The need for ethical education is as long standing as the history of scandals that plague the financial industry.  Understanding the cause and effect of economic crises and scandals from an ethical perspective ensures the long run health of our financial markets.  Sarah W. Pecks Investment Ethics is an applied and uniquely focused textbook that provides students with the tools, examples, and exercises they need to understand ethical concepts and consequences in the practice of finance; especially regarding investments.  This text serves not only as a key tool in the classroom, but also a longstanding guide for examining the ethical practices of companies and organizations.

Title: Headlines and Press Releases.
Review: While the need for an investment ethics casebook in business school is undeniable, this book falls short. A more comprehensive approach, incorporating a wider range of sources and perspectives, could have provided a more nuanced understanding of the subject matter.Professor Peck appears to have used press releases from regulators' public relations teams and articles from the financial press as the principal sources for this text. Regrettably, much better sources exist in the public domain; court filings, regulatory disclosures, and broker check disclosures frequently provide much more information about financial crimes and ethical violations. The author could have engaged a paralegal to help her research and obtain all the legal document behind the cases included in this textbook. She could have attempted to contact the actors involved in these cases, the prosecuting lawyers, the defense attorneys, or the regulators. She could have interviewed SEC officials, heads of Wall Street's Compliance Departments, FINRA Executive Management, or Bank Regulators to add color commentary explaining the importance of her chosen cases. However, she did not. Thus, this book is a disappointment.
