A woman drops everything to spend more time with her grandchild, only to discover new truths about herself. A humorous, heartfelt, feel-good novel from the author of Crazy to Leave You.

For Jodi Wexler, a Florida doctor with a flourishing practice, only one thing’s missing: the chance to spend more time getting to know her eight-year-old granddaughter, Macallan.

When Jodi’s restauranteur daughter asks her to watch Macallan in the Berkshires while she takes care of some business out of town, Jodi can’t say yes fast enough. Neither Jodi’s podiatric patients nor her just-fired, suddenly retired husband can keep her away. But when Jodi arrives, she discovers she’s not the only grandma at Lisa’s house. Lisa’s mother-in-law, Di—a hard-nosed real estate agent—has moved into the house. What’s more, there’s Grannie Annie, the twenty-seven-year-old girlfriend of Lisa’s oddball father-in-law. They’re not the only surprises. Lisa’s marriage is faltering even as her new restaurant is taking off.

As the competition for Macallan’s attention among the three “grandmas” increases, Lisa drops a bomb about her life that changes everything. Under pressure, and determined to help her daughter, Jodi must choose her next step. Her decision surprises everyone—Jodi, most of all.

Title: A Memorable and Amazing Novel
Review: I loved everything about “Who Loves You Best” by Marilyn Simon Rothstein. Kudos to Marilyn Simon Rothstein for this well-written, powerful, memorable, witty, and thought-provoking novel. The author has a gift for both writing and telling her story. I loved the themes surrounding this story. Has anyone received admission to the Exclusive Grandmother Club? The one simple requirement is that you become a Grandmother, biological or not. It starts with a notification that you will be a Grandmother. After the initial shock wears off, it is like hearing trumpets or bells in a big band or orchestra. That is, until the pause and reality sets in. You may not be the only Grandmother in this group. There are also your daughter’s and son’s rules to contend with.Marilyn Simon Rothstein has that magical way of making me laugh and smile what she writes. The author strongly describes the different types of Grandmas. This almost reminds me of “Battle of the Grandmothers” or “The Wars of the Grandmas”. Of course we don’t forget our grandchildren, and hope that they provide the correct answer when asked “Who Loves You Best”? Marilyn Simon Rothstein vividly describes the scenery of the locations, and the colorful and dramatic characters. The Genres for this novel are humor, family and friendship, and women’s fiction. There are three grandmothers with distinctive personalities, and a lovable granddaughter. Jodi Wexler, is a married, successful Podiatrist, who lives in Florida. Jodi’s daughter, Lisa owns a restaurant in the Berkshires, and requests Jodi to come and help with her daughter Macallan. When Jodi arrives she discovers that Lisa’s mother-in-law Di, a top realtor is there, as well as ‘Grannie Annie” the life partner of Jodi’s father in law. Lisa has to go on a business trip, and anticipates that this visit will only last about a week. Of course there is much more to this request.I appreciate that the author is empathetic, and sensitive to the many issues that arise, and discusses the importance of family, friends, neighbors, community, love and hope. The author also emphasizes honesty, communication, and finding and believing in yourself. I highly recommend this memorable novel! Happy Reading!

Title: Very realistic, interesting book
Review: It is funny how "art" imitates life, and “life” imitates art. I don't have children, therefore no grandchildren. I thoroughly enjoyed Marilyn Simon Rothstein's previous books so no thought required, I purchased her new book. While reading her well written, very interesting book, I must admit I found a few characters so annoying and through they were terrible people. It was difficult to not be extremely upset with these fictional characters. As the story progressed, I understood them more and my feelings changed (about a couple of them, some stayed annoying).I was absorbing the book and did not immediately write a review as I usually do. Then I took a short trip to visit friends and found myself living in a house with two little boys, 6 and 8 years old. Well, I have to admit now that I understand the dynamics of the story much better.I will not go into detail, but I felt like one of the characters in the book at times. After my 4 days within this environment, I honestly feel that Marilyn has hit the nail on the head with her plot. It is very true to life, which is a bit sad, since it is not all happiness in her book. (My real-life version was pretty happy.)I definitely recommend to all women, especially those of us (including myself for sure) that were raised to put everyone else before you. At some point this mindset needs to be altered. Your happiness is important also. You do not need your life always for others.

Title: Wonderful storyline told with a combination of humor and seriousness
Review: Once again, Marilyn Simon Rothstein hit it out of the park! Her style of writing draws me in from the first sentence, and keeps me engaged until the final word! She uses a combination of humor and seriousness to paint a picture of the characters, with such realism and imagery that makes me think I’m actually a part of the story myself. This novel had multiple generations included, and I loved that as well. This is a must read, along with Marilyn’s other 3 novels. I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one day!

Title: What a sense of humor!
Review: I was so excited to have the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book and my excitement was warranted! Who Loves You Best is so much more than a story about a bunch of bubbes.Marilyn Simon Rothstein’s gift for describing the complexities of family relationships in such a relatable, funny and heartwarming way is on full display in her latest novel. She presents a refreshing and insightful perspective on life (or should I say lives) as a grandparent. What a rewarding read - highly recommend!!!
