“No one tells a story like Mary Giuliani, and she does it with great recipes, too! To read her deeply personal memoir is to feel that you've connected with a dear friend who's thoughtful, funny, and truly unique.” —Ina Garten

A hilarious, touching, and mouthwatering memoir from caterer to the stars Mary Giuliani, weaving together her one-of-a-kind memories from her life in the culinary industry and her personal journey as a woman and mother—through which she never lost her love for everyone's favorite party food, pigs in a blanket.

Throughout Mary's utterly unremarkable childhood on Long Island, all she wanted was to fit in (be Jewish) and become famous (specifically a cast member on Saturday Night Live). Instead, she accidentally landed what she now refers to as "the breakthrough role of a lifetime": catering glamorous events for a glittery list of stars she once hoped to be part of herself.

Fresh, personal, and full of Mary's humorous, self-deprecating, and can-do attitude against all odds, this page-turning memoir follows every shiny silver tray of hors d'oeuvres to adventures Mary could have never imagined. You never know when the humble hot dog will be a crucial ingredient in the recipe for success, in building a business or simply making life more delicious.

Title: What a fun read, but don't read it when you're hungry!!
Review: I really enjoyed this light hearted book. It bounced around a bit but the story remained routed in family friends and food. I absolutely love the recipes included with the stories.

Title: A funny, thoughtful, emotionally articulate book - BUY IT
Review: I don't know if you felt this way but I really felt like Mary's book was like having a conversation with her. A vibrant, wine and hot dog filled conversation! Mary's charm and career journey is so relatable and I loved her adult miscalculations and hindsight views. A particularly vibrant scene was the move to the living room the size of a tennis court apartment upstate. I know how this sounds but it really made sense to me how Mary and her husband thought this was the next right step but it served to provide space between them. It's Mary's world and I am glad to live in it!!!

Title: Great stories. Lots of laughs, some tears, but mostly laughs!
Review: This book introduces you to someone who is perfectly imperfect. You feel like you are BFFs when the book is finished, but you are sad when it is finished, because you don't have Mary's information to meet her at the movies, or to chat about Bobby De Niro, Alec Baldwin, and SNL. I feel the urge to watch The Karate Kid (again) and attend a hot party in the Hamptons, but really I want to read the book again so that I can memorize all of Nancy's rules. Mary is a fabulous story teller and reminds us all that Generation X is just ... plain ... awesome.

Title: Mary is like a best friend
Review: Do you have a favorite item of clothing - you know the one that you put on and are instantly comfortable? Or have you ever met someone that you know the instant you meet them, they are going to be in your life for a long time. That is what this book is like. You instantaneously know that you are going to like Mary and you are going to want to have a tiny hot dog and a martini with her and be her best friend. A quick and well-written read, you should put this book on your spring/summer reading list as soon as possible.
