Title: Excellent! 3M Provides Superior Sound Protection!
Review: I used these to protect my ears when Iâm working with noisy items or in noisy areas. So far, these have worked wonderfully!Initial perceived quality:These feel like they are extremely high-quality. I was a little bit taken aback at the size of the ear muffs themselves, but thatâs where the protection lies. However, the overall fit, finish, and style are top notch. In Use:When using these, they provide excellent protection from loud sounds. These are very good value for money. The 3M brand is trusted when it comes to blocked the stated decibels. The fit is comfortable, but a little bit tight. The earmuffs are adjustable, which helps find a nice fit. If you use them for extended amount of time, they do get a little bit warm.Overall Rating:5 stars. Unbeatable for the price. Highly recommended! Save your hearing from being damaged!

Title: Best Comfy Sound Protection I've Found.
Review: These are absolutely not the first headphones I've used to try to block out noise. But they're the first ones to fit somewhat comfortably, without squeezing my head like a vice. They are still a little tight, but very secure, and the pressure seems more widely distributed, which is positive. I think with time, I'll be more comfortable. But as far as comfort goes, this is really not bad at all.Other earmuffs (whatever you may call them) are either super cheap, broken, or incredibly tight and painful on my ears and head. One set I even struggled to open apart to put on my head at all. They folded up and took a minute to unfold as well. When I first put these earmuffs on, the world absolutely fell silent. I heard nothing for the first time ever. It was beautiful. I'm impressed in that regard. It actually does what it's supposed to, and it's designed well also. I feel that the design is remarkable. The earmuffs are adjustable in size, but they pretty much fit me perfectly from out of the box. The earpieces are really big and wide in profile. And that is the one sacrifice. I honestly think I might be too embarassed to wear such a big contraption on my head, in public, unless I had no other choice.. actually, I guess it's not that bad. I'm already used to being stared at.And I'm living for myself, and no one else. So who cares? I sure as hell shouldn't. I'd be happy at least.I'm ordering another pair, but in a lesser decimal protection unfortunately. But they look cooler- skinnier, and with some neon yellow flash.I don't shoot guns and I never will. Nor do I work around noisy construction sites. I need to be protected around everyday life, including people, their voices and places.I'm usually pretty fashion-forward. But I also value and need to protect my health at the moment. Health is my number 1 priority. Without it, I have nothing.Besides, because of the even distribution of weight, the Princess Leia look is lighter than it appears.I need these earmuffs to block out sound. I suffer from sensory sensitivity to the point where I'm now in almost complete isolation. Misophonia. Fibromyalgia. Etc.It makes life really difficult when I can't handle normal smells, sounds and lights, or anything rapid in movement. It gets a lot deeper than just that. This is on top of much grief and chronic pain.So these 3M Peltor headphones are the first step to finding some peace in this increasingly noisy world.Oh and another thing.. this won't concern everyone. But the inside of the earpieces are oval and hollow to allow my ears to fit comfortably inside. They fit right around my ears, thus protecting my left triple ear cartilage piercing. It always feels sore if I touch the area around the piercings. But the earmuff earpieces are a really nice fit, and I appreciate that. There isn't great pressure against my ears, and that's vital. So yeah I'm gonna give this 5 stars now. It's not perfect, and it doesn't particularly feel like a snuggly fur scarf. But this is a huge improvement from my past attempts to block out noise.I admit, I will have to get used to these, and they will irritate me sometimes, if I have to wear them for a long period of time. But it's a great start regardless. If you want good sound protection, there is no doubt that these will do it for you. I'm a petite woman, just so you know. I can see how these can fit almost anybody. Women and men alike. Teens as well.I'm pretty happy with this purchase. I just hope that one day the protection can be slimmer in profile, and softer and more comfortable as a whole, without sacrificing the noise blocking ability.Get this. It works. Well.

