Title: It's a good book, but you have to watch the sugar/salt levels closely
Review: I like this book, I don't love it. At first I was intimidated by the recipes since my cooking stills aren't stellar. I bought this book for my 9 month old so I skipped pretty much the whole first half of the book now that we are on semi-solid foods. There are so many organic purees available commercially that I don't feel like I missed out on anything there. Now that we have entered into the territory where purees aren't her thing anymore, there really was no good commercial food option for her and I've had to get creative. She doesn't have many teeth so she needs mushy foods and I don't want to feed her just bananas. I've tried a few recipes and honestly, I've eaten more of the food than her. The food has come out delicious enough for me to eat it as well, which is a great bonus. Sometimes I'll change the portion sizes so that it's mainly my food and I can cut off some for her. (example: Changing the mini-meatballs into regular sized meatballs). I like how there are options to make recipes dairy free and provides other suggestions if a meat/fruit/veggie isn't to your taste. The reason why I don't love this book is one recipe in particular, the blueberry flax muffins, calls for 1/4 cup honey or pure maple syrup which makes 18 muffins. I went to the grocery store and looked at the sugar content of pure maple syrup (since my daughter is under 1, I cannot give her honey so I'm not even sure why that is a suggestion since that recipe is in the 10-12month section), which was 56g. If you divide that into 18 muffins, that's 3g of sugar per mini-muffin. Compare that to eating 60 puffs (which my child eats maybe 10) which is less than 1g sugar. There are a ton of no-sugar muffin recipes out there online so I'm not sure why this recipe was considered a good idea. I try my best to minimize sugar & dairy in her diet.I would buy it again because it's a great starting point and encompasses all the age ranges for baby food through toddler and I like how the recipes are tempting enough for me to eat them as well.

Review: This book has really helped me make healthy baby food. The amount of crap ingredients in baby food is insane. This has helped me feel good about what I've been feeding them.
