Title: I usually donât write reviews but I am impressed! Great A5 Journal pen!
Review: So this is a surprisingly nice pen at the price point. It is incredibly well machined and anodized aluminum! I have worked with extremely specific metal tolerances before and I know this is good machining, likely automated.I typically buy American made tools, raised by those that believe in American machining. I was taught that there are good and bad products that come from the USA, and China. Depending on the material, quality and price, I have bought some well made Chinese tools and items. This pen being one of them.I read some reviews where people swore Hongdian was as good as couple hundred dollar pens⦠decided to try it out.Whatâs important is this is an original designed Chinese item, not a knock off. I really knew it was quality when I opened it up, the converter is sturdy and also uses what I assume is aluminum. Absolutely no burs in the threading, threading is smooth with a well place o-ring.I was looking for something quite specific, portable, threaded, fountain, metal, fits in my journals pen loop. I did not really see any American or non Asian equivalents for this, I saw one and it was questionable and cost quite a bit more.I had been searching for a fountain pen that fit the pen holder in my Journal. Previously using a fisher bullet (terrible pen). This pen is a great compact size and it did fit with some slight stretching of the leather, nothing crazy. The threading of the cap and the clip were big deals for me. The threads are great security for escaping a mess! Itâs also nice I can keep the pen holstered and unscrew it if I want to use it non posted, This pen can used BOTH ways! The clip is also metal, hopefully aluminum like the rest of it, but itâs spring loaded and you canât see the spring! I can foresee possible paint chipping on the clip, but itâs seems pretty quality made. The EF nib is pretty smooth on mine, if you get one you donât like Iâm guessing the nib is where the quality issue would come from.Mine writes nicely wet with good flow, I can get a thinner line or feedback if I want. I like the versatility.I do like feedback to a point. It did feel slightly scratchy at first, but I believe the ink wasnât flowing well due to me filling the converter. After filling from the nib itâs been perfect.Last but not least, I was not sure about the finial⦠seeing pictures I wasnât a fanBUTItâs 2 cats as a yin-yang. It actually looks good and gives the pen character, it doesnât look cheap and is a nice touch. It grew on me for sure. For 20$ I donât see how you can go wrong with this pen at all.As prior service military I take care of my things and buy quality/heavy duty made things. I expect this pen could last for life if not lost!!!Also I wanted the black, it took a lot longer, funny how things work, I went for my Army green, itâs actually a beautifully anodized color, pictures donât do it justice.Just buy the pen!!!

Title: Unless you have large hands, you canât beat the Hong Dian M2 pocket pen for price and functionality
Review: I have several of these Hong Dian (or Hong Dian or Hongdian, Iâve seen all variations) M2 pocket pens. They are sleek and tough, comfortable in my hands (medium sized with long fingers), and are all great writers.. They can be written with without posting the long cap on the back, but they are made to be posted. Then they are the length of a standard fountain pen; the posting is easy and secure. They are made of metal, so the weight in the hand when posted is in the sweet zone for me.These pens are attractive too, especially this reddish orange one with gold-colored hardware. The clip is not only built in (unlike, for example, the Kaweco), it is actively springy, actually the most functionally useful clip I have on a fountain pen. The nib runs pretty true to stated size for Western pens. (Japanese pens are typically about a size smaller.) It has just a touch of bounce and is a very smooth, wet writer. I have examples of these Hong Dian #5 nibs in EF, F and M and all are great, smooth writers right out of the box. The provided cartridge converter is nicer than the one for Pilot pens, and again, I point out that some manufacturers like Kaweco require that it be purchased separately. Itâs smaller than a standard converter but holds enough ink for my needs between refills.I carry my M2s, with different inks, in a holder now, attached by their springy clips, but in the past I have carried one loose in my trouser pocket with no leaks or other issues. There is good sealing of nib when closed, so they are always ready for drawing or writing without drying out between uses. If Iâm panning to write for many pages, I will turn to a favorite large fountain pen, but for something rugged and portable, these are great. They are also inexpensive enough that if I lose one, I wonât be crushed. The only potential negatives I can see have not been issues for me: (1) someone with large hands might find the section a bit narrow, though it should be long enough, and (2) some may find the section to be a bit too slippery. I do wish they would equip this model with a slightly roughened section for a better grip, but I can deal with it as is.I do like this M2 pocket pen model better than the earlier M1, which is similar but smaller when posted and not as comfortable for me.

Title: Fantastic pen!
Review: I have an embarrassing number of fountain pens, from cheap disposables to $$$$ custom pens. This pen is worth far more than the 20 bucks I paid for itâif I didnât know the price, I would have thought it cost a lot more. Iâm a fan on mini-pens, and this one is a great combination of size/ink capacity, quality and attractiveness.Well-crafted all-round:- The cap screws and unscrews securely and quickly - The finish on the aluminum is smooth but not slippery - The clip is hinged so it slips easily onto a pocket - The nib (EF) writes like butterâno scratchiness AT ALL even on cheap paper. - Ink flow (using Noodlerâs Lexington Gray in it) is smooth, but not too wet. - The cap posts easily and securely, making the pen perfectly balanced- It wrote immediately after being capped and left overnightâIâll do more testing to see if it will go a few daysI like the slimness of the penâIâm not a fan of the fat ones, and this one is comfortable in my hand. There are no odd ridges digging into my fingers, and itâs easy to use for long periods.Iâm primarily using this for drawing, but itâs become my every-day writer. For the price, Iâm not worried about taking it out of the house, and with the clip I feel a little more secure with it in the pocket of my bag.I will be buying more, and looking at other Hongdian pens!

Title: All metal barrel and cap. A fine, compact carry fountain pen that doesnât break the bank.
Review: Very well constructed, and worth the asking price. the Nib is on the small size, being a pocket pen, but writes smoothly and works well.
