Title: An Overall Good Compilation of Broadway Piano Solos
Review: Overall this is a good compilation of Broadway Piano Solos that is a good value. There are 70 different Broadway song arrangements that span the 1920's to the early 2000's. The difficulty level ranges from mid-intermediate to late-intermediate/ advanced so there is room to grow for someone at a lower skill level. However if your more of an advanced player this can be frustrating because you won't find the simpler arrangements satisfying thus lowering the true number of useful arrangements in this book for you. For instance "Younger Than Springtime" is at the lower end of skill level while "With One Look" is at a much more advanced level. Hopefully some of the songs in this collection that you really like will be arranged at your skill level. As a previous reviewer noted their are many different styles in this book which can be a good thing since everyone's tastes are different. Though again this could further reduce the number of songs you'll find satisfying. Also as the previous reviewer indicated the arrangers are not credited though I do recognize some of the arranger's works because I have them in other compilations. Many of them were arranged by Louis Singer about 50 years ago: "Old Devil Moon", "How are Things In Glocca Morra", "The Party's Over" and "On The Street Where You Live" amongst others. Philip Keveren's lovely extended version of "Edelweiss" is also included. All being said this book is still a good value because despite the unevenness of the arrangements you're almost certain to be pleased with enough of them to make the book worth it. The book is bound well. It opens to any page and remains flat without having to put much stress on the binding, I consider myself to be at the late intermediate/ early advanced level and some of the arrangements I found to be standouts include: "Hey There", "You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me", "Maybe This Time", "Mack The Knife", "Tonight", "Somewhere" and a delightfully bouncy version of "If I Only Had A Brain."

Title: Great song selection
Review: Usually I already have most of the songs in a new book, but this one covers a lot that I don’t. The arrangements aren’t all bad. Not great.

Title: odd anthology
Review: I am a retired music teacher, and enjoy playing the piano for amusement. I got this book as a gift, and was delighted until I began to play through the pieces. All are indeed Broadway solo selections, but nowhere are the arrangers noted. And - those arrangers are obviously not of equal ability. Some of the songs are wonderful. Others leave me wondering "What was this guy thinking?" The worst ones try to mix several styles into one solo, making nothing cohesive, or, a 2 bar jazz chord ending is tacked onto an otherwise straightforward piece. That being said, there are some gems that are included, and I've sorted through the book, labeling the good, the bad and the so-so.

Title: Difficult level
Review: If they would just show one page of the book it would save a lot of time as far as degree of difficulty

Review: I am really enjoying playing the pieces in this book. There are many lovely arrangements. I particularly like the arrangements of ‘ I Dreamed a . Dream’ from Les Miserables and ‘Tonight’ from West Side Story. Some of the pieces I don’t know so will probably not play them but there are plenty of pieces that I do know. The standard ranges from around Grade 4-Grade 7.
