Review: This is the most realistic German Cookbook written by Germans . Dr Oetker is a brand name you can count on for over 100 years .A lot of books and recipes claiming to be German are really Bavarian . There is a lot more to German cooking than Sauerkrautand wurst and this book covers it . Like Texas cooking is different from Vermont cousine , different regions have different tastes.Soups , roasts , rouladen and vegetable salads are tasty, hearty and well seasoned , dumplings and spaetzle are interesting .Cakes and coffee , bund and fruit cakes are served in the afternoon with coffee and for breakfast rather than dessert . Desserts are puddings , fresh fruit when available and fruit compote preserved for the winter . Home made cookies are more for special occasions like Christmas , store bought ones are good and not overly sweet . If you are looking for a real German cookbook Please try this book . Recipes are in gramm and cup measurements , instructions are clear and well written .
