Sometimes, the most perfect families are hiding the most terrible secrets. How well do you know the people next door…?
Everybody wants to live on Hogarth Street, the pretty, tree-lined avenue with its white houses. The new family, the Wests, are a perfect fit. Katherine and John seem so in love and their gorgeous five-year-old twins race screeching around their beautiful emerald-green lawn.
But soon people start to notice: why don’t they join backyard barbecues? Why do they brush away offers to babysit? Why, when you knock at the door, do they shut you out, rather than inviting you in?
Every family has secrets, and on the hottest day of the year, the truth is about to come out. As a tragedy unfolds behind closed doors, the dawn chorus is split by the wail of sirens. And one by one the families who tried so hard to welcome the Wests begin to realise: Hogarth Street will never be the same again.
A completely gripping, twist-packed psychological thriller, perfect for fans of Liane Moriarty, Sally Hepworth and Lisa Jewell.

Title: Amazing Read!
Review: I could not put this book down! It is so well written, and I have discovered a new author. Nicole's style of writing keeps you on the edge of your seat. "The Family Across the Street" certainly delivers suspense and surprise. Little George and Sophia want nothing more than to protect their Mom and Mom wants nothing more than for her children to be safe. The ending was not what I expected. Life is about chances, not judging a book by its cover, trusting your gut and sometimes just being a busybody! Nicole delivers on all accounts!

Title: The Most Entertaining Psychological Trillers That I Read in Many Years! Enjoy!
Review: The Family Across the Street, was my first exposure to author Nicole Trope, but will not be my last. I have already purchased her book, The Boy in the Photo. This 249-page suspense novel kept me glued to my chair rapidly reading through the wee hours of the morning and wishing I would have begun reading it earlier in the day.Trope knows how to grab the reader at the onset and hold on to the reader throughout the entire compelling tale.At times I was a bit confused by characters; however, I figured it out and I realize that was the authorâs ingenious intent.Set-in modern-day Australia the story begins with two dysfunctional families. Logan and his sister, Maddyâs parents were terrible parents that had a negative impact on their childrenâs lives. Their father always said that Logan would end up in jail. Associating with the wrong people, Logan did end up going to jail after home invasions and smoking a powerful drug. Maddy ended up with Patrick a young man who was severely abused by his father. Patrickâs mom and dad divorced, and his father later committed suicide, but not before he manipulated Patrick into believing that his mother was the source of all of his problems. Maddy ended up in a Melbourne hospital on life support with an induced coma after Patrick beat her nearly to death.Another family, Katherine and John were having troubles of their own. Katherine believed that John was having an affair after she saw heart emojis on his cell phone texts. The strain of raising their 5-year-old twins, George and Sophie was negatively impacting their family and they seemed to be falling out of love with each other. After their elderly neighbors, Lou and Gladys heard Johnâs tires squealing as he left for work Gladys became annoyed. When she noticed that the Katherine and Johnâs blinds were closed and the children had not left for school, she worried that something was not right at Katherines home. Likewise, Debbyâs husband Logan, a postal worker was concerned when he tried to deliver a laptop to Katherine's address. She refused to open the door for a signature resulting in him unable to deliver the computer. As he continued his postal route, he began to think something was wrong at that address. When he tried again, he heard a child at the door make a remark that amplified that concern. The remainder of the tale deals with suspenseful happenings within Katherineâs home and Gladys and Logan worrying about it.This is an enthralling suspense thriller that I recommend as a must read to fans of this genre. It is the best that I have read in years.

Title: The description of the book on the back cover is not at all accurate.
Review: The description on the back cover is not at all accurate; not even close. It is a completely different book than what is described on the back cover. I am not sure if that was intentional as a way to hook readers or if it was just lazy. But either way, I felt duped by the back cover. The book takes place in just a day. It starts out pretty good. In the prologue, one of the neighbors is introduced and then never heard from again. I found that really weird. I thought for sure she would be connected somehow but that never happened. I am not sure why she was even introduced to begin with. The book is told from the perspective of a multiple characters and dives a little into their lives. I thought some of the deep dive into their back stories were a little boring and unnecessary. The book started to drag towards the end because it took forever to get to the end. The twist was actually pretty good. I did not see it coming. There were small clues throughout the book that the person keeping one of the characters hostage was not who you thought it was. However, the reveal of the twist was poorly written in my opinion. I had to re-read it a few times to make sure I was reading it correctly. It seemed kind of sloppy in the reveal. And the last 20 or so pages were so boring, I just skimmed right through them to the end.Overall, this book will be a quick read. The twist is decent but it drags in several places and the flipping around to different characters get tedious after a while. The storytelling was a little sloppy in places. But whoever wrote the back cover description should be fired because the book was not the way it was described AT ALL. I think it actually would have been a better book if it was anything like the description.

Review: I really loved the story line. I do feel like parts of the book became too drawn out, especially the last several pages. The plot was fantastic though.

Review: Nice change of settings for me as this novel takes place in Australia. It took a few chapters for me to "get into it" but I agree that it is indeed an "unputdownable thriller".The countdown approach the author uses contributes a lot to the suspense.I knocked off 1 star because of redundancy in a lot of chapters.
