Check into a storied Nantucket hotel for a summer of scandal in this immensely satisfying page turner from "the queen of beach reads" (New York Magazine) and #1 New York Times bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand.

Fresh off a bad breakup with a longtime boyfriend, Nantucket sweetheart Lizbet Keaton is desperately seeking a second act. When she’s named the new general manager of the Hotel Nantucket, a once Gilded Age gem turned abandoned eyesore, she hopes that her local expertise and charismatic staff can win the favor of their new London billionaire owner, Xavier Darling, as well as that of Shelly Carpenter, the wildly popular Instagram tastemaker who can help put them back on the map. And while the Hotel Nantucket appears to be a blissful paradise, complete with a celebrity chef-run restaurant and an idyllic wellness center, there’s a lot of drama behind closed doors. The staff (and guests) have complicated pasts, and the hotel can’t seem to overcome the bad reputation it earned in 1922 when a tragic fire killed nineteen-year-old chambermaid Grace Hadley. With Grace gleefully haunting the halls, a staff harboring all kinds of secrets, and Lizbet’s own romantic uncertainty, is the Hotel Nantucket destined for success or doom?

Filled with the emotional depth and multiple points of view that characterize Hilderbrand’s novels (The Blue Bistro, Golden Girl) as well as an added dash of Roaring Twenties history, The Hotel Nantucket offers something for everyone in this compelling summer drama.

Title: Enjoyed by a non-reader
Review: Someone on Instagram recommended this book so I bought to read on vacation at the beach. I am not typically a reader. This book was a quick, good, and light read. It tells the story of multiple characters- which can be slightly confusing when it jumps to the next character's story but I could follow along. The ending was okay. I'd recommend and am looking at another book by this author to read next

Title: Is it Summer?
Review: Is it summer? It must be because Elin's new Nantucket book is out.Every year, I wait (in)patiently for her new story. I have enjoyed so many of her other books and she always amazes me with how she is able to transport me to Nantucket, a place I have never been (but I want to go).So what did Elin have in mind for this novel? Well, I would say that she centers the storyline on the people working at the Hotel Nantucket. The hotel was an eyesore until British billionaire, Xavier Darling decides to buy it and renovate it in the most luxurious way. He hires Lizbet Keaton as his general manager. He tells her that he bought the hotel to impress two women. One of them is a mysterious blogger who rates hotels as Keys. No hotel has been able to get the 5 Keys. Darling wants the Hotel Nantucket to be the first. He doesn't tell Lizbet who the other woman is.Lizbet decides to apply for the job after she discovered her boyfriend and chef of their restaurant sexting with another woman. No one on the island would have thought that they would break up after so many years. Liz knows she needs a change and demonstrating to the world that she can make the hotel a success becomes her next goal. She hires quite a few people and she is happy with her choices although she doesn't know the secrets they are keeping. Thankfully, the readers will get to discover all of them one by one including the person responsible for the death of a chambermaid killed in 1922 who has been haunting the hotel since her death. My new favorite Elin Hilderbrand's audiobook!! Erin Bennet's masterful narration does a wonderful job of bringing these characters and Nantucket to life.I liked all the characters but I guess my favorites were Lizbet, Longshot, and the kids. I also loved how Elin incorporated some of her past characters from other books into this one. I always like to know how those characters are doing. In this case, Fast Eddie made a few appearances. In addition to writing a fun and entertaining story, Elin gives us at the end of the book a list of places to visit in Nantucket. I know I will need it when I go. I just don't know if I want to go in the summer or for Christmas.Cliffhanger: No5/5 Fangs

Title: Ok
Review: I gave up after about half way through. Too many characters and too many stories within stories. I’m sure it’s a good beach read.

Title: Enjoyable Beach Read
Review: FINAL DECISION: This is a good beach read. It's not particularly compelling but the different storylines keeps the book interesting. As a romance reader, I would have preferred more about Lizbet and Mario, but overall I enjoyed the book.THE STORY: The Hotel Nantucket reopens after years of being abandoned. In 1922, a chambermaid was killed in a fire, and her spirit remains at the hotel. Purchased by a billionaire who wants the hotel to receive a coveted 5th Key by a reviewer, the hotel opens under the management of Lizbet Keaton. Lizbet, recovering from the breakup of a longtime relationship, puts together a ragtag set of skeleton staff to run the hotel. The book tells the stories of all the people at Hotel Nantucket.OPINION: The large cast of this book made it interesting to read each individual story, but I also cared less about each character. But that makes this good as the kind of read that works for short bursts and interruptions because the story can be read in chapters and not lose any momentum. While the "main" story is about Lizbet, there is little more in that story than the others, but that is the romance in the book. I really loved her story, and my main complaint is that I would have liked more about her and less about the other characters. There are stories about the each of the two women on the front desk, a young man from a wealthy family who takes a job cleaning rooms, the night auditor, the housekeeper, the bellmen, and, of course, the ghost. At the same time, I did enjoy this book more than I expected. I thought that the story was engaging, although not very deep or significant. The book never leaves the surface level, but it really worked to read while sitting next to the pool.WORTH MENTIONING: There is a 35-page Nantucket travel guide in the back of this book (at least the hardcover edition).CONNECTED BOOKS: THE HOTEL NANTUCKET is a standalone.STAR RATING: I give this book 3.5 stars.

Title: I Want To Work At The Hotel Nantucket!!!
Review: It didn't matter that I read this "beach read" in February; what a great book! You will love the characters, they are so well-developed. You'll also love the situations the hotel staff finds themselves in and how they resolve the issues. It's a great adventure story from opening day through the entire first summer. Extremely well-written (what you'd expect from Elin Hilderbrand) throughout the novel. You'll feel the sadness as seasonal workers leave at summers end and you'll laugh throughout while not expecting the twists at the end. Read the entire book, especially the multi-page "Blue Book" description of "What to do when you visit Nantucket Island." The vivid, real-life descriptions of restaurants and hotels and bars and beaches and activities will make you want to book your summer vacation to Nantucket NOW. Read this book any time of year; you will not be disappointed!
