An ordinary family man, geologist, and Mormon, Soren Johansson has always believed he’ll be reunited with his loved ones after death in an eternal hereafter. Then, he dies. Soren wakes to find himself cast by a God he has never heard of into a Hell whose dimensions he can barely grasp: a vast library he can only escape from by finding the book that contains the story of his life.

In this haunting existential novella, author, philosopher, and ecologist Steven L. Peck explores a subversive vision of eternity, taking the reader on a journey through the afterlife of a world where everything everyone believed in turns out to be wrong.

Review: Funny, profound, depressing are the words I would use to describe a short stay in hell. A quick read that’s worth your time.

Title: Great short story
Review: Excellent mix of psychological horror, Lord of the Flies and Dante's Inferno (but probably closer to Purgatario). Would definitely recommend.

Title: Pew! A novel take on Hell.
Review: A great novel. Thought-provoking. Sad, depressing, mesmerizing - yet humorous and fun on a weird way. A rather unique piece! Great work Mr. Peck! 🙏🏼

Title: droll read
Review: An interesting droll read, that - even as silly as it is - leaves one to ponder eternity and come away depressed and hopeless. Zoroastrianism ... hmm; who would have guessed? The story ended abruptly as if the author simply got tired and melancholy from telling it.

Title: An interesting thought experiment on the infinite
Review: I recall reading somewhere that to picture forever, imagine a mountain. Once every hundred years, an eagle lands on the highest point and sharpens its beak on the rock. When the mountain has been worn to nothing but sand, the first day of eternity will have passed.I also think of Terry Pratchett, describing the gods of Discworld as "facing eternity with the kind of minds that are at a loss for what to do on a rainy Sunday afternoon."The only merciful way to experience forever is the way we all did it before we were born: nonexistence.A good read. Fascinating to consider.
