Title: Super easy to use
Review: I wanted to dip my toe into the induction cooking pool before committing to a full size range, so I picked up this shiny fella. You probably already know the pros and cons of induction cooking in general, so I'll stick to the particulars. The Pro Chef made it to the top of my list for a few reasons:+ Larger coil size (8")+ Capacitive touch controls (tac-switches wear out)+ Fine temperature control (5˚F increments)+ Reasonable price (plus it was on sale)The Pro Chef is a pleasure to operate. The touch controls are responsive enough, but not overly-sensitive. There are 6 buttons for quick temperature settings. "Low" through "Max/Sear". These get you in the neighborhood, then you can fine-tune with "+" and "-" buttons. Pressing "Start" without selecting a temperature gets you "Med-Hi" (375˚) which is handy. It does what it's supposed to do. Being able to adjust in 5˚ increments is really nice. The set temperature doesn't correspond very closely to actual, though. I tested by heating a small (4 inch) pot with about 2 cups of water. The measured temp was considerably higher:Set Meas.100 125110 147120 159130 171140 189150 198160 207170 212175 Rolling boilThe temperatures do seem to be pretty repeatable, so not the worst thing ever. Set to 170, my unit kept the water right at boiling; heat switching on and off every couple seconds. Whenever I get around to deep frying something, I'll extend my measurements above 212˚F.Being able to quickly switch temperatures is great. Cooking pancakes, I can drop the temp down to med-low to avoid burning the butter between batches, then bring it back up right before adding batter.Maybe the most impressive thing is being able to heat milk (e.g. for making paneer) without scalding. I can set it to 150 with a pot full of milk, lid on, and walk away. It's not any faster necessarily, but not having to worry about milk-froth exploding all over my stovetop is pretty special. If you lift the pan off the surface, it will pause cooking, but as long as you return it within a few seconds it will come back on, so you can toss or tilt the pan without having to reset. Pretty sweet!I haven't found a use for the programming feature yet, but I guess that's pretty cool.Cleaning couldn't be easier. It's just a sheet of glass. Unplug before wiping it down, since a wet rag can randomly set off controls.A few nit-picks:- The fan is pretty loud and it runs whenever it's heating.- It's a bit bulky compared to the other PIC models- The big NUWAVE logo in the center is pretty low-class compared to the rest of the design.Overall, I'm thoroughly happy with the purchase and have drunk the induction Kool-aid.

Title: Works really well for me
Review: I purchased a unit from a different manufacturer and returned it because it did not seem to work very well, and would never boil a pot of water, Even after 20 minutes. This unit works very well and I’m very happy with it. It heats the pan amazingly quickly, and is easy to adjust the temperature of the pan. It’s a little more expensive but worth it. It’s very easy to clean as it just has one solid glass top that is easy to wipe down. The controls are very easy to operate and you can control the heat by either wattage or temperature. The fan in the unit is quiet and is just a very slight hum. Would definitely recommend this product.

Title: Way better than gas or electric
Review: I am refitting a boat that has a 4-burner GE Profile glass cooktop (1988 vintage). My first thought was to install gas, but a friend convinced me to try induction so I bought this burner to try it. Wow. This thing is awesome. I'm going to redo the countertops anyway and will have them modded to recess 2 of these where the old cooktop is (I rarely use 3 burners bc I also have a convection oven). With any of the electric cooktops I've used -- including new high end ones -- there was always a lag between turning the heat up or down and an actual change in temperature. Stuff burned, or took forever to cook. There was also the lag waiting for the burner to heat up. This unit changes temperature immediately because the heat comes from the magnetic waves. Cut the waves and the temp drops instantly. Plus, the "high-medium-low" rheostats on most cooktops are imprecise, so you're always guessing. And some cooktops maintain temperature by "pulsing" power to the burner, so rather than holding a constant temp, it's constantly going on and off. The NuWave adjusts in 5-degree increments, and it holds that temp steady with no pulsing. There's an extra low that's great for simmering sauces without breaking them all the way up to extra high for searing steak. To get the most control use a light pan with low thermal mass that doesn't retain heat. I use my antique cast iron a lot (high thermal mass) and it's still very responsive, but the fastest changes come using my lightweight stainless steel pans. I did a lot of research and bought the Pro model because of its touch controls (some reviewers noted that the buttons on other models wear over time). Also, most dual burner configurations (NuWave and others) share the maximum 1800 watt output between the burners, so you only get max output when one of the burners is off. I like the styling except for that huge honking logo on the burner, but I'll live with it to get the performance. I've been cooking with this daily for a couple of months and I haven't turned my old cooktop (it's still there) on once. Fast, accurate and super easy to clean (boiled over pasta water and chili spatter wipe right off). 5 stars.

Title: Works well for maple syrup making
Review: The product seems very well built. There is some cooling fan noise when the unit is on.I used it to boil down concentrated maple sap from my small sugar bush for the first time this year. I likely have run it for about 80 hours so far. It worked well, not as quick as propane but much safer. The controls are well marked and fairly intuitive. I like the adjustable heat settings and, along with the timer I could just set it and do something else for a bit.I did find out that I can easily trip a breaker if I run this at 1800 watts and a large shop vac on the same circuit!I would definitely buy this again.
