Title: Best Mediterranean Diet starting place!! My new favorite book!!!!!!
Review: As a family nurse, I constantly encourage my patients to eat healthily. All this time I've been trying to do the same thing myself, but I've been failing. Finally, I decided to get serious about improving my diet. It also gave me the motivation I needed to become more active. I had been feeling tired and fatigued most of my life. After eating the Mediterranean diet for about a month, I had more energy. Maybe I just wasn't getting enough healthy fats in my diet. Either way, I am very grateful to the author for this fantastic book! I know it's almost anecdotal because it's probably just my reaction to this diet, but this book really changed my life!Here is my real opinion of this book, based purely on my personal experience of using it:~~ The problems I found in this book were.1. The menu plan is for a family or at least a couple. If you buy this book for one person, the food will last much longer than the 30-day plan calls for. I just picked a few recipes for myself and try to follow them and repeat meals much more often than the book indicates. I still follow the meal plan as accurately as possible, but not exactly as the book says. I definitely don't use a grocery list because you can spend a huge amount of money and half of your food will rot in the refrigerator because you just can't eat all those foods. I've found that I actually need to buy groceries for about 2-3 days out of a 30-day plan, and that's usually enough for about a week.2- Better to buy a book than the Kindle version of this cookbook. It's so hard to flip forward and backward on the Kindle, so the book is so much easier.~~ Things I love!1. I have more energy! Who would have thought that by following a Weight Watchers-style diet for most of my life, I might have been hurting myself! This is a much healthier way to eat. My mood has really improved. I don't try to fall asleep all day long! I feel like I think better and have become a much more productive person.2. The food is delicious! It has opened my eyes to new ways of cooking, and there is nothing complicated about it.I really wish all of my patients could eat this way, but I realize it's a lot to ask and it's a pretty big commitment for them - but it's definitely worth it!
