Title: Thorough and easy to read
Review: A very nice guide to have with you that is divided up in an easy to read sensible way. It covers not just the food but some of the differences in foods of the cuisine of different countries.

Title: Great information but the paper is dull white and the print is small
Review: It may seem like a petty complaint but this is a book intended to be used in the field (in this instance, the supermarket) and reading tiny print on dull white paper is just not ideal.Perhaps the author had to compromise with the publisher to reach a set price point but I would have paid more for a copy that I could easily read in the aisle of that ethnic supermarket. The information is great and is organized well enough to enable use as a reference book. I tested this at an international store and two Latin supermarkets.Sorry I had to take a star off because of the difficulty reading.

Title: useful
Review: Linda Bladholm, a Miami chef and food columnist, provides a handy shopping guide for ethnic markets with 400 entries and over 200 illustrations. Part One covers the basics, including a chapter on Latin culture and cooking as well as seven chapters detailing key ingredient classes. Staples are described (alternate names are provided) as well as suggestions for using them. Part Two addresses items for cuisines by country or region: Mexico, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, the Caribbean and Afro-Caribbean. Sidebars include fun food facts. There is an index and four appendices on equipment, cooking techniques, 25 recipes, and mail order sources
