Title: A reliable fountain pen that is easy to use
Review: The Lamy Safari fountain pen is my favorite pen for everyday use. I have been using a charcoal grey safari pen for years and recently realized that I could use a second one. The first with black ink and the second with red ink. The safari pen is quite stylish and gets noticed whenever I use it out in public. I use a fine tip which is very strong and provides a smooth line, so writing is easy. The grip is unique and assures that I am holding the pen correctly. It is very comfortable. The body of the pen is very durable and the cap fits securely with a satisfying click. I have never experienced an ink leak! The pen comes in a cardboard box with no documentation and one disposable T10 ink cartridge (blue). There is a cardboard ring which prevents the cartridge from connecting to the pen tip. This is for shipping. You would remove the cardboard ring and screw the end piece to the tip to connect the ink to the tip. If you wish to skip the disposable ink cartridges and use ink from a bottle, you will need to purchase a model X28 converter, sold separately. (NOTE: Lamy makes two different converters for their fountain pens and only the Z28 is compatible with the safari fountain pen.)

Title: very good pen.
Review: i flushed the blue out, as usual, and then put in the ink cartridge. wrote smooth and great. you can buy converters for these, but converters tend to cause flow problems in most pens. its not too hard to clean cartridges, but with a syringe, you can flush the cartridge and fill it when its dried out with any color of ink you can buy for fountain pens. i must say, every time i use their ink in the lamy cartridge, it writes kind of dry and is irritating. i suspect the ink they give with the pen is watered down a bit so that it lasts longer in storage? idk. one other thing, if you like the silver clip, you will love this pen, but black and red clips are less glaring than this one. you don't think it will be such a big deal but wow it just clashes so bad. i think they should get rid of all the stainless steel colored clips. it looks too sterile and paperclippy. good pen though!

Title: Great working pen for the price, though not perfect
Review: I like my Lamy Safari fountain pen very much. Although it is not the prettiest pen (for my taste), it is a great writing pen. It also has "guides" to help me hold it properly. This is important for me, since I am not used to writing fountain pens.A good fountain pen writes under its own weight (without needing you to apply pressure to the page), immediately starts when put to the paper after being capped for a few days, and doesn't skip when you write quickly. The Safari does all these things for a good price, so I give it 5 stars. This is NOT to say it is a perfect pen. The nib widths are not well controlled-- I read accounts of others who ordered a fine nib which actually gave medium line widths, so I ordered a fine instead of a medium. My fine nib, however, makes an extra fine line. Other reviewers (on other web sites) have noticed the same thing. Also, the pen does not come with a converter-- it is $4.95 (+ shipping) extra on amazon; without it you have to buy cartridges, or use a syringe to pull ink from bottles and refill your cartridge. Finally, is is made of plastic. It is a hard, durable plastic, but it obviously is plastic.Given the price, though, this is a great starter pen.

Title: reliable fountain pen thats lightweight, easy to use, and at a decent price for beginners
Review: just got my new lamy safari fountain pen and for the most part its good but for someone like me who has a larger hand its harder to right with compared to a normal ballpoint pen or pencil since theres no specific spot to grip on them and just like any other pencil or pen ive used before it hurts my hand to wright with after awhile besides that it rights so smooth its light weight and i can always refill it with either cartages or bottled ink once my converter gets here besides it being a little on the small side i think its a good pen

Title: Great Pen!
Review: After I bought my Lamy Safari in Charcoal, I figured why not get a red one for correcting papers? This came with the standard Lamy blue cartridge, but I purchased a box of Lamy red cartridges to use, and they have been fine. This is a smart, classy everyday fountain pen that is also fun to use.

Title: Perfect International Traveler
Review: I really like traveling with this pen both domestic and internationally. The metal clip makes great storing on my Travelerâs Notebook. Using T10 cartridges, I have not had a leak to and from Europe (8-10 hrs) on multiple flights. I would think a converters would be a better advantage, but I have not tried them yet. It writes smoothly and ink flows very well. It is also very light and a large range of colors to choose from. It is a quality pen and I would recommend it to anyone getting into fountain pens or experienced with them.

Title: Great starter fountain pen
Review: This is my first fountain pen. I really like it! I don't know that I'll ever feel a need to upgrade to something fancier. I like the way it looks, feels, and writes.

Review: The Lamy Safari is a (fairly) dependable sketching pen. I purchased one over 30 years ago: it still works well. I purchased this second pen to fill with a greyish waterfast ink and have the old Safari filled with a brownish waterfast ink -- two pens to take with me for on-site sketching & painting. At the same time I purchased this Lamy Safari I purchased two Lamy Refill Converters (Z28) to allow me to refill the pens with my preferred ink. I also purchased a new nib to convert my old Lamy Safari from a Medium Nib to a Fine Nib pen (a simple process.) The Lamy Safari is fairly easy to maintain, and so far seems to be trouble free even considering the use of waterfast ink -- I suspect using the pens every day is the secret to keeping them alive.
