy or at the very least a ânewâ book with damage. The good thing is that it isnât warped or stinky. Just a little misleading.

Title: One of my favorite books on the development of natural history museums
Review: One of my favorite books on the development of natural history museums. Some fascinating facts. I purchased a hard copy at New York's American Museum of Natural History and later bought other books on the same topic. I made it my mission to visit as many natural history museums as possible both in America and abroad. Recently I downloaded a copy into my kindle/smart phone so I could re-read it at my leisure.

Title: It was great!
Review: Apparently reviews have to be at least twenty characters long and I can't just have a star rating. I'm not great at describing things but I thought the book was amazing. I really enjoy his other works and this does not disappoint either. A great read filled with lots of interesting science and adventure. I definitely need to find more "arm chair tours" of museums and historical sites.

Title: A surprise.
Review: I have had this book on my "next to read" list for quite a while now. So, after having read many of this authors other offerings, I purchased this one on my Kindle and jumped in expecting a good mystery. Well, I got what I asked for but not what I expected. It is a mystery to me that a book this detailed and scientific could also be a really good read.I have visited the Museum of Natural History in New York City several times before but after reading this book I plan to go again with a much different prospective. This time I will view the exhibits with the knowledge that everything there took more time, more money and much more foresight than I would have believed.

Review: If you liked this, you should read Dry Store Room no 1, by Richard Fortey, which tells similar though more colourful and humorous stories about the Natural History Museum in London.
