Title: Powerful and sturdy
Review: I used to have to replace my food processor every year when the motor gave out. This one has been going strong for 2 years. It minces garlic in seconds and also does a great job on herbs that can be tough to grind. Also slices well with a fair amount of range for thickness.

Title: Comes with many different useful attachments for blending
Review: This is the MOST OUTSTANDING food processor I have ever owned!! The last two food processors, both Cuisinarts, (No offense intended) plastic bowl broke, blade broke or was recalled, had no storage for blades and/or grating parts. In contrast, this has organized separate holder for blades and graters. Also has smaller bowl for smaller jobs, making hummus, pesto, chopping nuts, and so forth. Comes with many different useful attachments for blending, chopping, and grating in different sizes and shapes. Easy to use and looks very nice. Solid motor and sturdy construction. Easy to assemble and disassemble. Easy clean up, cleans well in dishwasher. Is a little bigger than I had planned, but worth every inch of space. Also a little more than I had planned to spend, but worth every penny.

Title: Mostly wonderful piece of equipment, but not entirely (mini bowl design is critically flawed)
Review: I have not conducted a systematic breakdown of the reasons I think this is the best food processor I've ever had, but it is. The vast majority of my food processor use has always been the main sharp steel blade for chopping vegetables and making pastry dough. This one is better at that than any of the Cuisinarts (2, back to the ancient CFP-5 in the 70s) and KitchenAids (also 2) I've had. On top of that, the slicing ability of the Breville is absolutely vastly superior to any other food processor I've had, in particular the adjustable slicing disk. Watch the videos on YouTube about how vegetables come out sliced into a zillion thin perfect slices. It's really true. For a week or two I was coming up with reasons to do it (google the ratatouille recipe by Thomas Keller done for the movie). The motor is awesome, the controls are solid, the work bowl is really nice and very easy to clean. My last KitchenAid (which in its defense lasted well over a decade of frequent use, almost daily) had an extremely finicky latching mechanism to disable the motor while the top was off. The Breville has that too, but it's not finicky. Also, the big "plug" thing for the main feed tube is a closed box (hard to describe). The lid is very thoughtfully designed and that plays into the slicing abilities a lot I think. The gadget box that comes with it is very nice but be warned that it's enormous. I have enough room at the back of the counter under cabinets for the machine itself (and I keep the steel blade in there as its normal configuration, because that's still mostly what it's used for) but the big accessory box is just too big; it's claimed a big chunk of an overhead cabinet. That's OK for me but again it's a thing.Oh, one other significant design difference from other food processors I've had. All my previous devices had a work bowl with a central open-top cylinder on which the blade (or slicing/shredding disk assembly) would sit. That meant that there was no effective liquid seal, which isn't a huge deal since I really didn't use it for soup but it was still a mess sometimes. The real problem with that was the need to learn and employ the familiar (to anybody who's had such a machine) technique of grabbing the work disk from the bottom of the bowl while scraping out chopped stuff into another receptacle (saucepan, mixing bowl, whatever). The Breville is quite different. The central "drive shaft" is sealed off, and there''s just no need to do such gymnastics. The work blade holds itself in place pretty firmly, so you don't need to worry about taking it out when dumping out a round of chopping. The timer mechanism might be useful to some people, but it hasn't yet become so for me.One slight quirk that doesn't really make any difference is that the work bowl twists on to the base, and the top onto the bowl, in a clockwise direction. My KitchenAids all were counter-clockwise. I'm trying to convince my family that it's because Breville is an Australian company and things twist backwards in the Southern Hemisphere.*edit* - 10 July 2016I just tried using the "mini" bowl & blade for the first time. The blade basically does not between the shaft and the dome. It's possible to press it into place, which I finally did after spending 10 minutes trying everything I know to fit the mini bowl and blade onto the shaft. It's a very simple setup, so if there's some trick I can't imagine what it is. Squeezing the thing together resulted in the mini blade damaging the lid, which seriously bums me out. I've never had a food processor with an embedded mini bowl/blade that was actually useful, and this one, disappointingly, is no exception. *update* -- Breville customer support responded quickly to a complaint I lodged, and after a brief back and forth (including a couple of pictures to indicate that the mini blade didn't fit) they're sending me a new bowl assembly. I appreciate that.*edit* 28 Aug 2016Well I finally got the back-ordered replacement little blade for the mini bowl. As far as I can tell, it is identical to the original one and it does not work any better; it simply does not fit. If I shove the blade down onto the shaft it comes close, but then it's extremely difficult to remove (and dangerous). As I said above, I think the mini bowl concept is mostly a marketing gimmick and I've never found it useful. However, if the mini bowl is a processor feature you like, then be aware that as far as I can tell there's a fundamental design flaw on this device.

