Are you a fan of Stephen King and Dean Koontz? If you're looking for something fresh and new, join the millions of readers who have already taken the journey to the World's Scariest Places.
From USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling author Jeremy Bates comes a tale of mystery and horror set in Japan's ancient Suicide Forest, a place that is easy to enter but, for some, impossible to leave. Goodreads Choice Awards finalist for horror. For fans of Stephen King and Dean Koontz.
Just outside of Tokyo lies Aokigahara, a vast forest and one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in Japan...and also the most infamous spot to commit suicide in the world. Legend has it that the spirits of those many suicides are still roaming, haunting deep in the ancient woods.
When bad weather prevents a group of friends from climbing neighboring Mt. Fuji, they decide to spend the night camping in Aokigahara. But they get more than they bargained for when one of them is found hanged in the morning—and they realize there might be some truth to the legends after all.

Title: Easy read thriller
Review: Good book for easy reading. Short chapters and pretty interesting concept and story telling. I was hook on the first few chapters but it gotten slow in them middle and thereâs some issue with the characters development. The main character is an English teacher living in Japan for couple of years and met his girlfriend. They decided to go hiking to mt Fuji with friends before their teaching licenses expires and have to go back to their home country. They got lost and weird things started to happened. Itâs not a bad premise just some parts I donât get like they canât speak any basic Japanese after living in Japan for number of years. It doesnât make sense since it couldâve save them alot of trouble in the first place. Also the story only started going super quick on the last few chapters and suddenly it just finished. I wished it was developed more but overall it was still a good and enjoyable read.

Title: Startlingly Spooky!
Review: This book was utterly terrifying. I am a huge fan of the horror genre. I really enjoy suspense and thrill and that tingle up your spine of fear. So when I saw this book by Jeremy Bates, I thought, "The scariest places in the world? I'm intrigued!" And I was not disappointed. In fact, I got much more than I bargained for. This book is set in the Aokigahara Forest in Japan. Japan is a beautiful country with a spectacular culture that I have loved for a very long time, which made several of the references and descriptions instantly come to life for me. I think that even if you know nothing about Japan or the Japanese, though, you will have no trouble picturing the scenes and characters in Suicide Forest. One thing about this book is that it absolutely sneaks up on you. The writing is so straight-forward and simple. The story is told from the first-person perspective of Ethan, an English teacher in Japan who is coming up on the end of his year. He, his girlfriend, Mel, and a small party of friends - and John Scott, who is a big of an outsider - decide that they want to climb Mount Fuji. When that falls through due to weather, they start thinking about a Plan B. A chance meeting with two tourists on their way to the Suicide Forest leads them all into an adventure some of them will never return from and the survivors will never forget. There is a hint of the supernatural here, but it is so deceptive and so subtle, it will have the reader second-guessing themselves on every page. I made the mistake of reading this at night, in the dark, before going to bed. I literally ended up lying awake, spooked beyond words by a shadow moving across my bedroom window. That is how insidious the writing is - it crawls beneath your skin without you even realizing it until you're in a situation that suddenly frightens you when it never would have before. An incomparably good read. I thoroughly enjoyed every startling second, and loved the plot twist at the end. I am definitely a new fan of Jeremy Bates and will be reading his other works.

Title: Meh
Review: The two racial slurs in the beginning of the book felt random, unnecessary, and like they were just there cuz why not? So, in that regard, this book did remind me of Stephen King. I don't know if it was done on purpose so you wouldn't feel that bad when the characters died, but I found all these characters to be unlikable and because they were unlikable I didn't really care what happened to them. The story was interesting, but it was slow paced and it felt like when you watch the dumb bimbo in a horror movie choose to run upstairs instead of out of the house, like it was just dumb decision after dumb decision. The constant flashbacks got annoying. I felt it was very unrealistic that not one of the characters had an issue with any of the group members wanting to see a dead body. Like, really? They were all down to see a suicide victim? None of them thought that was creepy, disgusting, or disrespectful?? Also, the final reveal as to what had been happening and the cause for all the horror the entire time was kinda just like "oh"

Title: Best thriller
Review: Jeremy bates is a genius with his work! I swear this book made me come back for more. I finished this book within a few days, I really couldnât put it down. The level of thriller is perfect, just when you think the story is going one way BAM! It goes another. Cant wait to keep reading his other books.

Review: This book pulls you in right from the start. It has such a dark atmosphere all through the story. The descriptions throughout the book make it easy to imagine the landscape and the dense forest. Being based on a real location makes the characters feel more alive and the story even more dark. Each time you think you know where the story is going it changes, pulling you deeper into the story.I would recommend reading this book.
