Title: A very good fan
Review: Pros: This fan has been in constant use for the last 3 weeks, rarely shut off. It's still quiet and I'm very pleased with it. It's very simple and easy to put together, even without instructions, especially if you've assembled an electric fan before and are familiar with the basics of how they generally fit together. And if you haven't, there are instructions in the box. No tools required. The lowest setting is virtually silent, even standing directly in front of the fan, which is a really excellent feature. The air flow is gentle and steady, and would probably not keep you awake either. The next setting is not noisy, it's just not silent, but it's very quiet, with a more noticeable air flow. The highest (Turbo) setting isn't noisy either, as fans go these days, but it's the noisiest setting on this fan. It provides the highest air flow, which is perfectly fine as long as you're sitting nearby (within 6') and not across the room. The fan feels sturdy. There's nothing distracting about the way it looks or sounds, so it's easy to forget it's even there. It rotates quietly, sweeping 180 degrees.Cons: It is not the most powerful fan on the market. It is expensive, and could probably be sold at a lower price, but I did not feel ripped off or cheated.Summary: It works really well. I would buy another one if I needed another fan. I have several "Comfort Zone" fans that are around the same size, and are more powerful, but they are noticeably louder. In my opinion, the very best fan, which is slightly larger than the "Comfort Zone," is the Lasko fan, but I haven't been able to find that model this year. The Lasko is a very powerful fan, but it is also noticeably louder than the Rowenta fan.If you can afford to splurge a little, and really need a silent fan to set on your bed-side table or your desk, I would really recommend the Rowenta.

Title: Whisper mode is freakishly quiet!
Review: Definitely worth the money, have had ours running for nearly the whole summer and it sips power. The whisper mode moves air and is actually silent- I will forget it's on and wonder why I'm getting chilly before realizing there's a fan pointed directly at me.Disassembles for cleaning pretty simply, presumably any repairs would be relatively simple.I wish the lights on the control panel could be turned off or dimmed. The remote is small and cheap feeling, easily lost, but functional. And if those are the only complaints I have after ~2000 hours of duty cycle, that's pretty good.

Title: This is a Very Good Fan
Review: My search for a quiet fan led me, finally, to this fan. It was the only one that really claimed to be very quiet. Mission accomplished. On the lowest setting, I can watch something while others are sleeping. The fan sound, at 35 dB, is not an issue. I have it near my head, and don't hear anything. My hearing is quite excellent, thank you very much. It does get louder as air movement increases; but it is not a roaring, rattling sound. It is the sound that is made by moving air, not the sound of poorly designed machinery. Air movement is beyond criticism. The fan looks much better than I thought it would. I could easily write ten pages on the virtues of this fan; but others have written many long reviews. You have to like something a lot or to hate it to write a long review.Negative reviews for this fan fall into several categories for me. Unrealistic expectations is my first choice. If you want something that you can knock around, use in the garage, and abuse; or if you like to ignore instructions, this is not the fan for you. Maybe Harbor Freight has something cheap, heavy, and old-tech with a large dose of unreliability that can work for you. If you are not good at reading instructions, or are in a hurry, or are under the influence, or assemble things by slapping them together, you will do yourself a favor by letting someone else assemble the fan for you. It really is easy; but you will do best if you have the touch. Yes, it is easy to break the small parts if you are not careful. Frankly, the weakest point of the fan is the instructions, both for assembly and operation; but if you slow down and read them carefully, and think it through, they are adequate. If you insist on moving the fan around without regard to its construction, do not be surprised if it does not hold up. I am talking to the folks who buy fine glassware and end up with most of it broken after a few years. This fan is a technical achievement. You take care of it like you do anything of value. Some people have a vinyl or CD collection that looks like new after many years. This is the fan for those people. Some folks use their music collection as frisbees, coasters, Salvador Dali models, and random floor decorations. This is not the fan for them. someone criticized the fan because the mount broke. If you move it around, hold the handle and also hold the base upright rod that the fan mounts to. The base is very heavy for a reason. The second weak point of the fan is that it should not be moved around a lot by simply picking it up by the handle. This applies only to the floor model. I can't speak for the desktop model. Just support it carefully like you would anything else of value that you own. The concept should not be revolutionary; but some folks think that a fan can be hauled around like a toolbox. Some can; but you can usually hear them running in the other room. The control panel on the fan deserves special mention. It is intuitive, effective, beautiful, and easy to see and manipulate. The unusual angle is actually easy to fall in love with for its looks and functionality. I, as a person who embraces the technological achievements of recent years, do not have a problem with LED lights. The very well-designed set on this control panel seems quite appropriate to me. If you can't stand light, you have options; but don't expect the rest of the world to miss out on the benefits of great design because you haven't figured out how to get to sleep. If you are going to have a pillow fight or a wild party, put the fan in a safe place. It is not designed to the standards of a soccer net. As an industrial engineer and an electronics hobbyist, I appreciate this fan for many other reasons; but I don't want this review to become a tome. I will say that I purchased it as much out of curiosity as out of hope that it might actually meet expectations. The German design gave me confidence. A few hours after a flawless assembly process, thorough testing, and evaluation, I ordered another one. When I saw that the price had dropped significantly, I changed my order quantity to two. Somebody actually complained about a price decrease in one of the reviews. This fan, according to the instructions is not for extremely humid locations. They also say to use a dry cloth to clean it. Based on some complaints about a rusty protective grid, that seems like sound advice.Final note: disassembly for cleaning. I see no reason why disassembly should result in damage to the cage or the plastic ring that holds it together, or to the rather delicate plastic attachment hardware. When you clean your stemware, it requires more careful handling than your coffee mug. This fan will not weather the process like one of the other cheap fans that are available everywhere. On the other hand, it is not as difficult and delicate as tying fishing flies or handling rare stamps.

