Title: Good basic beginning
Review: Good solid path to playing lead guitar. Learning a bunch of licks is cool, but knowing how to stitch them together is another thing. This is a good way to get back to basics and learn good technique in the process.

Title: Solid information to build skills!
Review: I am often very leery of theory guides and especially those that seek to teach you a specific technique when it comes to guitar. But this book does a great job of not only explanation but giving you practical examples to build those skills. I ended up buying 5 books from this series of books as I found them so useful. Coupled with the ability to get audio samples to hear the information as well it makes it a great learning tool.

Title: Great for learning Beginner LEAD guitar.
Review: Since I had played rhythm guitar before I wanted to take a try at lead guitar. Although I am still in the first part of the book, I have found it to be very easy to understand. It was easy to download the examples to hear how the lessons should sound. I should note that it is Not a beginners book to learn Basic guitar. You should know your way around a guitar, like basic cords, the fret board etc. An included CD would have been nice for those without access to the internet.

Title: Excellent approach to lead guitar - just enough theory with plenty of examples & licks
Review: I have bought a few theory books and they all end up describing the scales and then providing pages on pages of reference. What i needed was a book that took those reference points - shapes - what have you - and put them into practice. For the newbie scales and intervals are complex - this book takes a practical approach to helping you learn "by doing" with the examples so that you are playing/practicing right away. The book starts out with coverage of the pentatonic scale and gets you going. You aren't just presented with the notes of the scale - but ways you can use them - something sorely missing from a lot of those other books that turn out to just be reference.Don't let me mislead you - you go beyond the pentatonic and a lot of ground is covered here (blues, major and minor pentatonic scales). This all is just enough to get you going - backing tracks, solid examples. It's a solid foundation for you to start noodling your own phrases. This is the first book in this brand I have read - and also by this author. I have since purchased a few more from the line and the author - The Guitar Finger Gym and The First 100 Strumming Patterns for Guitar.

Title: Not exactly what I expected.
Review: I thought there would be tabs showing lots of popular riffs. I suppose this book would be valuable for exercise.

Title: A very helpful guide to learning lead guitar
Review: I recently purchased Simon Pratt's Beginner Lead Guitar Method to give me help in learning to play lead guitar. I started playing mostly folk style guitar (cowboy chords) about 20 years ago as a self taught adult and never had any formal musical training growing up. Last year I got my first electric guitar ( Ibanez AS73) and started taking lessons from an accomplished professional jazz player. He introduced me to the pentatonic minor blues scale and told me to learn it inside and out. What I have found extremely helpful in Simon's book is that he gives a series of simple, well explained exercises on how to develop the skills to get that done. I feel like my understanding of the pentatonic scale is now developing faster than before. Therefore, I recommend this book to other beginner level guitar players.

Review: Stupendo!!