Title: Great for a shared office setting
Review: I do software programming, and I use the X5As in a shared office setting. The X5A is the best passive noise cancelling earmuff I've ever tried, and I've tested a lot of brands. They work well when used alone. In addition, if you use them with Bose active noise cancelling earbuds underneath, or with regular foam earplugs underneath, you will have a true impenetrable cone of silence. Voices don't get through at all, nor do any other sounds, low or high frequency.Compared with using Bose active noise cancelling over-the-ear headphones in an office setting, these X5As block more noise when used alone (that is, when used with no earbuds or earplugs underneath). When used with earplugs underneath, the two solutions are comparable in how much noise they block. That said, these 3Ms are cheap and the Bose cost multiple hundreds of dollars.I also love that these don't need batteries or charging. In that sense, they're super convenient. They're always ready to go and there are no wires to worry about. A similar advantage is that they're inexpensive, so I bring them while traveling and don't worry about them getting lost or broken. I once left these in a taxi and didn't worry about it like I would expensive noise-cancellers; I just bought a new pair.Outside of an office setting, I also like to reduce noise when I'm on airplanes. For airplanes, active noise cancelling headphones like Bose with foam earplugs underneath are the best option. That said, I've gone on airplanes with these 3M X5A earmuffs, and they are decent -- better than no ear protection at all especially pretty quiet with foam earplugs underneath, even if they don't do as well as active noise cancelling headphones for the low frequency airplane engine rumble.I liked the X5A so much that I also bought the X4A model of this product. I sleep in the X4A sometimes when I want very deep sleep, because they're low profile and comfortable enough to sleep in, and they can be used more nights in a row than heavy duty foam earplugs without ear irritiation. Sometimes I also wear the lighter X4A model around my city apartment because they're not as heavy and bulky as the X5As but still do a pretty great job of noise blocking. Not as impenetrable as the X5A but still really good. All in all, this 3M earmuffs series is absolutely top of the line. I've ordered many of the cheaper and knock-off brands here on Amazon to compare them because I wanted the best product for use in my office and around my city apartment. I'm someone who concentrates better and is more productive when I don't have noise distractions. Hands down, the X5As are the best passive noise blockers of any earmuffs on the market, and the X4As are the best low profile and smaller noise blockers. There are a ton of knock off brands for passive earmuffs, usually made in China by a few relatively less known companies. Some examples are Clear Armour and DD. Those knock off brands are okay but in my opinion, they do not compare with the 3Ms which are the "OG" passive earmuffs. You can order them side-by-side to compare -- they're not too expensive -- but I already did that comparison so you don't have to and you can take the results of my research if you want. The only downside I will mention here is that any earmuffs -- 3M brand or others -- can make your ears sweat if you sleep in them or wear them for multi-hour stretches at work. I think that's inevitable with any earmuffs in this style because they work in part by creating a seal around your ears. It's not a vice-like seal; it's pretty gentle but a seal nonetheless. The way I handle the sweat issue for everyday office use is to switch the earmuffs occasionally with less sweaty noise cancelling options like the Bose noise cancelling earbuds, foam earplugs, or the Bose active noise cancelling over-the-ear headphones which make less of a tight seal because they don't have to.Because you do sweat in these, after extended use they will begin to get a little bit of an odor. The good news is that you can replace the foam padding, and as far as I know, these are the only comparable earmuffs that let you do that. Cleaning with a warm towel and some scented product also works pretty well.Lastly, you can tell by the photos that X5As look outrageously ridiculous. If the photos here are not enough, Google Bose X5A to see some more. These are not earmuffs to take selfies in. They are earmuffs when you have a good reason to wear them. For me, that reason is maximum productivity in my shared office, where a lot of people wear noise blockers of various types. All in all, I'm a huge fan of the X5As and X4As! Very glad they exist. These are a nicely engineered product.

Review: This is AMAZING.. I've used average 3M hearing PPE, and I also just returned the Walker ear muffs that fold up (which were rated as well at 31db NRR..This 3M X5A outperforms the Walker foldable, even though they are both rated at 31 db NRR..COMFORT- I returned the Walker foldable because it was too much pressure on the pads, regardless how I adjusted.. Plus the earlobe area of the Walker was just touching my lobes, adding pressure to that area.. I could only keep the Walkers on for 15-20 mins before I had to shift for comfort.. These 3M X5As are super comfy.. All my comfort issues from the Walker are gone.. There is lots of circumferential, and volume room on the cups of the X5As (they aren't as low profile as the Walker foldable).. I also see more sweat coats from the Walkers due to how tight they are on my skin, with the X5As the pads feel almost breathable in comfort..NOISE REDUCTION- the Walkers are supposed to be 31 db NRR, whether they truly are or some fraction below, I don't know.. What I know is this 3M X5A is rated the same, but is SUPERIOR in noise reduction.. I study in my basement while my daughter and wife are at home during COVID.. With the Walkers I hear faint muffled noise from their talking and my daughter's tantrums.. With the 3M X5A I get a very very faint inkling something is going on upstairs.. With the Walkers the small pocket of isolated air in the cup makes me hear my breathing (and some outside noise), with the X5As greater volume of air in the cup, I barely hear my breathing or noise outside..For the extra $10 or so for these X5As over the foldable Walkers (equal 31dB NRRs), these X5As are WORTH the extra $ for someone who has to study in the basement while wife & child are at home during COVID (and not have to keep shifting the ear muffs for comfort)..
