Title: Works well
Review: Works well at pressing and cooking homemade lunchmeat. I'm guessing this is very niche, but I prefer to do all my own food processing and this is a good gadget to have.Reccomended if you wish to process your own lunchmeat.

Title: Neat Little Gadget!
Review: Ok. So this thing is VERY COOL. It comes with a manual with a few recipes. We went vogue right off the bat, and made a Greek inspired gyro meat of 2 chicken breasts, spices, and olive oil and lemon juice(pureed in our ninja). I know typically gyro meat is roasted on a spit, but I don't have a spit, & really wanted to try this thing out. It came out so good! The directions are vague as far as slicing. We shaved off bits of meat till we got to the corkscrew that packs the meat down, then twisted out the little core of meat in there and sliced the rest. It took me an hour or so to boil the container and bring the meat upwards of 165°. I love the thermometer this little gadget comes with. I will be able to use that for my other stuff as well. Overall, easier to use and more fun than I imagined. This will be a nice addition to my kitchen.

Title: Great way to make healthier deli meats
Review: I love these ham makers. My husband & I enjoy making our own sausage & deli meats. These make the task of making homemade deli meats almost effortless. I do suggest buying ham maker bags to line the cooker with so the finished product is easier to remove from the pan.You can find numerous recipes online for lunchmeats. Any sausage recipe works well for deli meat too, but I reduce the amount of fat added as lunchmeat does not need to be as fatty as sausage does. Any hot dog recipe can become bologna. And the best part is that you make it at home with the ingredients of your choosing. No extra salt, fat, pink slime, cartilage, mystery meat, nitrates, preservatives, e. coli or listeria.

Title: Itâs ok
Review: You have to put on a very low heat because the press heats up really fast and may burn.

Title: Works for veggie burgers
Review: I ordered this ham maker on a lark, thinking it might be a way to press the soon-to-be-cooked Thanksgiving turkey leftovers into sandwich meat for freezing. The recipe booklet that came with the ham maker has a recipe for beef bologna, which my partner likes to buy but which has skyrocketed in price at the grocery store and also has some pretty iffy ingredients. But Iâm always acquiring kitchen gadgets that I wind up giving away because I donât use them very often. I regretted ordering this immediately. Until I actually put it to use!We are trying to cut down on the amount of animal proteins we eat, due to cost but also because I know factory farming is seriously bad for the climate and our likely future, not just our immediate health. Iâd ordered four cans of black bean veggie burger mix for our long-term emergency food storage (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NAVJ1UW) and so thought Iâd try making a roll of that for slicing into veggie burgers for freezing. My partner is a microwave dude and wants to cook everything he eats in the microwave, and we donât often want to eat the same thing. Iâm hoping I can get him to switch to eating better-for-him foods Iâve frozen for him to nuke.Anyway, my initial experience went well. I used the okara left over from one master tofu recipe from Nyugenâs Asian Tofu book, the Augason Farms amounts for eight black bean burger patties, a drained/pressed 16 oz. can of spinach, and one egg. This made too much for the ham maker, but I put it all in anyway after oiling the insides. (As you can see, part of the recipe pushed up past the presser; next time, I wonât put so much into it.) ChatCPT recommended cooking this between 45 minutes and an hour in the ham maker, so I opted for an hour. Then I cooled it down and put it in the fridge overnight.I was expecting it to be very difficult to remove the veggie roll, but after sitting it in a bowl of hot tap water for a few minutes and then inverting it onto a plate, the whole roll dropped right out. I forgot to take a photo of the slices, but it sliced up into ~1/4â slices beautifully without falling apart. I put parchment paper between the patties and put them into a silicone zip-lock bag in the freezer. My partner will now be able to pull one or two out and microwave it just long enough to heat it up. These are just right to crumble onto a burrito tortilla with cheese and whatever other toppings we want.So Iâm very happy to have this ham maker. The stock pot I have is just right for it. What I donât like so much is that the thermometer window fogs up some during cooking and there are crevices in the pressing plate that require some real scrubbing with a brush to get clean. (Do NOT let it sit for any length of time before cleaning it!) I also had a lot of difficulty pressing down the plate enough to get the lid locked on, but I know thatâs because I put too much burger mix into it. Next time I expect a smoother experience. The see-through window is a plus for some kinds of cooking with this (say, if I wanted to steam asparagus spears or maybe make a steamed pudding), but you canât really see whatâs happening to the food if the pressing plate is in place. I can see using this for making gelatin rolls or bread puddings. So itâs not going to be one of those gadgets I give away!

Title: Make Your Own Lunch Meats⦠Perfect for Newbiesâ¦
Review: The whole thing about making your own deli meat is new to me. But, I figured if I am going to make my own, then this is the way to go. There are plenty of recipes out there which makes it easy to use this new tool to experiment. My intent is to use this to try a few recipes and then develop my own over time once I get used to this press. This press is well made and helps to make the process easier when you are a newbie.

Title: Must use 2 pounds of meat
Review: In order to get the condensed shape, you have to use a minimum of 2 pounds of meat (approximately 1 kg). Some ideas include sprinkling the inside with crushed peppercorns or whatever seasoning you desire, and you can make deli meat like chicken, ham, or turkey. I've also successfully made cha lua and had an attempt at seitan logs. I want to try chicken gyro next.To prevent the meat from getting stuck, you can grease the inside with oil, or you can also use food grade plastic bags. The thermometer is a nice touch
