Title: Got the job done -- good underlying engine at a bargain price -- horrible controls
Review: [1] I got this because Adobe Elements 11 was delivering unacceptably poor audio. If you are already experienced in current video editing software, give this a try. It is pretty powerful and a very good bargain for the price. The very best video editor interface I have ever encountered is Adobe Premiere Version 4 that I bought in about year 2000 for about $900. It was built like an early Porsche sports car... Plain Jane controls, simple, easy to learn, great ability to cut frame by frame, with capacity to cut a single video file into numerous snippets, and have, if I recall correctly, the snippets in a little snippet panel, each snippet having a name chosen by you.. I wish Corel would take a look at this version and have a skin that emulates it, labeled "Beginners".Corel designers might also take a look at Adobe Elements 11, and emulate some of its features. In particular, it has a beginner interface and an expert interface.[2] As it stands, the interface is terribly cluttered. One very cheap fix would be to put controls into appropriate toolbars[3] I was infuriated by --A. there was no STOP control (square icon) in the panel containing PLAY and PAUSE control... I found by trial and error that I had to click the mouse right buttonB. it would not read MP4 files... fortunately I had MOVAVI file converter..B2. It refused to read MOV files !!! Had to waste half an hour going to another location that had the MOVAVI software... it seems only to read files of type MPG... that is a real bummer....C. There was no single location where I could choose the folders where I wanted the files put... I hate putting video files anywhere on my C: drive because it is only 500MB.[4] Ithink Corel would greatly benefit by having more beta testing of the interface by novice users.

Title: Too many technical glitches, crashes.
Review: I am a professional videographer of many years. Due to my main editing/live production system undergoing upgrades, I decided to purchase this software to load onto my laptop to take on a simple multi-cam wedding project. While expecting a learning curve with any new editing software, I found this software to be more complicated than it should have been or had to be. Too many unnecessary steps to achieve the same results in other editing software I have used. The sync by audio worked nice, but there were icons shown in the manual and in training videos on YouTube that were posted by Corel themselves, yet I was not seeing these same icons on my screen. Lots of live chats and emails with tech support over a week (with a client waiting for their video) and no one could give me answers to why I did not have these important icons in my toolbar. I finally did figure it out on my own. There were several new glitches every time I turned around and it was constantly crashing. One good thing I can say is that at least when it crashed, I usually did not loose any work I had done excpet when I did lose any work, it was usually only a few small steps that I could quickly run back through, although one day I went through about an hours worth of work 4 times. I would have manually saved more often than I did, but it seems like every time I go to save what I currently had, in stead of updating a previous save it always wanted to treat it as if it were a new file so I would up with several files that had to be named and it got more confusing as I went along. The chaptering/menu was a crazy process. After I finally got through the editing process and tried to burn to disc or render to an MP4 or AVI file, it would not burn to disc or render the files. When I finally got it to burn a disc and thinking I was finally home free with that project, it turned out that I had wasted about 20 discs as they would not play back in a DVD player and the rendered files wound up either cut short or with very bad glitches and degraded quality that was not visible in the raw footage.I'd rather shoot and edit on VHS again than use this editing software.

Title: Best Buy Award
Review: I was looking for a replacement video editor for a now non-supported software called MoviePlus X6 by Serif, (who is now Affinity.) I still use MoviePlus X6 for some jobs because of its "makes sense" user interface, where things are well placed and do what they say they do. But I can only import WMV files to edit after losing unlock codes licensing. I have used a "trial" version for just about everything out there and landed with Corel Ultimate 2020. It mirrors my MoviePlus X6 in a lot of ways and is very flexible for my needs. (Music videos, sports game day films) And at the Amazon pricepoint break from retail, I had to grab it. I had the trail installed for a test run and it ran smoothly (Windows 10) pre/post rendering without any adjustments from the default settings. I am very pleased with this product and the download from Amazon was seamless. The leaning curse is not steep at all.

Title: Software working great with lots of options.
Review: Using mostly to digitize VHS tapes to mpg and mp4 files. So far, I've found this software to be AWESOME!!! I have limited knowledge of this software and other software, but, I have found this software is great in copying VHS tapes as the color is great as it appears to use color based on skin color. I've used the following features and results have been great: convert mpg files to mp4, trimmed files, used the anti-shake filter (which worked great), etc. So far, the software is well worth the money I've spent. I look forward to using the software to do the following: reverse flow 180 degrees, speed up or slow down playback, merge sound and video, etc. I'm really looking to trying these features.
Customers say
Customers like the user interface and features of the product. They mention it's a very nice program and powerful. However, some customers have reported issues with value for money, crashes, and functionality. They also say the download speed and install time are disappointing. Opinions are mixed on ease of use.
