Title: A new favorite
Review: This is my first kobo ereader and I’m in love. Its compact design makes it effortlessly portable, which allows me to read on the go conveniently. For reference, it’s similar to the kindle basic model in terms of size and feel of material with a non flush screen, but has the performance and features of a kindle paperwhite. Unlike kindle, the kobo clara colour is ad free! When the device is in sleep mode or powered off, the book cover shows with the reading progress percent tag. However, you can easily customize that by turning that option off in settings or by creating custom lockscreens using a quick online tutorial. The color display was one of the main features that attracted me to this model and it truly enhanced my overall reading experience. I appreciate the multi color options for highlighting memorable quotes or color coding to easily reference key information. In comparison to a tablet, the coloration is not as saturated, but that’s expected and personally it doesn’t detract from my experience. The various reading settings and e-ink screen allow for longer reading times and optimal reading comfort. Dark mode and the natural lighting are my favorites and I appreciate the convenience of being able to adjust the brightness by swiping up/down on the lefthand side of the screen. The upper right corner of the screen when reading is where you’ll find the reading settings and tools (lighting, font, dictionary, navigation tips, etc).Adding books to my library can be done directly on the ereader with wifi or using another device depending on the source of the file. For kobo store and overdrive, direct sync with ereader. For anything else (cloudlibrary, bookbub, previously owned ebooks, etc), the computer. There are probably other methods, but that’s what has worked best for me. Once I’m finished, I make sure wifi is turned on and click sync and then my library is updated with the new files. For energy saving purposes, I mostly keep the wifi setting off and have noticed an improvement in battery life.Even without purchasing the kobo plus subscription, it’s very possible to read completely free with this device. The kobo store offers a wide selection of free ebooks and there are also various websites such as bookbub to stay updated on daily ebook deals for free or discounts. For borrowing library ebooks, the overdrive/libby system is built in, but if your local library utilizes cloudlibrary instead, you can still sideload those books to your ereader using adobe digital editions. Just go to the kobo website and follow the instructions. Another plus, kobo price matches as long as it meets their criteria listed online.Overall, at the price point and everything this device offers, I think the kobo clara colour is a wonderful ereader and alternative to the kindle. However, those who prefer KU or are not tech savvy may not feel the same. I have owned and used my kobo daily for 2 months and wish I had purchased it sooner. Highly recommend!

Title: Great device!
Review: I just got it today. It was easy and quick to set up to my preferences and all done on the device. I am no stranger to ebooks. I got a kindle when it first came out. I currently have a Kindle basic-2022, as well as a Kobo Libra 2. I had switched to the Kobo platform in 2022 because I like its ethics better. I purchased the Kobo Libra 2 and love that device, but had limited library choices and buying books is expensive if you're a voracious reader like I am. However, at that time, they did not have a platform for a paid monthly service like Kindle unlimited, so I returned to Kindle and reluctantly purchased a new Kindle device and signed up for KU subscription. But the platform is tedious to maneuver, it focuses on books similar to the last one you read, which can be fine, unless you are tired of it and want to move on. Then it is difficult to find other books. It was frustrating and causing me not to read as much anymore. I miss reading, so I looked at the Kobo again, and much to my delight, they now have a monthly reading subscription like KU. Not quite as many books in their selection, but enough for me, and their collection is growing. I also have 2 libraries systems I can check books out from and had forgotten how easily it is to check out books. It literally takes a few seconds. I signed right up for Kobo plus as well and will exit KU once I am done with the books I am currently reading.Even though I love my Kobo Libra 2,and its button page turners, it is bigger and after getting used to the smaller Kindle, it just felt heavier in my hands. It also didn't fit in my small fanny pack purse. I knew they had a smaller 6 inch device, and much to my delight, they had a color version, similar in price to the kindle paperwhite, so I checked out a ton of reviews and decided to purchase it, and I couldn't be happier. The color is amazing, and although not as vivid as the actual book, seeing the color makes me happy. The font is crisp and clear. I use dark mode for reading, which is easier on my eyes and it is also wonderful, and works just like it should. The device itself is lightweight, even with the fabulous cover I got for it, and best of all it easily fits in my small fanny pack, which the Libra 2 does not. The handling is quick and responsive, with no lagging. Reviews have said the overall lighting is dark, but that isn't the case for me, the lighting is perfect. When I open the cover, there is the colored cover of the book I am currently reading, which makes me smile, and makes the reading experience feel closer to actually reading a physical book. And the colored highlighting is fabulous. I am going to come up with a system for color coding things I highlight so I can organize them easier. I am mid-way through my first book and I have zero regrets. I am totally delighted with my purchase.
