Review: I bought this for a side table decor and put a couple of bags of not sure what you'd call those but kind of like the potpourri bags you can buy but have other things like balls made of natural materials etc. that you put in a bowl. Anyway, it looks beautiful, matches our coastal/natural and woven materials vibe in the dining room (we got the natural bamboo one) and gets complements. don't use it for salad but it's very solid material and could hold a medium to large salad.
