Title: Very Effective!
Review: I bought two of these - one for my DIL and one for myself. This product is well-made and designed. It's very useful, and I love it! However, the brush they included for cleaning is cheap, flimsy, and useless. They embarrassed themselves with its inclusion.

Review: I didn’t use the mat to file off the outer layer. But i put a piece of garlic section with outer layer and it squeezed out garlic juice with a few shreds of minced garlic. It sends lower yield but still a much cheaper way to have fresh garlic and not have Hans smelling like garlic. Very quick process, just plan to out more than one clove

Title: Press does what it's supposed to do...the peeler is fun
Review: This garlic press does well; garlic is nicely minced into small pieces and because the unit opens up it's easy to clean. It comes with a garlic peeler "tube" which, surprisingly, does a better job at peeling than one would expect. Peeling several cloves at once is quite convenient!

Title: This is an acceptable garlic press if...
Review: I have had a Pampered Chef garlic press for years. It is a very good one except that it is not stainless steel. When the coating wore off, my garlic came out looking gray. Not sure what that is, but it can't be healthy! So I went shopping to replace it with a stainless steel one. This one looked good and had fairly high reviews. One or two gave bad reviews stating that the garlic smashed up the sides of the press instead of pressing through the holes designed for it to go through. But those reviews were definitely in the minority. The first time that I used this press, my first thought was that it sure didn't press out much garlic. When I examined to see why, I found the garlic smooshed up the sides of the press just like the reviews said. I have used it several times with the same results. When I finally had enough and decided to send it back, I wanted to take pictures to show what I was describing. For some reason, I pulled out the little tube that they sent with the press. I had never used it, but it was supposed to peel the garlic (which I never had to do with the Pampered Chef press). So I decided to give it a try. It was so easy to peel the garlic! Then I put it through the press and noticed that a LOT of garlic had come through. Then I opened it to look at the sides of the press. There was a only small amount of garlic on the sides. So, I learned that this press is acceptable IF you are willing to peel the garlic first. And they send you a nifty difty press with which to peel it! So I raised my rating from a one star to three stars! AND I don't have to go to the trouble of sending it back!
