Title: I buy them again and again
Review: I lose these a lot gardening at other peoples’ places. I figure they will last until the homeowner finds them and puts them back to use. Only problem I’ve ever had is once the lock mechanism didn’t quite catch right, and the things would spring open in my pocket. Probably bought 6 of these and 1 didn’t work quite right. Hopefully, I’m unlucky and the odds overall of getting a dud are low. Happy snipping.

Title: Does the Job I Bought It For
Review: I was looking for a hand pruner with a maximum cut beyond the typical 3/8” or 3/4". After doing online research, I found Corona offered several models. I was familiar with the Corona brand and its reputation (I already own Corona Micro Snips—very sharp, very precision cut). From Amazon, I bought the Corona BP7100 DualCut Branch and Stem Pruner, which has a maximum cut of up to 1”. The DualCut offers what Corona calls Precision and Power Zones—precision for smaller cuts and power for the thick stuff. Corona accomplishes this with what it calls a “notched hook” design. I’m not quite sure what that means, but I think it may be related to what caused me a problem right out of the packaging. Before taking the pruners out of the packaging, I noted what looked like a ding or burr on the blade edge in the middle of the blade. I took a photo with the pruner in the package, which I have included with my review (note: the blade is protected by a clear plastic window, which makes it hard to see the ding). Is this supposed to be the “notched hook”? After taking the pruner out of the package, I found I could not close the blade past the bypass anvil. Before I could use the pruners, I had to file down the ding (I bought the Corona sharpener, too, and resharpened the blade). That can’t be right. It must have been a defect. A purchasing feature for me was the Max Forged steel chassis and handles. For a good strong tool, especially a tool like this, forged steel is best. But it also introduces another problem: it can rust easily. After my first use, I sprayed and wiped down the blades and upper chassis with WD40. I put the pruner in the drawer of my toolbox in my garage. The next day when I went to use the pruner, I discovered some surface oxidation and pitting (must have been the humidity in my garage). I cleaned it up with some light steel wool and WD40. Now I keep them inside. I think the steel parts may need some type of coating applied by Corona. It’s because of these two things that I gave the pruner only a 4-star rating, instead of 5 stars. So, how do they work? They’re excellent and have no problem cutting through the thick stuff. The only issue I have with cutting is that sometimes the shrub leaves get caught between the blade’s backside and anvil, which causes the blade to jam. Other things I like are the enclosed spring, the handle bumpers and the soft grips, which don’t slip or move/twist on the handles. Others have complained about the locking mechanism. I’m OK with it. I discovered it can be tightened with a 2.5mm hex wrench to keep it from moving around. Also, if you push the bottom end of the lock handle into the groove, it will keep the blade open, which is handy for sharpening. Would I recommend this pruner and buy it again? Yes.

Title: Simple, elegant design
Review: I mistakenly odered two non-Corona pruners. Both are deficient compared to Corona mqnufqcturing qnd utility. I made the mistake of ordering two other. One the Gonic is so deficient that I am returning it after attemping a few cuts. I have used Coronas for years. I learned a lesson: stay with what you know is good. R. Nelson

Title: Safety broke within 3 months, edges on blade are horrendous
Review: Snipped ok at first, but quickly the plastic safety broke. Blade chipped more than eDy leaving chunks out. Stay away, buy something from us or Sweden if you want something that can hold an edge just cutting 1/4 shrubbs

Title: They work great.
Review: Wasn't sure if I would like these when I bought them, and now that I've used them, I love them. They are great, just what I was hoping they would be. Cut great and feel strong in my hand. The sliding lock has been just perfect, and very easy to use. I work in a garden greenhouse reception center and use the clippers everyday. Like them so much I bought a pair for the greenhouse manager for Christmas and she loves them. Bonus points for me...haha.

Review: Not only used around the garden/yard, I've also been using these snippers/pruners clearing mountain bike trails out in the forest. In combination with the Corona bush saw (again, the best I've owned) and my long-handled pruners, these make the work quick and easy. They are strong, efficient, and more than capable up to (and maybe a little beyond) the 1" limit.

Review: So it looks like Corona has heeded customer complains regarding plastic locking and come up with a metal locking pin, however as you can see in the picture the size of the pin is too big and it doesn't fit into the recess.Or poorly paid worker south of the border drilled the hole in the wrong place.Well both options are not very good for Corona. Also as you can see on the second picture, the range limiting handles protrusions do not match very well.Basically this tool is a laughing stock of tools. That is where cost cutting and production offshoring would get you, Corona.Good luck with losing more customers.

Review: Unlike many of the reviews on this unit, it did NOT arrive with the sliding center lock. It’s in the more traditional location on the side. Seems to work well. Heavy duty. Feels good in the hand. And,…already owned the carbide shape ing tool from them as well. I’m sure they will be grrrreat.
