Title: A light read imparting a deep understanding of life lived.
Review: A wonderful unexpected series of vignettes that I couldn't put down. Aoyama captures the beauty and complexity of the "ordinary" life events. The translation is beautiful.

Title: Charming and sweet in a good way
Review: Written as seemingly unrelated stories, with only the library as the common thread, the author writes about people trying to deal with everyday problems. Reading the book seemed like a little journey to modern Japan and getting to know some of the people there. Sadly, there are no actual cookies, mentioned in the book, available to try.

Title: Michiko Aoyama - "What You Are Looking For is in the Library
Review: Made me think and think a lot. I liked all of the characters and I like how all of the characters find what they need in the library. It was a simple kind of novel, but the characters were so interesting that each of their journeys were extremely enlightening. I usually don't read books like this but Michiko Aoyama's novel was hard to put down.

Title: Sometimes the Answers are Right in Front of You
Review: This is a sweet and gentle tale about opportunities and how they are everywhere and entwined within each human interaction.A young woman in the early stages of a career who is questioning her choices, a man approaching middle age who is dreaming of making a living doing something he loves, a new mother who finds herself penalized at work for having a child, a young man viewing the approach of middle age with nothing to show for his days since leaving school and a newly retired man who suffers not only a loss of usefulness and identity, but longs for the joy of human interaction and a return of purposefulness to his life. They all find themselves struggling with overwhelming questions that a mysterious librarian, at a local community center, with an unusual hobby, helps them to navigate.

Title: very cute and wholesome!
Review: This book is an anthology of seemingly unrelated stories that occur in the same town and focus on the impact of a librarian on the lives of library patrons. I enjoyed the stories themselves and the way they intertwine ever so slightly in the end. The writing style itself was not my favorite but the themes were cute. This was a short and sweet little book.

Title: Emotionally rewarding wisdom
Review: I have a love of books, reading and libraries, so was drawn to this book. I have not been so emotionally affected by a book in a long time. Instead of chapters, there are short stories, with all the characters interwoven into the different stories, as well as each being the primary character in their own story. The titular library holds the collection together. Each story also offers an important life lesson. I very much enjoyed this book and highly recommend it for all.

Title: Wonderful Book
Review: One might dismiss this book as trite and repetitive of the same mantra that we hold the key to our own contentment via living among and with our fellow humans. And that every human interaction can open up a myriad of possibilities and ways. Yet, it bears retelling, because we are each different enough in our way and we take different paths even if we’re in similar situations. For me, this book was just what I needed and it was good karma to find and read it at this very moment. It may be just what you need right now as well, give it a go.

Review: I suppose I'm a huge fan of Japanese Fiction now! This book was such a relaxing and uplifting read and so full of hope.The book is made up of six short stories about people of different ages, each with their own unique circumstances. I think every reader will find at least one character that they can relate to. I really enjoyed making the connections between the characters as the stories eventually intertwined. I could read this book again and again and get a different message each time.Overall I found the book moving, inspirational and wholesome. Would definitely recommend.

Review: Never read a Japanese authored book before and this came as pleasant surprise for me:) The book even though very simple and easy read yet makes you think for yourself and stays with you long after you read it. It's kind of motivational and inspiring book for all ages and makes you want to take that next step for whatever you were doubting yourself till now to reach your destination. I think we all need a push at some point in our life just to have that self realization of what we are missing out on in life. This book gives you just that... must read for self discovery.
