Everyone will hear you scream. No one will listen.

Norah can’t stop thinking about the night her brother died.

She was supposed to stay with him at the Halloween carnival. He’d begged her to stay. But they’d fought, and Norah left him alone in the woods. That was before she realized there was a real killer lurking among the costumes and macabre props.

When the carnival reopens just weeks later amid a media controversy, Norah decides to retrace her brother’s last steps in a desperate attempt to unravel what really happened that night. But the woods hold more than just traumatic memories.

Before long, Norah begins to suspect that the killer's choice of hunting ground was no coincidence. And that this nightmare is far from over.

Title: Stay away from corn mazes and abandoned mills
Review: A monster hidden behind a familiar medieval plague doctor mask blends into the Thicket making it easy to murder. The killer is excited to watch the news report share with families about his work. Local parents banned anyone wearing the plague bird mask. Some have petitioned to close the Thicket. Authorities say it’s a one time incident and with increased security and more awareness they can provide a safe place in the Thicket eventhough the killer hasn’t been found.…Noelle W. Ihli knows how to capture her audiences attention. I’m spooked just thinking about these gory scenes. Now I’m not sure I can visit a haunted house in the near future or a corn maze. I’m forever ruined. Noelle W. Ihli writes with perfect clarity. I was in the scene in cabin twelve and the old mill witnessing the murders and smelling the fried dough in the plaza. It played out like a movie in my mind. It’s stunning how she writes these words that brings these stories to life. I’m a forever fan with only having read three books.…Wherever she gets her concepts or ideas from certainly is working for her. I’ve never read anything like these stories. These are genuine storylines fully explained with originality and uniqueness. My mind is blown away by the attention to detail when writing those haunting scenes.…Noelle W. Ihli taps into scary details superbly. She captures the essence of fear within the characters as well as the readers with amazing insight and talent. She’s a top notch writer with crazy wicked writing skills.… I promise you this is a scary AF read. It’s a dark cold place where it’s easy for a killer to hide and wait for his victim to arrive. The fear is tangible with the reality that it’s real what is happening. If this were a movie I would watch with the lights on. I’m a big chicken when it comes to horror films and let me tell you this one will rattle your bones and give you nightmares.

Title: Predictible Slasher without any Real Meat
Review: What I like best about my newly found author Noelle W Ihli, is that she is "pedal to the metal,' all the way through her stories. It's always "just one more chapter," for me, much like Taylor Adams. She definitely has an Adams vibe. I love books that just rocket along, so when I found Room for Rent and tore through it, I had high hopes for The Thicket.Unfortunately, The Thicket fell short. The dark rooms, the dark, muddy cornfield...who would want to go in a dark, cold cornfield? The cold kept bothering me. These kids were dressed in sexy scraps covered by heavy weather gear. Why? The kids were also not very endearing, as is with the "Slasher" formula, and whoever got killed next didn't matter. Everyone's cell batteries ran out, were down to 5 or 1% or didn't have service (this happens in all her books)Hence, this story had precious little to tell. There is a word that Ms. Ihli uses to infinitum which gets me annoyed - and that word is "brain." My brain was spinning, it crashed into my brain, etc. More alternate words please! I read Run on Red next and was again bothered by too much "brain," however, I noticed that the last quarter of the book suddenly stopped using the word, and substituted words like "thoughts" "think" and "mind." Yay! I'll be she finally got an editor who caught the repetition. In conclusion, The Thicket was a solid 3 star, not terrible - not great. Fortunately, my copy of Run on Red had gotten lost - and returned (!) so I got to speed through it next at the writer's satisfyingly breakneck pace, and I'm happy again. That was fun!Everyone has a lesser performance, so it's not a problem. I'll be buying more from this roller coaster of a writer.

Title: A Truly Enjoyable Slasher Story
Review: This fast paced novel doesn't waste a page. It's a lean, mean slasher story that develops the characters and the setting nicely while delivering on the action. It's a true page turner and is hard to put down. You'll be thinking about The Thicket after it's done. I'm going to add Noelle W. Ihli's other books to my cart right now!

Title: 3.5 STARS...Teen slasher story
Review: It's not my favorite from this author, but I liked it more than the reviews suggested I would. It's very YA angsty teen filled, so knowing that going in makes it harder to be annoyed by teenage hormones and shenanigans. There are some chapters from the POV of the killer, a seemingly normal guy devoid of personality other than blood lust. Most of the time the POV is from the teens, who mostly act like self-absorbed teens. This isn't a Scooby Doo-type story, the author isn't afraid to kill off some characters. The ending felt a little over the top, just like most slasher movies. There's room for a sequel if the author wants. It was quick and entertaining enough for me.

Review: I loved this book, read in a day. The atmosphere of the park, guests and that hint of fear at every corner is what made me keep reading. It reminded me of the classic Halloween movie with the mask, he stalks and watches. I like the fact the horror was not too visual/gory, and mostly off page, for me this is my kind of horror. Keeps the mystery. There is a lot of teen drama and young girl talk, I love YA so didn't mind, it added to the story, just keep in mind this does read like YA not a hard boiled horror. Loved it. Especially the sounds of corn stalks!

Review: It’s rare to come across a genuinely spooky thriller. This was expertly weaved together and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was reading this during my work day and kept anxiously trying to sneak more in between working. Really well done story. I’m excited to see either a sequel or more work from this author.

Review: The Thicket by Noelle W. Ihli - Horror/ThrillerOh my goodness if you like Horror thrillers you’ll love this.We all know those places we go to get scared witless on Halloween with actors that jump out at you I remember going to one at an old fort ( never again ) when I was younger.Well the Thicket is that place. A sprawling haunted forest with cabins and a corn maze. Norah Lewis has never liked haunted houses but gets roped into taking her younger brother to The Thicket. Instead of accompanying him through the trail she decides to wait at the exit. It’s a decision she will replay again and again. Everyone who passed cabin 12 ignored the screams for help, they sounded like all the others. Later security footage shows the killer walked right through a crowd of thrill seekers and straight passed Norah - his clothes stained red.To her horror and the neighbourhood The Thicket reopens as soon as the crime scene tape is down. The screams are louder than ever, thrill seekers including many of her class mates clamour to get tickets to the newly named “Real” haunted house.Norah herself plans to go back to the scene of the murder desperate for answers. But the killer hasn’t chosen his hunting ground at random and like everyone else he plans on another visit himself !This book was great and an easy read. Can easily imagine this being made into a horror film. Such a simple but brilliant idea because of course at an event such as these ‘someone might hear you scream but no one will listen’Horror thriller that’s definitely up there ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
