From Illumination Entertainment, the studio that brought you The Secret Life of Pets comes an animated comedy about finding the music that lives inside all of us. Sing stars Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon, an eternally optimistic koala who puts on the world's greatest singing competition to save his crumbling theater; Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon as Rosita, an overworked and underappreciated mother of 25 piglets desperate to unleash her inner diva; Scarlett Johansson as Ash, a punk rock porcupine with a beautiful voice behind her prickly exterior; and Taron Egerton as Johnny, a young gangster gorilla looking to break free of his family's felonies. Sing is the musical comedy event of the year!

Title: Music for all ages, safe for kids, and a simple, plausible story. Good entertainment!
Review: We bought this for our kids, ages 4 and 7, and they love it. They've watched it countless times, I catch them singing bits and pieces of the songs in the car and, because the songs are pop songs from the 80s, 90s and today, there's something in there for parents to enjoy, too.The story is simple enough--a struggling theatrical producer launches a talent show to increase business for the theater, and his receptionist accidentally puts a few too many zeros on the grand prize amount, which attracts everyone from miles around to compete. The range of music runs the gamut from pop to rock to even a couple classic Frank Sinatry/Rat Pack tunes from the 50s. I can only think of one scene that could be considered inappropriate for kids, when these three girls are singing the opening lines to "Baby Got Back" (they repeat "oh my gosh, look at her butt"). As long as you don't think your kids won't latch on to that and sing it at the most inopportune time, the movie is otherwise completely safe for kids of all ages. No cursing, no violence, and no sexual innuendo, real or implied.Perhaps the best result of all is that both my boys are now much more interested in music. They're interested in playing with my electronic keyboard, and I hear them actually trying to sing in the car now. Even though my wife and I have exposed them to music since before they were born, they didn't take much interest in singing or playing music until they watched this movie. So who knows, maybe this will unleash the musician in your child, too.

Title: Good family Movie
Review: My son always wants to watch cartoons. My wife and I struggle to watch them with him sing one and two are one of the few movies we can watch together and enjoy.

Title: "Don't let fear stop you from doing the thing you love" - Sing delivers! (no spoilers beyond what is revealed in the trailer)
Review: You know how sometimes you see the trailers for a movie and it looks promising but then when you see the movie you realize that all of the good stuff was in the trailers and there's not much else to it? Well, Sing is _not_ one of those. Sing delivers! Directed by Garth Jennings (Son of Rambow, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) and Christoph Leurdelet (A Monster in Paris) from a screenplay by Jennings, Sing is an animated musical delight with a great voice cast, engaging characters, and an infectiously optimistic story.Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) is a koala who owns a grand old-style theater that has definitely seen better days. Beset by creditors and the bank who holds the mortgage on his theater, Buster has come up with an idea to revive the theater's fortunes: a singing competition. Despite doubts voiced by his best friend from childhood, a Suffolk sheep named Eddie Noodleman (John C. Reilly), Buster truly believes that he's latched onto something that will get the public's interest. When Buster has his assistant, a somewhat elderly green iguana named Ms. Crawley (Garth Jennings), produce the flyers to announce the competition, a series of accidents involving her glass eye results in the flyers being blown out the window to the wind where they are scattered randomly across the city. Some of the flyers end up catching the eye of five particular characters: a pig named Rosita (Reese Witherspoon) who has talent but whose hopes of performing have taken a back seat to the needs of her over-worked husband Norman (Nick Offerman) and their twenty-five hyperactive children; an elephant named Meena (Tori Kelly) who has a great singing voice but who is terrified of performing before an audience; a sharp-dressing mouse named Mike (Seth MacFarlane) who is a saxophone-playing street musician with an up-in-your-face attitude; a young gorilla named Johnny (Taron Egerton) who yearns to sing but who is the son of mobster Big Daddy (Peter Serafinowicz) who's pushing him to be in his gorilla gang; and a punk-rocking porcupine named Ash (Scarlett Johansson) who sings in a band with her porcupine boyfriend Lance (Beck Bennett) who keeps telling her to stick to doing backup vocals when what she really wants to do is write her own songs. All of these disparate characters - along with a host of other hopefuls - are drawn to Buster's theater and the chance of living out their dreams. The path isn't easy though for any of them, and each of them has challenges to overcome, with Buster facing the biggest challenge of all- keeping his beloved theater open long enough for the competition to take place. One other particular note: I saw the 3D version of Sing and it's one of those all too rare films where the 3D is well done and actually adds something to the film beside an extra charge on the ticket price for the 3D glasses.Highly recommended for anyone who like a fun well-told story with heartfelt characters that really delivers on its promise.
