Title: it's like $10, and the perfect starter book to get ...
Review: This book is rad! I don't know what other people are upset about...it's like $10, and the perfect starter book to get into baking doughnuts. They give yeast, baked, and I think cake recipes. Some people are saying there isn't variation, and that might be true for glazes and such, but make it your own! Experiment, try different stuff out. The recipes they give are totally sufficient and taste awesome, but it can easily be interpreted as just a "bare bones" start. The book is relatively small, so if you're buying it as just a coffee table book, might not be the best choice.I made vanilla, chocolate, and maple bacon my first time around, and they were absolutely killer. Can't wait to try some others!

Title: Why did they hide the cake and baked doughnut recipes?
Review: First of all I like the pictures! Even though it is a pretty tiny book, the amount of pictures was nice and especially showing what the Apple Fritters look like was a plus! I am glad they have three kinds of doughnuts, but I thought I was being punked when I couldn't find the recipe for cake and baked doughnuts. I decided to read through the recipes more carefully and realized that the cake recipe was used in the Vanilla Old-Fashioned Doughnuts recipe and that the baked doughnuts recipe was HIDDEN in the Funfetti Doughnuts recipe. I say hidden because it doesn't say in the description that these are the baked doughnuts, you have to read on and when you get down to the third from last paragraph it tells you to pour the batter in the pan. In the description of the baked doughnuts at the beginning of the book it says that it's a batter based recipe so I am assuming that this is the baked doughnut recipe. At the beginning of each "section" (and they should have separated it as such) they should have clearly marked what kind of doughnut recipe it is and then showcased the specific recipes that go along with that type of doughnut. It's just weird that they would have one page that clearly lists the recipe for the yeasted doughnut and then hide the other two kinds within a specific doughnut recipe. Unfortunately I cannot say at this time whether the doughnuts are good or not because I haven't experimented with the recipes but since we have this Covid-19 quarantine going on, I think I might have to make a batch of some tasty doughnuts. I will say I feel like this will be a promising endeavor because I have a specific Essentials of Baking book also written by William's and Sonoma and everything turned out fabulous!

Title: The basic yeast donut in this book..
Review: Which is for majority of this small little book, is just okay. It is edible, but not my go-to & definitely not donut store quality. It’s a little on the salty side and feels more like a bread than a donut. I’m hugely disappointed because most of the recipes are base on this yeast donut.

Review: I recently purchased two nonstick donut pans, and needed recipes to make baked donuts. This is an appetizing cookbook, and I look forward to trying out both baked and fried donuts. Tucson is not an area with a plethora of donut shops, so I want to be able to make my own when the urge hits. I feel this book should provide me with a good variety of tasty donuts. I usually prefer mixing my own products over mixes, and this also allows me to adjust quantity and flavor as desired.