Title: Outstanding performance, amazing customer service!!!
Review: I LOVE this food processor. I use it at least one to two times a day. It has tackled every task that I throw at it. Recently, I used the emulsifying disk to make both mayonnaise and whipped cream. The consistency of both was the best I've ever seen. Previously, I had made mayonnaise in my blender, but the Breville whipped the mayo to that light, airy consistency that we love to see, much better than my blender. I have used my KitchenAid mixer to make whipped cream in the past, but again, the Breville whipped it to a lighter, more fluffy and more stable consistency than my KitchenAid mixer did.The storage box is great. I like how they put the items that you use most often in the front of the box. I have my box stored in the cabinet below the food processor, so it is easy to reach in there and pull out just what I need without much hunting. But what I love the most about the storage box is that I don't have a bunch of attachments sitting out on the counter or piled into the food processor, as I have had previously with other processors. The only parts of the processor that sit out on the counter are the base, the small bowl stacked inside the big bowl, the lid and the pusher all attached together. It makes it so easy when I'm ready to use the processor to just pull out what I need without having to move aside a bunch of accessories I don't need at the time. It also keeps the counter more tidy, which is always a bonus. The large chute is another of my favorite features. When I process food, I am always processing a lot of food at once. So I like that I don't have to refill the chute as much with this food processor. This food processor also does a better job at grating cheese than any other I have used. I am used to my other processors having a piece of cheese stuck between the lid and the grating disk. But the Breville grates it all with very little left over. It also does a good job grating vegetables, although there my be a little more waste with them.I like the seal on the lid. I was making ketchup recently and overfilled the bowl. But the seal on the lid did not let one drop of ketchup spill out. I have had it leak a little bit when I have overfilled it with more runny liquids. So I do not recommend overfilling the bowl. But the seal certainly helps when overfilling does happen.I have an easier time cleaning this processor than any other I have had as well. The only area I would complain about is the handle, which seems to be a theme with food processors. The handle to the bowl allows moisture and small bits of food to get into it and there is no way to clean it out. But that is really the only area that I have a hard time cleaning and in comparison to the other processors I have owned, it does not let in as much food as the others. The blades and spindle also can get food under them, so you will need a narrow brush, like a toothbrush, to get up in there and clean it out.I appreciate that the parts are BPA free. I also appreciate the quality of the plastic they used to make the parts. It is durable enough to withstand being dropped on the floor on occasion without chipping off bits of plastic here and there, as has happened with several of my past food processors.I recently damaged my lid and the small S-blade. I'm pretty sure it was my fault, because I did not have the S-blade seated properly before I used it. So I melted part of the lid and have melted plastic on part of the S-blade. I called Breville this morning to get the new parts. My machine is still under warranty, but I was not sure if it would be covered because it was my fault. The person I spoke to was extremely helpful and is sending me new parts for no charge, knowing that I was the one who damaged it. Also, I've been having a little trouble with my S-blades sticking in the bowl. So if the new small S-blade works better and does not stick, they are going to send me a new large S-blade as well. However, even if I had needed to buy a new lid and small S-blade, the lid is less than $20 and the blade is $10. That is such a reasonable price for replacement parts! I have spent much more than that for lower quality parts, so I cannot complain.I considered this purchase a lot before I bought it. $400 is a lot of money to spend on one kitchen appliance. But I have probably spent that much in the last ten years to replace food processors at a rate of once a year, at least! So I knew that I needed a quality appliance in order to meet my needs. This appliance is everything I could have wanted and more. I am very happy that I made this purchase and would highly recommend the Breville Sous Chef Food Processor.Update 06/30/15:How many products get FIVE stars? I just had to come back and extol the virtues of this machine even more. Our Breville has been through two years of daily use and is nowhere near quitting. Two things have stood out to me recently. Breville doesn't cut corners on anything, including the accessories. I love the scrub brush that comes with it. The bristles keep their shape and it's small enough to get into tight places that my Pampered Chef scrub brush is too big for. The spatula that comes with it is also perfect for scraping the sides of the bowl. Breville thought of everything with this machine.A few months ago, my four year old daughter was being helpful and dropped the big bowl on the floor as she was drying dishes. My oldest called me with some trepidation because I had told my kids something to the effect that I love my Breville more than them and they had better be careful with it. Lol! The bowl got chipped and there is a crack up the side, so I thought I would need to replace it. That's not the end of the world, since the replacement parts are so reasonably priced. However, we have continued to use it with the crack in it and it is doing so well, I'm not in a hurry to replace it. Pure liquids run out of it, but I can make batters just fine. Last night, some batter ran out just a bit, but it's not that bad. I cannot imagine any food processor that I have owned in the past performing so very well. This food processor was worth every penny I paid for it. Good job, Breville! Keep it up.

