Title: Beautiful Beast That Does The Job - MQ5025 Vario, Black, Corded
Review: 10/30/24: I am so happy with this, and it's so much better than my old one, that even if it died tomorrow I'd order a new one without hesitation. Everything about it is a substantial upgrade. Plus it's easy to use and all the accessories just add to the fun.I'm primarily using it for protein shakes right now because that's what I need. The wand with the blade is perfect for my use and I use an OXO Good Grips 4-Cup Squeeze & Pour Silicone Measuring Cup to blend and pour. The extra space in the cup keeps the mess off my counter. Really like the two speeds, but I use the higher one for my shakes.The included cup is huge and a great size. My only want is that it had a lid for storage in the fridge.10/27/24: Just arrived today. This is a replacement for an older MQ that was a workhorse for me for a long time. And I didn't baby it. Still runs well but it was time for an upgrade. Out of the box the MQ5025 is beautiful and a VERY NICE upgrade. I haven't tested it yet but once I do I'll adjust my rating and review based on my findings. Meanwhile, 3-stars to start until I can see what this gorgeous, corded, beast can do.

Title: Lives Up To The Hype
Review: Like a lot of people, I bought this because the NYT Wirecutter recommended it as the best immersion blender out there.I like that it has variable speeds, and quick access to full power with a separate button so you don't need to try to turn the speed dial while it is running. It is a very ergonomic design, easy to hold and control, and it seems to have plenty of power.I decided that ultimately, I like that the little hood that covers the blade doesn't have any gaps or holes in it. To be clear, that design choice is somewhat of a mixed bag. Some other immersion blenders have gaps or perforations in the hood to help circulate the material better, but at greater risk of splashing. The main downside of this closed hood design is when you want to whip air into eggs or whatever, it requires pulling the head almost entirely out of what you are mixing, repeatedly. Not a big deal, and I think that, overall, it is more important to keep stuff from splashing vs. the incremental benefits of slots in the hood, but it is a noticeable change from how my last hand blender worked.Cleaning it is easy. I hand wash the beater but the instructions say you can theoretically throw it in the dishwasher.I bought the basic one without all the attachments. I also bought a separate, metal milkshake cup, which I use with this constantly for everything, not just milkshakes. They give you a thin, plastic mixing cup, but I learned the hard way that even very solid glassware is really not up for being used with a hand blender. You can get away with it for a while, but it puts absurd stress on the glass. So I don't expect the thin plastic cup to fare much better. Do yourself a favor and get a metal milkshake cup to use with this if you don't already have one, they are cheap, oversized, indestructible and make using a hand blender so much easier.

Review: I use this often. I don't typically prepare food for many people, so the size is perfect for my needs. I love that it's metal, had a plastic one in the past and it didn't last. I use this for hot soups as well as cold foods that would otherwise need a food processor. Love it!

Title: Great Blender! Powerful yet Quiet
Review: I love this immersion blender. It is more powerful than a regular hand mixer. It's big, but the blender blade arm is detachable and washable. It is relatively quiet for its size. I bought an Amazon return item that was scored as 'Excellent' condition and it is in EXCELLENT [meaning brand new] condition. All pieces in the box were in the original wrapping and the cord was still in the original twist-tie. The box looked a bit worn. I couldn't be happier with this Braun Immersion Blender and with the 25% off from Amazon b/c it was a 'Returned' item.Tip: If this is your first Immersion Blender, and you use it to mash cooked vegetables in a pot, resist the urge to press the blender down to the bottom of the pan. If you do, chances are you will clog the blender head. The blades will still turn, but the head will not chop up the veg as fast as if you take it slow and don't proceed to the next spot until you feel or hear the unit operating freely. Then move to your next blending spot in the pan.
