Liam O’Connell and Mabel Garcia have a lot in common.

Big dreamers. White chocolate lovers. Supernatural movies and TV shows enthusiasts.

Oh, and they’re both hopelessly in love with each other (but haven’t had the courage to confess it yet).

High school pen pals turned texting best friends, they’ve been inseparable for two years, their friendship packed with laughter and heart-warming banter.

But things are beginning to change now.

Mabel is getting impatient with her need to finally see Liam in person, and he’s too busy hiding behind his walls.

Every time Mabel asks him to hang out, Liam finds a way to dodge her attempts.

Until a chance encounter at the local bar leaves them with mixed emotions and unresolved feelings.

Can Liam get over his insecurities, or will he lose the girl of his dreams before he’s even had her?

The Guy For Me is a cutesy, best-friends-to-lovers, college romance novella under 40k words. This story contains a shy, dirty-talking hero, an empowered, sunshine heroine, some strong language, and sexual content. Reader discretion is advised.

Title: A perfect short and sweet read!
Review: This was adorable and hot as heck from start to finish!I loved watching the relationship between Mabel and Liam develop over time. These two are a perfect example of a realistic couple! I loved how their sizes were outside of the typical and more representative of an actual person. If you are looking for a quick read with plenty of spice and awesome body positivity, you will love this one!!

Title: So Sweet and Fun (and spicy!)
Review: This novella was adorable and I had a great time reading Mabel and Liam’s story! Liam’s struggle with his self-esteem was a huge part of this story and I think the author did a great job with him. The steam was SO GOOD; there’s nothing like a mountain man with a touch of praise kink. Yum! I could’ve read another 100 pages, 4.5 stars 🌟

Title: Cute story with just the right amount of spice.
Review: I enjoyed this book so much. I needed a palate cleanser from my horror stories and this was just what I needed. Very cute story and easy to read. The spice wasn’t over the top and was realistic. I also love a book with self love.

Title: Cute!
Review: I'm not always a fan of novellas, but I am always looking for plus size heriones, and was so excited when I saw this cover. Even more when I saw that there was a plus size hero as well. This was such a cute story. I adored the instant friendship/ connection between Liam and Mabel. The plus size rep was great, there was no third act breakup and it did do what I love about romance (sweet, swoony and steamy). I will say that there were some things that took me out of the story like how/ why it would take so long for them to connect IRL, and how repetitive little things were. But ultimately this was the quick read I needed and I would be interested in seeing what the author does next.

Title: Somehow manages to be both cringey AND boring
Review: I really, really wanted to like this book. Best friends to lover is my favorite trope, and when I found out this novella was about pen pals, I was totally and completely psyched. Add in a plus-sized hero and heroine, andI was completely sold. I was imagining a cute epistolary format (or at least a few more letters than the 2 included in the prologue) and cute dialogue. This fell short for me.The dialogue and narration are both very, very awkward. The phrasing is frequently clunky and feels unnatural. Honestly, for some reason, it reminded me of the Steve Buscemi "hello fellow kids" meme.Speaking of "fellow kids," these characters did not feel college-aged. They would alternate between way too immature and way too adult without ever really hitting that new adult sweet spot. The hero sends the heroine money to get her nails done as a little treat, but then he talks about how good it feels to "provide for her" while she is living at home with her parents. Similarly, the heroine talks about how good it feels to "provide for" her parents by buying them a boardgame. Really weird. The hero was bullied growing up, and he has some body image issues. It's really refreshing to see that in a hero, and I loved how he was the one struggling with that instead of the heroine. Unfortunately, the heroine often felt weirdly pushy about making him like himself, like she could just talk him into seeing himself in a new way. I hate the "I love you so you should love you" thing so much. Maybe that could have been handled better in a longer format. The "spicy" scenes were gross. I am not one to balk at those scenes, but these had me reading with my nose scrunched up. If the dialogue was awkward during nonsexual scenes, that was nothing compared to how cringey it got during spicy scenes. The virgin hero is a dirty talker, which is fine, but this dirty talk that was supposed to be oh-so-steamy to the heroine was laughable. It also felt like the spicy scene was written for completely different characters. Nothing about their physical coupling fit with the relationship we'd seen before. This book and its premise had so much potential. I would have loved to see it blossom into something special. I wish I'd listened to my gut and checked out during the prologue. If you're reading a sample and thinking the writing sounds strange and stilted, trust me that it does not get better.

Title: Cute and dirty
Review: It can be difficult to find a story about a plus sized babe where she's the actual hero of her own story and shown in a positive light but this story does it right! I loved how confident Mabel is and how Liam is the epitome of gentle giant. It was a lovely (and spicy) love story!

Title: More like 2.5
Review: There were parts I did like, decent telling of insecurities and I liked that the MMC was insecure not just the FMC (hers was more shyness than insecurities) but the parts I didn't like I seriously didn't like. The, going back and forth between long monologues of undying love to debasing dirty talk doesn't work for me. Just one of my peeves it might be great for someone else. It is one worth giving a shot to see

THIS WAS SO GOOD OH MY GOD.Literally my fave tropes - secret penpals and friends to lovers????!!!!!!?!?!?? Yes please🤤🤤🤤I loved the pacing of this novella, the development from being penpals to best friends to lovers was so well done. It didn’t feel rushed at all. I loved how well they communicated with each other and how much of a cute fluffy romance this was.The plus size rep in both main characters was soooo good. Alexa play Big Boy by Sza 🤭🤭🤭And the spice????? I’m on my knees for Liam🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️ excellent 😮‍💨😮‍💨This novella was everything I needed to come out of my reading slump. I feel like we were robbed of this being a full novel but either way I’m obsessed and I love it.