Review: Glad I splurged for this bad boy because it really is awesome. First it's big! Great for salads. Second, it's quiet, relatively speaking. But compared to some or many, it's quiet. Cleaning up is a breeze, especially if making salad. A couple of small issues that erk me. The cord really doesn't want to go into the suggested slot easily, in fact in got caught inside on the second day. After talking with customer service, of course this is the first they ever heard of having this issue which I find impossible to believe, they suggested I go through all the hassle of returning it for replacement. I mentioned I will just open it to see what the issue was and they said it could void my warranty. Sorry Breville, sometimes you have to do things that make sense. Carefully took cover off and turns out the cord had looped itself and the loop was preventing the cord to come out. 10 mins and it was fixed! Cleaning is generally a breeze, but gets more cumbersome when using the machine for grating cheese for instance. So what, clean it. The grated cheese is awesome. Brings me to the second small issue. Some how food gets between the handle and bowl inside the safety mechanism or trigger. And not even when the bowl is full. Lettuce for example somehow manages to find it's way in and I just can't get to it. Small stuff really. Very heavy unit, which I don't mind because it keeps it sturdy during the rougher grating or mixing. But despite those minor details, I can't believe I waited so long to get one of these bad boys.

Review: Got this 16 cup food processor about a week ago. So far I have mixed dark fruit cake, sliced and diced several kilos of veggies for coleslaw and soups, made frozen desserts and used the mini bowl and small s-blade to make sauces. At first I was reluctant to get this model because I am used to two speed machines. This machine only has one speed (super fast) but I have still been able to do traditional slow mode tasks using the pulse button. In the new year I'll get around to making breads and doughs. I do not have a stand mixer so I hope the blades do not significantly heat up the dough. I'll update this review on cookie, pizza and bread dough preformance soon. While it's still too early to comment on the longevity of the machine it seems to be quite robust. I really appreciate the metal gearing at the bottom of the work bowl and the base is both sturdy and well designed with places to grab when moving it. Unlike some other machines I tried, it doesn't leak and better still you can remove the rubber sealing gasket to clean it properly. I only hand wash this appliance and compared to many food processors this is very easy to do. The storage caddy for the shredding, slicing and french fry blades is good too and also keeps the included brush and spatula organized.Everything has worked well and almost effortlessly aside from the cleanup. This machine is so fast that it's almost a no brainier to whip it out even for smaller jobs. If I had more counter space, it would be a permanent resident. The results with consistent technique are excellent and repeatable a credit to the induction motor. Some lesser powered models can cycle and bog down resulting in uneven results. That's not a problem here.If Breville only had made the mini bowl more vertical instead of sloped at the top it would be an even better product.Another difference (but not necessarily an inconvenience) are the lack of hole(s) for dribbling in olive oil and the like for emulsions. Instead you get a small plunger that you can unscrew the top of to measure the oil with. This really is a great machine and when on sale an excellent buy. P.S. All the models in this line are the same, the only difference is the paint job.

Review: Not much to say about this. It does everything they say and does it well. I can whip up Apple Pies with this in no time, cuts those slices to perfection and so fast. Clean up is easy and I love everything about it.Never had one before so I had purchased a cheaper brand from a retail store and used it 2 times and the plastic piece that holds the top down broke off. then I read reviews and that inspired me enough to purchase a better quality one. This will still be going strong to whoever inherits it.

Review: This is a superior, high-end, food processor. I was not disappointed, and have been putting it through its paces. I use mine regularly, and consider it money well spent. The most important thing for me to pass along to anybody considering this processor, is to advise them that Amazon has done a terrible job identifying the difference between the silver, the red, and the black models, and why (as of November, when I bought mine) there is this price difference between them. At one point there was a $100 difference between the black or red, and the silver model. It dropped to about a $10 difference one day, which was when I bought my black processor. The charts Amazon displays listing the various features are not standardized across the different colours, so it's impossible to determine what you get for spending the extra money, or lose for not spending it.Here it is: The only difference between the black or red and the silver processor is the paint. I checked the Breville website and examined a silver one in a retail chain. When my black processor showed up it was in a box printed as containing a silver model. All the various attachments were clearly shown on the box's printed exterior, but there was a small sticker indicating the contents contained a black processor. So that's it. The only difference is paint. You're paying for paint. The silver model is the original colour, and the black and red are new as of September. Maybe that matters to you.

Review: Wonderful machine, however the only issue is that the Lid for Bowl Including Seal broke easily...so make sure to have you warranty.
