Title: Woooow
Review: I already love pears. Just the basic pears you can get at the grocery store. And almost anything pear flavored. Then I stumbled across these pears which were apparently even better somehow. I didn't understand how that was possible, at least in a particularly noticeable way, but I though I would give it a try and worse case scenario I would have spent more money on pears that taste about the same as what I've always had. Then these babies came in the mail. They are the. best. pears. I have had. in. my. life. I cannot begin to convey to you how amazingly delectable they are. Somehow they are soft, and they have the best texture in the existence of food. I felt like I was eating something that couldn't possibly be healthy at all, yet it is an unaltered piece of fruit. This is like nothing you would find in a store. I feel that it would be a disservice to humanity to not share how these changed my life. Even if you don't like pears, you would be crazy not to love these. I plan on buying these as random gifts as well as to treat myself more and more in the future. If you are even considering purchasing these, just do yourself a favor and put them in your cart now. If they are a gift, get yourself some too.

Title: Not Even Close! - Received a box of D'Anjou pears with a label for Comice
Review: These are definitely NOT Comice pears. I have been eating Comice pears for several decades, and these are very clearly D'Anjou pears (admittedly pretty ones but not worth $30+) which I could buy at any local supermarkets. I intended to treat myself to some pears as I live in the Great Plains now, but lived in the NW for 30 years and had easy access to Comice pears in season every year. Imagine my disappointment on opening the box and finding all these pretty-but-completely-wrong pears!I saw the same on another review, and think the company really needs to get their act together, because any grower of Comice pears ought to have no trouble telling them from D'Anjou! The shape is different, the color is different, the skin is different and, most of all, the aroma and taste are COMPLETELY different.FOLLOW UP NOTE: I took my complaint to Amazon, and they had another box shipped to me; the second box did contain actual Comice pears. Later on, I noticed that the seller had added a comment on the page that they may substitute other pears. But d'Anjou pears sell for $1-2 per lb, and are commonly available even in the Great Plains, while Comice are not only more expensive but much more difficult to obtain outside of the NW. I'd never knowingly spend $30 on 9 d'Anjou pears! I think the seller should restrict the shipping to the season in which they can really ship Comice pears, rather than substituting an inferior variety during off-season.FWIW, for those who do receive Comice pears: Comice pears have a very thin skin and so bruise easily, are more yellow when ripe than d'Anjou, have a stronger flavor, and are extremely juicy (if you cut a ripe one with a knife, it will drip.) When Comice first became available, it was common to have them for dessert, eaten with a spoon. They are far softer than most ripe pears, so unsuitable for cooking but fabulous for eating in-hand.

Title: Sweet and Juicy
Review: Yum! A bit proxy for a box of pears but the taste is nothing short of delightful. Sweet and juicy. Pairs perfectly with cheese or a nice brandy. Will order again when the weather warms up and try grilling them with a reduced brandy sauce. Can't wait for the next box.

Title: They are NOT Comice Pears.
Review: These are not Comice pears, but dâanjou, as stated clearly on the label on each pear, therefore itâs a misrepresentation of the product. Moreover, The pears are rock hard, unripe and unsweet. I will try putting them in a paper bag to see if they ripen but I donât have much hope. Considering how much they cost I expected much better. I donât recommend.I amended my review to 3 stars. After I placed in them in a paper bag for several days they became more ripe and hence were sweeter.

Title: YUM!
Review: I bought these as a substitute for Harry and David's Royal RIveria Pears. They are quite suitable. While they are not exactly the same, they are comparable and I highly recommend them. They are sweet, delicious, and arrive ripe. They are not quite as big nor as elegantly tasty as Harry and David "magic," but they are far more affordable. I gifted them to myself, but would definitely send them as a gift to anyone else any other day.

Title: Juicy and delicious
Review: This would make a perfect gift. Actually it was a gift from me to me. These comice pears have a flavor like no other. They were beautifully packed and the juice ran down my arm. An absolutely wonderful treat for myself or anybody

Title: Really bad.
Review: These were probably the worst Comice pears I've had. I bought 2 boxes (18 pears total) and MAYBE 6 were OK. I kept them refrigerated, and set out 3 or 4 at a time to ripen. Most of them seemed like they started to spoil, starting inside at the core (light tan to brown colored flesh around the core).. I learned after biting into the first one, to cut them in half first. In fairness, maybe this was just a bad year for Comice pears in general, as I saw more than a few bad reviews at Harry & David's, and there were no Comice pears available locally.
Customers say
Customers like the quality and gift value of the product. They mention it's top-quality fruit and a great gift for loved ones. However, some customers have reported that the pears are not ripe and hard as rocks. They also dislike the texture and color. Opinions are mixed on the taste.
