Title: GUMBO SHOP: A New Orleans Restaurant Cookbook
Review: I had the opportunity to visit the amazing Gumbo Shop in New Orleans a couple of months ago. I fell in love with New Orleans and the Creole/Cajun way of cooking. I bought this cookbook, and I have to say the gumbo I make from them is AMAZING! It's restaurant-quality for sure. The recipes are easy to make. You might think it would be impossible to find turtle meat or blue crabs where you live but you can find these items with a little ingenuity. It's well worth the effort. In a pinch, I have taken a few shortcuts (like using store-bought chicken or fish stock instead of making my own), and the results are still spectacular. I highly recommend this book!

Title: Amazing Gumbo
Review: The chicken and andouille sausage recipe in this book (we swap the chicken out for shrimp but have had chicken before) is AMAZING. My family is addicted. Canât wait to try the jambalaya recipe!

Title: Authentic New Orleans Cuisine
Review: My wife and I spent a few days in New Orleans and the food was phenominal. Our first stop was the Gumbo Shop - we waited a while for a table but sat down and were blown away by the tastes! We bought a N.O. cookbook and it looked good, then stumbled upon this one. Tried the chicken and andouille gumbo - recipe is great and taste just like the restaurant. I will caution, it takes a good amount of care and feeding, but well worth it. I can't wait to try more of the recipes - must read if you enjoy genuine New Orleans food.

Title: Gumbo Shop Cookbook
Review: I was motivated to write this review when I read another review from a person in Alexandria, VA, who said the recipes and the restaurant was for tourists and that a native from Louisiana would never use it. I was born and raised in Louisiana and my mother was raised in New Orleans. I have tested almost every recipe in this book and 90% of them are, in my opinion, fabulous. This is how my grandmother's dishes tasted when I was a little girl. It's the real thing, not gourmet, but how many "normal" people are gourmet cooks? After family and friends sample a recipe, they either ask how they can get the cookbook or ask for the recipe. I've purchased around 10 as gifts. In fact, that's why I was on the site today... buying another copy!