Title: I'm a fan of this fan!
Review: I bought this Rowenta fan then after a week my wife insisted we get another one, which I bought. Simple, straightforward assembly. Oscillates and runs very quiet in most settings. The high speed settings make a bit of fan noise but still pretty quiet, when compared to comparable units sold at a big box store. The medium and lower speeds are very quiet. There is a night time 'sleep' setting that is very slow and almost silent. It is fantastic at night. Fan comes with a remote control. It changes the various fan speeds, but does not turn off or on the oscillation function. That's taken care of by a simple old fashioned 'pull up' pin on the top of the motor, which I like. There is a control panel that is mounted at an angle, just beneath the fan itself, for easy access to the fan's functions. I give this fan 5 stars, so far! Not the cheapest one but well worth the few extra dollars. If you are looking for a well made pedestal fan, that is very quiet, this Rowenta fan may be your answer. Stay cool!

Review: I'm a bit skeptical when I see a spicy pricey on a fan, could it really be *that* much better that it's worth the price tag? 100%. This fan is amazing, you don't even know it's on when you're on whisper setting. For folks who had noise complaints in their reviews, I think that might be the assembly end user issue. I have two of these and they are flawless. The turbo is great if you're working out in your house on a summer day. The whisper mode is amazing for sleep. My partner likes to sleep fan on, no blankets like a nut. I like to sleep blanketed to the hilt. This fan suits us both at night, not pushing air across our faces at a drying speed, but rather a soft steady gentle motion. If you're undecided, I can say that I didn't test other expensive fans, I just read reviews for.many and I chose this. It is the best fan I've ever experienced. If I was forced to find fault, you have to manually stop/start oscillation it is not on the remote. But fans have always been that way for me anyways I grew up in the 90's.Buy the battery for the remote from dollarama and Bob's your uncle.

Review: Worked great for 2 years. It is very silent. But by year 3, the grinding sounds started. Same issue as any cheap fan. Dust gets inside the motor, something wears out. Then the rattling starts. So it is a excellent fan at 2-3x the cost of a cheap one. But you will still be replacing them at about the same frequency as they cheap models. I am about to throw out my second floor model due to these noise issues, first one tossed 3 months ago. All bought in last 3 years. If only these fans had some kind of removable air filter for the motor section.
