Title: Plug & play with stellar sound.
Review: I recently upgraded to this system after moving from a REALLY old 5.1 virtual surround Sony amplifier/soundbar.It's my first experience with DTS:X/Atmos and I'm impressed for the cost. Probably the most stand out feature by far is the voice amplifier; we've all played shows/movies where the vocals are either too soft or too loud, this always makes voices crystal clear even in quieter movies or action packed scenes with movies; I'd always have to play with subtitles, especially older titles as you'd often have to increase the audio to hear anything. This feature does a great job of amplifying vocals without blowing up the other audio. It's also truly plug and play. While there's no EQ adjustment, it sounded great out of the box. I personally just increased the bass a bit.Now on to Atmos/Virtual DTS. Compared to my decade old Dolby audio soundbar, it does an admirable job "virtualizing" sound from left/right/above you. Is it going to perform as well as a true 3.1.2 system with dedicated speakers? No! However for a bedroom or something it's just about perfect. It has simple indicators that tell you if something is playing through Dolby/DTS (green) Atmos (cyan) and stereo. (blue) Depending on your source (Netflix, or supported show, it will adjust automatically to the highest available output)It's a shame the virtual technology hasn't really improved that much from a decade ago, but really you're never going to get that "true" surround sound experience without multiple speakers. For smaller spaces, apartments, etc, it's going to perform very well. For large entertainment rooms, you'd be better off with true multi speaker setups. With that said it's very loud. I keep it around 20/100 for a master bedroom. I could see it filling a larger space very easily if needed. It also "upscales" most stereo sound from older movies/shows to Dolby which is a nice touch. (Although not a novel feature, basically just levels the audio)Polk always delivers high quality audio, just don't expect a true "theater" experience with just a soundbar and subwoofer.

Title: This Sound Bar Is Great ! ( Real Reviewer )
Review: I just bought a Sony X93L with Dolby Atmos capability. Not a cheap TV. I knew I wanted a sound bar system for my living room that would do it justice. I looked & listened to sound systems by Sony, Bose, Sonos, Samsung, LG, Visio to name a few. Im a child of the 70s and grew up through the old school speakers with LOUD & LARGE surround sound home theater set ups. I love hearing all the small details around me. If i had unlimited cash I'd spent few grand on one of those systems. But i don't have that kind of money .... really I don't need that much sound system in my living room. I wanted a sound bar that would give separate bass and separation of some left and right and center channels and sound solid for movies, music and dialog. I didn't want a cheap sound either. When I listen to the brands i named before i honestly wanted to be impressed .... but just wasn't. It sounded good but many with a bar and sub together would be at least a $1000. Some much more. I came across this Polk Signa S4 and read the reviews. Polk has made solid sound for a long time. I took a chance and I'm glad i did. This sound bar is GREAT ! The build is very nice and solid. Remote is small and plastic but has very usable buttons especially the separate sound and bas volumes. Set up was fast, all needed cords included. It has very excellent center voice clarity. The other channels are distinct and create a wall of sound that "reaches out in to room before your TV and shifts left, right and up and down". It sounds really good and when your add the sub the bass flows in well but is also distinct and can be adjusted easily with the remote. If you want some bass rumble for those movies or thump for concert bass lines it can do it well. Is this system a full surround 7.1 plus sound experience? NO ! But you can really hear the shifts in channels reaching out in front of you from the array of speakers projection left, right, center and up. I personally found the bass in the front to the side of the bar by the TV is really good. But for me i placed the sub woofer behind me and got some really nice "surround like" feel that pulled all those sound bar channels all together to a more full room experience. Im totally satisfied and recommend this system. The price was $299 vs $1000 plus for some of the others. Amazon offered me a $200 gift card to sign up for their credit card making this sound bar cost $100. I was sold at $299 but at $100 it was a steal. Try it .... its a great living room system with Great value for the price. I Love It!

Review: I bought the S4 set after a lot of analysis. At this price point, it's the best on offer. The sound quality is simply amazing. The top-firing main speakers are rich, deep, and clear, and the sub kicks in at all the right moments. The system especially shines with our HD Blu-Ray system. I have zero regrets about this purchase. Polk isn't an electronics company with a speaker division, it's a speaker company that makes outstanding speakers. To the other reviewer who says this sounds like TV speakers - what?? I used a basic HDMI cable from the eARC output on my TV to the speaker bar and have had no problems; this ensures the volume can be controlled using the remotes for any device: TV, Blu Ray, whatever. You can adjust the Polk's preset equalizer settings and/or adjust the bass/treble using the included Polk remote control. There is simply no comparison to be made between a TV's embedded speakers and this soundbar system.
