Title: Have realistic expectations
Review: The key to enjoying this item is to have realistic expectations. Itâs not going to preform in the same way as a much more expensive machine. That being said, Iâve had a really great experience so far. There is a pretty steep learning curve and my first few attempts were not so successful. Here are some things that Iâve learned that have attributed to my success:1. It is small. Like two scoops small. Donât overfill it or youâre going to have a bad time. If you have two kids you might think about buying two of these. (It also needs a full 24 hours of freezer time between uses.)2. Make sure to have everything ready to go. It will immediately start freezing around the edges once liquid is added.3. Donât make the mixture too thick. Liquid consistency is better.5. Have enough fat in your recipe. Less fat means more ice crystals and less creamy texture.6. The lid doesnât exactly lock in place. It does have some grooves that it will click into. After you set the lid on turn the lid and you can feel it click into place.7. Youâre not going to get rock hard ice cream like at the store. Itâs more along the lines of soft serve. If you wanted a more ice cream like consistency youâd need to freeze it after churning. If thatâs what you want just buy the big ice cream machine.I have only used this for frozen yogurt but it works really well. I out about a cup of plain Greek yogurt 5% fat) in a bowl and add some almond milk and a splash of half and half. Then I add whatever flavoring or fruit that I want and stir it all up. I get the best results when it is liquid or near liquid in consistency. Iâve found itâs a good way to get extra protein while still satisfying the ice cream cravings.Itâs easy to clean. The paddle detaches from the motor. It comes with a plastic spoon. I havenât used any other spoons but I donât think metal is a good idea. I hand wash everything and it doesnât take much time.

Title: Doesn't meet expectations
Review: I had high hopes, but was initially disappointed. You must place the cup in the freezer for at least 24 hours to get the cup thoroughly frozen in order for it to work. The recipes that are included are acceptable. You can adapt them to your personal preference. However the supplied recipes are in quantities that are too much for the cup which seems odd. Prepare to do some recipe math! What works simpler for me is to pour cream, half-in-half, yogurt, or juice, in a cup with a size that roughly matches the ice cream making cup. I then add any other ingredients, sweeten and flavor to taste, then set the mix in the refrigerator to chill. It's fun to be creative and customize the mix. I don't find the motor and paddle helpful; he cup itself is all you really need. If the cup is well frozen and you add chilled ingredients then you can simply stir scraping the sides of the cup and you will soon have a milkshake or icy consistency. It seems quicker than using the motor and paddle. The paddle doesn't scrape the edges of the cup well enough. After I mix by hand and I have a milkshake, I can return the cup to the freezer and leave it there for a few hours if I desire to obtain a hard ice cream. I love the milkshake consistency therefore I typically drink the milk shake then I rinse the cup and return it to the freezer right away so it is always ready to use. It's a nice way to have ice cream or cold drinks in my RV with minimal space taken up in the freezer. It makes an ice cold drink without having to store ice. The cup itself is useful and I plan to continue using it. Unfortunately, the motor is probably not worth the space it takes up. Price vs value: I am of the opinion it is slightly overpriced. However, consider it is not out of the price range of other similar type cups. I suggest you consider the cup liners when deciding on a purchase. I have another brand that has a plastic lining and it does not work as well as this brand which has a metal lining.

Title: Compact and Easy to Use
Review: I have a fancy upscale ice cream maker but I only need to make one pint or so every so often. This little gadget does the job for me. I don't eat ice cream every day. I can make a pint or so and hold the extra mixture for the next day.Be aware, you really can't make two batches in a row. It has to refreeze and I give it a full 24 hrs. for refreezing. I've not been disappointed. The ice cream is soft so I usually put it in the freezer for about 30 mins to firm up. It doesn't take up much space in the freezer. I am very, very please. But if you need 1/2 a gallon, use a full sized ice cream maker. Finally, it cleans up easily. Follow the direction for care. Only the freezer portion goes in your freezer. The remaining parts can go on a shelf next to your coffee/tea mug.

Title: Let's Be Serious... It is a Toy
Review: I am a big fan of DASH mini appliances because they remind me of being a chIld. The "Easy Bake Oven" toy that I never had. Well this ice cream maker is just a cute toy that merely chills your ice cream ingredients so you can place them in the freezer for firming. I have a real ice cream maker and in truth I have rarely served firm ice cream directly from it without having to freeze it prior. I mainly purchased this little item to help me make frozen yogurt desserts. I also like using frozen fruit that has been blended with a touch of milk to be frozen as a form of ice cream. It is very quiet compared to my ice and rock salt contraption. The size is perfect for one person that wants a small amount of frozen dessert. Just know in advance that is all you are going to make is a dairy slurry. Not ice cream.

Review: It does make a tasty vanilla ice cream. There is only one recipe for ice cream, vanilla. I made up the recipe and it filled the frozen insert three times. The freezing insert must be frozen 24 hours, empty, before you can make another batch. The ice cream recipe is not sugar free, it uses 3/4 cup sugar. Hence only 4 stars.

Review: Not hard to use but finicky. I poured the mix in and then was distracted for a minute. I couldn't fit it together. Then I realized that the cream had frozen to the sides enough that I couldn't get the the paddle in,I had to wait until it melted then freeze again and no matter how I did it I could only get soft serve consistency. Not a bed product just a bit silly. I think that I would consider the larger size and make less.I think that the engineering of it is pretty good. The taste of the ice cream with artificial sweetener is great so it works well it is just not enough to share, and the waiting to refreeze spoils that. A little bit larger would make it more useful
