A spare and laugh-out-loud funny picture book about appreciating what you have and learning to grow with the help of friends

An Australian shepherd thinks he has the most special flower in the world. He loves the way it smells and how soft it is and how the petals tickle his nose. But one by one, more dogs show up with flowers that seem to be even more special than his! A humongous sunflower with a bejeweled pot? A plant that can survive in the desert? How could his little flower compete against those? But when he accidentally destroys his flower, this pup learns that just because other flowers are special doesn't mean his can't be too.

Title: You don’t need to compare
Review: This book follows a dog who has a very nice flower that they admire very much. However they start to doubt that their flower is good at all soon as they see what others have. A very good story for appreciating what you have and not comparing to others find your own happiness. Illustrations are wonderful too!!

Title: endearing and sweet
Review: The Best Flower Ever by Neesha Hudson is an adorable picture book with endearing illustrations (also by the author) and a valuable life lesson for children, one that some adults may need to be reminded of as well. The sweet little Australian Shepherd is so proud of his flower and thinks it’s the most special one in the world. After all, it smells nice, it has its own pot, and the bees love it! However, readers watch his excitement dwindle by the minute as more dogs show up with their special flowers. One has a flower with a bejeweled pot. One has a flower with a smell that’s not only nice but also calming. One dog even has a flower that potty trained the cat! My heart went out to the first dog, but I loved the way the author brought his smile & confidence back. I also loved all the other dogs that descend on the pages and their unique plants. The Best Flower Ever has several opportunities for education and life lessons that adults can discuss with children as they read. Granted, it can be enjoyed without getting any deeper than a cute story with equally cute illustrations and a fun read-aloud experience. But it’s even better with the reminder that each of us has something that makes us unique – and someone else’s special gift or talent or whatever doesn’t make ours less special. Adults could also help kids at the top of the age range look up the different types of plants and dog breeds that grace the book as well.Bottom Line: The Best Flower Ever by Neesha Hudson is endearing and sweet, and children will find something to love on every page. I loved the illustrations of the dogs and the plants, and even how text bubbles were incorporated instead of just ‘plain text’. The colors are soft, lending a peaceful tone to the book too. While it can definitely be enjoyed as just a fun story, the important life lesson tucked away here is a valuable plus. Delighted to add this to my library that I keep on hand for my littlest nieces and nephews!(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
