Title: Confused about the Reviews? READ THIS!
Review: Amazon has labeled this a "frequently returned item" so I had to read the comments to see if there was any common thread. I then ordered the heater and it's fine, it's a heater you put in your garage and if it's reasonably insulated the heater will eventually make it comfortable to work in there. The issue, I believe is that they called it a GARAGE heater, so now it's being reviewed by mechanics who are used to fire-breathing Salamander fuel heaters. Probably Vornado's fault for marketing it at that demographic and making it look industrial. But this is an ELECTRIC heater and it can't compete with traditional kerosine heaters, you're going to have to turn it on, then come back in about an hour if you're heating a cold garage. Long story short, this is a good ELECTRIC heater, and b/c it's electric, don't expect it to set the world on fire.

Title: Ineffective possibly defective
Review: Purchased to assist keeping a room warm. I have old ceramic heaters of same rating that put out way more heat. These would have a hard time heating a closet. I cannot feel any perceptible heat even on high. The smell produced is nauseating. Not worth the money. My toaster buts out more heat.Note that on the one I tried the plug end of cord actually got much warmer in minutes than the heater ever did. This indicates resistance in the connection between current carrying wires and the prong of plug. Such ineffective connections are a cause of electrical fires.

Title: Good heater, but not for intended purpose
Review: I purchased this heater to use in my garage. I had realistic expectations. I knew that no heater of this power rating was going to make my garage toasty in cold weather, or even heat all of it. I had just hoped to take the chill off a little bit in the area around my workbench. The heater is solidly built. The fan operated as intended. Both the low and high settings worked. At the time I attempted to use it, the garage was 40 deg F. My garage is detached and uninsulated, but it is well sealed. After the heater was running for a while, I took some temperature readings on it using an infrared thermometer. Shooting through the front grill, I got readings as high as 295 deg F. Shooting at the V emblem in the middle of the grill, I got 91 deg F. Shooting at the front edge of the side of the discharge, it read 51 deg F. The last temperature represents what I was experiencing. In a warmer and smaller environment, this heater would probably work well. Its only limitation in that regard is that it doesn't have any type of temperature control other than low-fan-high. If the heater is heating faster than heat is being lost, you could really cook the area it's being used in. For that reason, I don't feel that this would be an appropriate heater for general household use.In actual use in the garage, this heater accomplished nothing. With it on the floor about 8 feet away, I could feel the fan, but no heat. With it sitting on my workbench (which they say not to do) at around 3 feet away from me, I felt the fan even stronger and no again no heat. In both instances the heater was set on high, and had been running long enough to have warmed up.The issue is a matter of design vs. use. In order to get a sufficient temperature rise from the space heater, the fan needs to be slowed down in order to raise the discharge temperature high enough to actually do some good. While the heater is in fact heating, the air is only being warmed by a few degrees; 50 deg F is not "warm". Since the air leaving the heater isn't warm, the fan is acting as a fan, creating a wind-chill effect, which results in it being subjectively colder with the heater blowing anywhere near you than without it.To get warm air at cool room temperatures, you need raise the temperature of the heating element. You can do this by slowing down the fan (resulting in lower airflow, and a smaller area of air circulation) or b) run the heat exchanger hotter. Since one of the selling points of the vornado units is that they don't have glowing heat elements, I'm guessing that isn't an option here.Unless you are attempting to heat a fairly small space or one that only needs to be warmed up a little bit, this heater is going to struggle to accomplish much. To get any usable heat in a garage at this wattage, you need a radiant/infrared quartz, filament (think toaster) or heat lamp, preferably without a fan. The heating element in radiant heaters is more in the 1,100 deg F range as opposed to the under 300 deg F this heater has. Radiant heaters act more like sunlight or a fireplace, directly heating the objects exposed to it, not the air in between. This isn't a bad little heater, it's just not appropriate for use as a garage heater, at least not when the starting temperature is anywhere below 60 degrees.

Title: A trade off: Modern features for Portability/Durability
Review: This space heater is worst in class when it comes to performance. When it comes to performance I would say this falls into the class of an entry level $40 personal space heater. This space heater is significantly louder than any space heater Iâve owned; itâs louder than a $10 box fan and theres only one fan speed in which you canât turn off. It has no thermostat; zero modern features such as Bluetooth control or a basic timer. This heater is twice the cost of others in its class. I think the company was banking on itâs robust build and portability to win people over. Is an extra $40+ worth the trade off of modern features for a robust portable design?Itâs a good looking unit; the frame raises the actual unit from the ground making it much more suitable for dirty garages and or job sites and the handle and âcool touchâ housing makes it easy to transport or even hang from a hook for some downward heat as you work. The reach / fall of isnât grand. As shown in their product images the reach is that of a âwork benchâ so roughly 4ft. I tested itâs reach using a paper windmill and at 6ft the windmill didnât move at all. This unit has a strong odor and after 3 weeks of continuous daily use the odor didnât even fade.I would not suggest this for home use. Without a timer or thermostat I would not feel comfortable leaving this unattended running continuously for hours; in fact the manufacturer specifically recommends not doing so but if durability and portability is your main concern this heater may still interest you. Most garage heaters are massive and costly but of course they work significantly better. This âwork benchâ space heater is a good concept but unfortunately I found that it under performed based on similar sized units on the market and lacked common features.

Title: Good Little Heater!
Review: As you can see my inverter is running this heater in my 8 X 10 greenhouse. According to my inverter it is using 1375 watts on high keeping my greenhouse a nice 75 degrees. This is exactly what I have my thermostat set at. I have a thermostat that I plug in the heater into then into my inverter and a fan for cooling if I choose. It works great! Saves me about 12 hours a day off grid. I then use a small propane heater at night if there's no wind because my wind turbine can run the heater all night if it's turning good. Saves alot of money in the long haul with my electric bill. Hope this helps folks!
Customers say
Customers like the build quality and appearance of the space heater. They mention it's well-constructed and looks good. However, some customers have reported that it barely pushes any heat, is not worth the money, and has issues with air flow. Opinions are mixed on functionality and noise level.
