Title: Great
Review: Haven't really explored all the options available, but for the work I have done with this software I find it to be excellent. The learning curve isn't terribly steep and the results are quite nice.

Title: Untrustworthy company
Review: I never had a chance to use the product. When you purchase itva code is mailed to your home. That's right mailed! Than you have to log on to the website enter the code and download your purchase. However my code didn't work. So I went into live chat with a Corel rep. Who said she could fix the problem if she can access my computer and work remotely. During the first 45 seconds she was on my desk top and clicked on my file labeled 2020 Tax Return and proceeded to open the file. At that point I stopped the remote process and vehemently complained to Corel who to date has ignored me. Untrustworthy company.

Title: Does the job.
Review: I needed and wanted to shoot in RAW. I can get in and out of the program, not by the book, but enough to get the job done. I spend an hour or two each week to get deeper into the program. Be aware, you need a lot more of hard drive space if you shoot a lot.

Title: Not for Beginners. Intimidating Interface
Review: Not for beginners. I'm not sure how many times it lets you download it, but I successfully downloaded and opened both the PC and the Mac versions on one serial number. The interface looks the same on both platforms, and is not easily intuitive. I can see it is built for professionals who might want to perform the same task on many photos at the same time. I mostly just crop and lighten, and it was not readily obvious to me how to do those tasks. On the Mac, iPhoto can crop and lighten easily, even fix some easy flaws. When PhotoShop became a monthly subscription, I switched to Photoshop Elements, which is the same price as this, and at least it has a Guided routine for idiots like me, and is easier to figure out. Not sure I would recommend this to anyone other than event and wedding photographers, but the price is reasonable if you have the patience to learn it. If you want free, there's still Gimp and Acorn (I think) that does very basic photo editing.Update: the second time I worked with it, I found it puts an .xmp extension on the photo files so none of my other photo programs can open it, and I could not figure out how to do simple things like export a photo as just a .jpg or even close the file. So I got very aggravated that this program has such a steep learning curve.

Title: 2 bugs and limited raw support
Review: I really wanted to love AfterShot Pro 3, since I am stuck on Photoshop and Bridge CS6 and need a new alternative that has up-to-date raw support. CS6 is no longer being updated by Adobe, and I refuse to pay a monthly subscription to get a newer version. Unfortunately, AfterShot Pro 3 cannot fulfill those needs because it has some program bugs and limited camera support for raw processing.Bug #1: The program will throw up an error message and force close when trying to read certain jpegs. It took 3-4 days of emailing back and forth with Corel customer support before we were able to figure out what was causing the errors, and it happens to be certain jpegs. Hereâs the thing: No other graphics program on my PC has issues reading these jpegs, and that includes Photoshop CS6, IrfanView, FastTone Image Viewer, Windows Photo Viewer, and Microsoft Paint. So clearly this is a bug within AfterShot Pro 3. When I asked the Corel support person if this is something Corel may fix soon, this is the response I got back by email:âThe issue that you contacted us about has already been directed to our engineering team to look into and hopefully get resolved in a timely fashion. The earliest a fix is possible is in a future service pack or new version. We cannot comment on what may (or may not) be in as yet unreleased software. This includes both features and fixes.âBug #2: The white balance eyedropper does not work. I repeatedly used the eyedropper to touch areas of photos that should be neutral, and the photo never changes in expected ways. A few times, yellow casts in a photo became even more pronounced! When I opened up the same jpegs in Photoshop CS6 and used the white balance tools in either camera raw or a plug-in, the pictures changed as expected.Limited camera support for raws: I put together a folder of raws from a Canon EOS M10 and a Sony A6300. I was surprised that AfterShot Pro could not read the raws from either camera. I could maybe understand this failure in the case of the M10 as it is not a very popular camera in the U.S. However, Canon is a major camera maker and I would expect all their cameras should be supported. And, in the case of the Sony A6300, it is currently one of the most popular cameras that shoots raws. I suspect eventually AfterShot Pro 3 may eventually support the A6300, but to not do it now doesnât speak well for its raw capabilities. There are things I do like about AfterShot Pro 3. It has a really nice interface, and seems to have all the tools necessary for properly sorting and tagging lots of photos. It also has nice basic functionality for doing quick image editing. If not for the bugs â and if I had a camera whose raws it supports â I would be adopting the program for basic image sorting, archiving, and simple edits. But for now, I will have to find some other alternative to Photoshop Bridge.
