Each filter cartridge needs replacement every 200 gallons or 2 months, although cartridge life can vary depending on your water usage and conditions. Annual costs are considerably higher than what you pay for most other faucet mounted units. How to replace the filter? Don’t worry, it’s not difficult at all – at least in theory (more on this in a bit): Simply unscrew the cap from underneath the housing. The cartridge will drop down into your hand. Dispose of the old cartridge Insert a new one. Turn 2 and a half full turns until it stops. Open the faucet and check for leaks. Tighten cap if need be. Flush the new cartridge for at least 10 minutes to remove all carbon fines.

Title: 5 STARS on this water filter:)
Review: Hi.. I have had Britta filter systems in past. I had bought three Brittas over about 6 years. I read on consumer reports that the Culligan was rated high. OK , I'll try I thought. Good choice! It's smaller than Britta.. It was about $35.00 plus one filter inside. the filters are about $13.00 for one. I wasn't sure if the purifier came with filter so I bought an extra one. It's very easy to attach. It comes with inside or outside thread attachments to match your faucet. I suggest putting cloth around the tightening ring and use a small wrench so it will not leak or sputter. It can drip, but just tighten it and make sure you have the gasket in well. When you turn on water the first time to remove dust from charcoal and allow water to go through gilter to fill up, make sure you turn pressure on slowly while pulling out the small handle on the side. that activates the water going through filter. Let it run for 10 minutes, not the 5 minutes that several other brands recommend. When you turn off the water, the little "pull out handle "moves back to its off position by itself from lack of pressure. After initial use, let water run three seconds before drinking as well.I immediately noticed no smell of chlorine and the water tasted like nothing but good. It is the first time I actually liked this water. The Britta did not make this water taste this good. I only wish I could sample them blind folded!! The water pressure is slower than my previous britta but that's ok. It means it's filtering the water!! I just fill a few containers and have on hand. It does not have an indicator showing the filter needs changed. That makes you wonder but I'll see and repost what I find in A few months! I know my approximate water usage based on what I had used from a water delivery service. I will note when I installed and see if I can tell a difference in the two months. On a different subject but related to water let me add, that I decided to pour bottled water from a Fugi bottle into a cup and then I poured another name brand water into a cup. I Marked the cups and closed my eyes and mixed the cups so I had no idea of which was which. I had always heard of this fantastic Fugi water and although in terms of the water contents or lack of them I could never find myself paying $5.00 for this small water bottle. But it was I a hotel and it was screaming taste me with it's gorgeous picture. ( marketing.. Our world!) i tasted the water and you may have guessed, I could not tell the difference so I ended up picking the other brand and not the Fugi. I was very surprised. If you haven't taken a water taste test, do it for the fun of it.. Now with that said the Fugi water is probably better for one but I couldn't taste it!😊 so I give the Culligan FM-15A 5 stars. Easy, small, looks non invasesive, works well and it's by a very well known company that's been around a long time! Enjoy your chemical free water. *****

Title: STILL LOVING CULLIGAN AFTER YEARS OF USE
Review: I used to purchase PUR water filters because I loved the way they made my water taste. Earlier PUR models would last at least a year or two. Then, they cheapened down the device so much (while increasing the cost) that they begin to crack and leak after just a month or two of use. The newest model cost me the most and kept falling off the faucet, since it was only held on by a plastic device that would lose its shape. To their credit, when I contacted PUR, they mailed me a new faucet ring immediately. After a week of using the new fixture, it fell off again. I called them and got another ring. It fell off in a matter of days. Altogether, I've gone through 5 Pur filter systems (in different styles) in one year, hoping to find one that would hold up. I've finally run out of refills (I bought them in bulk, so I kept trying to find a PUR that would last so I could use them up--they're expensive!) and decided to try a different brand. The Culligan arrived very quickly from this seller. I was pleased with the cost, too. The refill filters cost as much as a PUR filter refill but lasts twice as long. The actual filter itself is a fraction of the cost of a PUR. The Culligan has a very simple design (without all the bells and whistles), and I was pleased--the simplier the design, the less that can go wrong. It was EXTREMELY easy to put on--I did it myself in 30 seconds. The fixture to the faucet is metal, so I don't expect there to be a warping problem as with the PUR filter. It is VERY light weight, so there is less strain on the faucet itself. It has great water pressure. The water tastes great. It does NOT automatically stop running when the filter is dirty, so you do have to keep track of when to replace it yourself. I just put a date on my replacement filter so I know when to install the new refill. The device is easy to open--the PUR filter, with the round design, was almost impossible to unscrew at times. There are ridges at the base of the Culligan that makes this no problem. So far, we are extremely pleased with the filter. I can't see any design flaws, yet. I will write again if any arise.Update: There aren't many products I will take the time to review let alone write an update to my review, but Culligan deserves an update because they've done something right when so many others have really screwed up. We are still loving the simplicity and reliability of the Culligan faucet filter over any other brand we've tried. I've just had to buy a new Culligan faucet filter mount after three years because it formed a small leak where the plastic part forms against the metal faucet part. Considering what we paid for the filter, and how often we've used it, I'm not complaining at all. We love the taste of the water, and we don't miss the fancy features of a PUR filter or other brands because we like the reliability of the Culligan. It doesn't put any strain on our faucet (PUR just got too heavy for it's own good). The refills are affordable, as is the new faucet mounts if they do go bad. Culligan has a winner here--I hope they don't feel pressure to upgrade to add features--just remember; if it isn't broken, don't fix it!

Review: For the last year, my tap water has a distinct metallic taste after it sits out for an hour or so in a glass. I got tired of refilling Brita pitchers and decided to try an on-tap filter. I initially purchased a Brita on-tap filter and liked it at first. After a few weeks of use, it ran slower, leaked regularly and often had to be hand-tightened. I felt disappointed in it and was hesitant to buy another brand. Eventually, I sucked it up and purchased the Culligan at the start of April and I've been so pleased. It takes up less space, runs quickly, turns back to your regular tap automatically and tastes great! No leaking, no tightening. Easy peasy. If you're considering one, try this.
