Title: Love my new video doorbell! Great customer service!
Review: I am extremely pleased with my purchase of the Arlo Essential wired video doorbell! I did quite a bit of research before purchasing this product. Price was a factor, but quality and available features made the Arlo Essential the best choice for me. The kit includes everything you could possibly need to install your new Arlo doorbell the right way. The instructions are great also. The only thing I wish Arlo would mention is that the battery within the doorbell may need overnight to recharge in order for the light to begin working. I was a bit nervous about it, but I read many of the links on troubleshooting and discovered that others had the same issue. And to my joy I woke up to an illuminated doorbell early the next morning. The doorbell has performed excellently since installation. The video is wonderfully clear, as is the sound. I linked the Arlo to my smart hub and to my smart speakers and displays. I get a clear "there's someone at the front door" every time the button is pushed. And of course were notified on each of our smart phones when someone or something comes in view of the doorbell camera or if someone presses the doorbell button. The 180° view and package detection are two of the other cool features that made my decision to buy the Arlo Essential over the other brands. The expert reviews also state that the "bubble" effect of the camera is much less prevalent on the Arlo. I'm very pleased with the view that I'm getting from it. Most cameras and doorbells have the ability to select zones of sensitivity, as does the Arlo. You can even customize your alerts based on your preferences, which is really convenient. There's an alarm feature to deter suspicious persons, and a quick dial 911 button in the app. This app and video doorbell are packed full of great features and performance. I love my new Arlo Essential wired doorbell! Update: It’s been over 1 1/2 years since my purchase and the Arlo Essential Video Doorbell has been great! We just noticed that due to weather/Sun the black border around the faceplate has cracked and bubbled. I called Arlo Support to see if they were able to send a replacement black border, but they said that they didn’t have replacements for this type of issue. I told them that the doorbell was out of warranty and I would be willing to pay if I could get the damaged front replaced. The support individual was super nice and said he was willing to see if the support team would consider a one time courtesy replacement for my damaged doorbell, even though it was out of warranty. Arlo is awesome! They are sending a new doorbell and all I have to pay is shipping! Now……that’s great customer service!

Title: The perfect video doorbell
Review: After extensive searching and comparing. Finally decided for the Arlo video doorbell.The main feature is the ability to see more of a vertical view rather than a horizontal. Which, I my case, I am able to see my packages that arrive at all times.- The installation process was a breeze! Following the steps through the app is about as easy as it can get. The only issue I had was turning off the power for the door bell itself. Tried any and all breakers that could be associated with the doorbell, but no luck. It is to my understanding that I may be wire with the furnace depending of the wiring. However, some homes may have the correct circuit breaker. I continued the installation process with caution and was able to install with no issues.- The screw is about an 8 size. I used a 1/8” drill bit for the pilot hole. Worked perfectly.**Update to this part: found a super handy chart and I realized I should have used a different size. Regardless, the 1/8” it still worked for me.- The set up process of the actual video doorbell was also seamless. The app guides you in detail through every step and even offers solutions to problems you might encounter.- Video quality of the Arlo video doorbell is phenomenal. Keeping in mind that it is a small camera, it definitely surpassed my expectation. Having that vertical field of view rather than the horizontal, to me was a lot more beneficial.- The app notifies you of any movement within about 6 to 10 seconds! Once on the app you’ll be able to view the video clip. At first I was fascinated by this, however, I quickly grew tired of getting notified of every car that passed by the street. And that’s where this app is better than others. The Arlo app allows you to customize zones that you want to be notified when something enters that zone. I am able to get the side walk, all of my front yard to include my entrance and some of my driveway. Keep in mind that not all entrances face out directly to the street. The Arlo video doorbell comes with a wall mount that is tilted so you are able to get a better view, with doorbells that do not point to the street.- If someone rings your doorbell, the app will call you phone. In which you can communicate with the person outside and let’s you view the video as well. Furthermore, it allows you to leave your own customized audio message if you do not answer.- The only “negative” comment I have to say about this is the subscription service. But that is relative, let me explain.Arlo starts you off with a 3 month free trial, in which, you get all the benefits of having an Arlo doorbell. Such as, setting zones is your video so you don’t get alerts for every movement. It learn behaviors such as people, cars and animals. Cloud service for 30 days in which you can save clips. And plenty more! After your trial is over, all these features are gone and it becomes a regular video doorbell. Yes, you still get notified but you are not able to make certain adjustments.If you want to continue with the service there’s a fee associated with every Arlo product that you have to pay for. For example, if you have Arlo video cameras and Arlo floodlight then they are considered independent which you have to pay for individually. I will provide an update, but I believe that for the door bell it is $3.99.- Overall I would highly recommend the Arlo video doorbell. The installation and set up process was extremely easy coupled with the guidance of the Arlo app, it sets you up for success. Additionally, it is worth noting that after 3 months of the Arlo service subscription you will be given the option to continue the service. Meaning monthly subscription. Regardless, if you are in the market for a high quality doorbell and service look no further than the Arlo video doorbell.

Title: Have an tech on hand to set it up
Review: Very happy with its features and performance - image quality, motion detection, physical compactness that fits in a tight space, angle mount that's included which was necessary since our existing doorbell was mounted on the trim facing sideways not facing front. The physical installation instructions were clear and the process was a snap, including the wiring instructions for the device and to wire the power pack to our existing chime.Why only 4 of 5 stars - Setting up the network connection is NOT straightforward with anything more than a plain, vanilla 2.4GHz network. Ours is a 5GHz eero mesh network. It was necessary to create a "guest" connection at 2.4GHz for the Arlo device (temporarily dialing down the main connection to 2.4GHz doesn't work if you have an eero mesh network). All this was figured out through third-party forums, not from any of Arlo's FAQ's. Also, having my son on hand, who's a hardware engineer from Silicon Valley, helped; helped a lot!

Review: Works as it should. I didn’t have a doorbell before so I started from scratch and had to install a transformer.It comes with a flat mount and angle mount.Come with Ray instructions and also a QR code you can scan with your phone directing you to a YouTube video of all the different ways to install.The night vision is very good.Your phone rings and you answer (you can set to mute on answer or unmute on answer), you can pick watch the video and select a responds that’s preset “hello, please leave package at door” and other reply’s.Note that my front door is about 30ft from my modem and 2walls so the wifi connection must be pretty good.

Review: I had bought the wired one (AVD1001) first since I had a working doorbell but the voltage in my transformer was not sufficient. Rather than finding, buying, and installing a new transformer, I bought this model. It works like a charm! It even charges the battery with my low (8V) doorbell transformer. No need to ever take it off and charge it which is WONDERFUL! Integrates easliy with Alexa and with my arlo base. Announces on my Alexa speakers that someone is at the door and I also get a a call on my phone.

Review: I struggled to install it for a month and I even contacted their Help centre - I still couldn’t install it. I did everything including separating my WiFi and installing new router. It is now money down the drain. Don’t buy it.
