Mai Lieu – Founder and Beauty Expert

Inventor and patent owner of the Original CreaClip and other beauty tools, Mai Lieu, is a Shark Tank entrepreneur and a true innovator in the hair cutting industry. She is an award-winning celebrity hair stylist with more than 20 years of experience.

Her CreaClip has been featured on multiple television shows including Rachael Ray, QVC, HSN, and ABC's Shark Tank where it has gained the trust and interest of investor, Lori Greiner.

The CreaClip is the result of Lieu's inspiring personal development journey of having an idea and the courage to go after it. She went from being a poor immigrant whose mom cut her bangs awfully to an empowered woman manifesting her dreams.

Title: A must have hair cutting tool
Review: Pros:*Works well cutting hair, whether short, long, thick or thin.*lots of educational videos on YouTube and the Creaclip site*There are so many different types of cuts you can do!!!*seems pretty sturdy with a sturdy clip and hinge, which is an issue if you buy knock offs, according to reviews I've read.*you can support the actual inventor by purchasing this, which seems more honest to me (unless the patent has expired)*the level comes in handy at times.*you'll get and give great haircuts and save tons of money and time over going to a salonCons:*Pricey for what it is (altho I bought my on Prime Day for under $25)*harder to use on yourself but still doable and safer than using ponytail holders (yes, I know this by experience😁.)*the long white one is harder to store or fit in a cosmetic bag or case.*a little harder to use on fine hair but still doable and my hair is very fine. (I use child ponytails, if that helps for comparison.)*the white one is unneeded for fine hair and the blue one might need to be longer if you're one of those folks with a ton of fine hair (yea, I'm jealous😜). The blue one works fine on my tiny hair tho.Overall:I've been cutting my OWN hair since COVID. And OMG!!! I love these. I used the blue one to fix my ponytail mess where I cut right through the ponytail at an angle. (To my defense, I had rotator cuff surgery, making it tight to do reach behind my head.) I can't make that mistake ever again with these. Yay!Now I'm thinking I might do the beach cut from YouTube next time, only with an angled Bob. These are big fun for us diy at home hair stylists.

Title: Not Ideal for Thick Hair
Review: I'm picky when it comes to my hair; i can never seem to find a stylist who cuts it just right. So when I read about CreaClip, it seemed like the solution to my problems: a fast, easy way to trim my own hair.I read all the instructions and even watched a few videos on YouTube before giving it a shot. The process was easy enough and the product was very manageable and easy to use. However, the results were less than thrilling..I've always had stylists comment on how thick my hair is and it was especially evident to me while using CreaClip; with all my hair gathered together in the clip, my scissors did not snip effortlessly at the strands like I saw in the promotional videos, but rather my cuts felt chunky and forced. I'm not new to hair cutting; I've cut my own hair without a CreaClip and several of my friends and family's hair as well. I used professional quality scissors and yet, even though I made sure to the the method outlined in the directions for soft textured cuts, I still ended up with very distinct and choppy layers. My conclusion is that CreaClip is most compatible for less thick heads of hair. Thicker hair will end up choppy even if you use the correct method, simply due to the amount of hair being cut at once. Perhaps a way around this would be to cut smaller sections at a time, rather than your whole head of hair; however, I feel that kind of takes away from the point of the product.Overall, I feel like the product has potential, but it is not right for me. I may save it for use when cutting others' hair, however.

Title: I freaking love this thing! A great discovery during a pandemic!
Review: Where has this been all my life??? My kiddo and I have very long, very curly hair with layers added to take out some of the weight. The length is to keep our curls from being too extreme. My kiddo has more spiral curls when her hair is cut well and honestly, it has always been super difficult finding a great hairdresser for myself let alone a kid especially when she was younger. She's been going to my stylist for several years and I've been paying nearly adult prices for her haircuts because it's a LOT of hair and most kids do not have hair down their back with layers. Added to this? I end up having to comb out her hair at the salon and my own after washing because it is tiring for the stylist. It's that much hair so sure, but not exactly the relaxing spa day for the price. Getting my hair done in Chicago is super expensive for cut alone and then you add color and well, the husband complains and doesn't understand. His haircut at the same place is ten times less. Hahaha! It sucks. So yeah. Pandemic. I have asthma, a craptastic immune system with a ton of auto immune fun, and my kiddo had Kawasaki's last year at 8 years old. Her doctors have no idea what would happen if she was exposed so we sheltered early. Our hair also grows very, very quickly (fish, vitamins, and genetics -- yay!). So I was looking for SOMETHING because my kiddo's hair that was cut to fall at her waist in November was by March nearly to her knees when wet and that is just too darn long unless you're Rapunzel.I've had my hair pro cut my whole life and am comfortable doing a trim for split ends or occasional bangs but really wanted to keep our longer layers. This is perfect! This is simple, easy, and quick once you know what you are doing. My suggestions? Less is more. You can always go back in and cut more. Watch the videos for anything more complicated than long layers. I am not comfortable to get in and cut the husband's short hair, so stick with what you know. Don't jump first cut into new bangs and instead go for a super, small trim. Get a good pair of haircutting scissors and if you have a ton of hair like us, a good pair of thinning sheers.I really love this thing because of the level and that your fingers aren't in any danger! I may never have split ends again and wish I'd found it sooner! This is going to save so much time and money! I do think once this pandemic is over I may occasionally go to a salon, but not ever like before! I highly recommend trying this. Now if I could only find a safer black at home dye like Aveda salon's......

Review: Five stars for thickness, but I'm not sure what that means ( maybe " tight"? Anyway, my hair had about 4 inches of damage on it, and it looks and feels much better now! Clip arrived early, even though I panicked when the tracker didn't move for 10 days, and contacted the seller. They were very kind and patient! Excellent customer service!Using the actual clip- So, first run at it, I took very little off with the layering method (used small clip) it only cut the hair in the front of my face, already to the length I wanted in front( I like it long) so i sectioned off the front of my hair and used the clip again on the back to cut down the length. Then I used the over the shoulder clip and trim to make it u shaped. After the cut was in place, I went over it with thinning shears- (the clip took a lot of weight off, but my hair is stupid thick)I've NEVER cut my own hair before, and these tools made it so simple. I wish I could have put the before picture up, but it was giving me problems- picture the hair that comes out of the end of corn! I guess, I would just reiterate what they mention, only start with a little bit, you can always take more off!Thank you Creaclip, I don't think I'll be found in a salon for a long time!

Review: I did have to get help trimming the back of my hair because it’s shorter and was hard to see, but I was able to follow a few different tutorials to get the cut I wanted without having to pay hairdresser prices. My husband was even able to understand how to help me with the bubble level and a quick demonstration of how it worked. Definitely worth buying the original product.

Customers say

Customers like the ease of use, hair cutting ability, and appearance of the product. They mention it's quick and easy to do, and it looks great. Some are satisfied with the idea. However, some customers have reported that the device keeps sliding out of their hair. Opinions are mixed on value for money, cut accuracy, and build quality.
