In the eyes of London Society, Gillian Phelps is suitable enough. Though the ton whispers about her change of residence, any speculation remains just that: ballroom gossip. No one—not even the other Huntresses, the group of ladies she calls her dearest friends—knows that she is harboring a devastating family secret. Gillian has become adept at hiding the reality of her circumstances, but the close quarters of a house party will test her ability to conceal the crushing truth. And with so many people to deceive, the late arrival of another guest is a most unwelcome surprise.
Despite his standing as a gentleman of the ton, in truth, Scott Sarvol possesses little more than two debt-riddled estates. When an opportunity arises to survey one of his properties, he travels north, only to find himself an unwitting guest at Artemis Jonquil’s house party. He is warmly welcomed by all—except the aloof Miss Gillian Phelps. But when Scott proves himself unexpectedly helpful in a crisis, his acquaintance with Gillian shifts from wariness to something warmer.
As both her charade and her feelings for Scott deepen, Gillian realizes that the truth could spell not only a devastating fall from Society but also a shattered heart.

Title: Delightful story
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed the progress of Scott and Gillian's relationship. The witty dialog and sober problems very appropriate to this era were well written and kept me turning the page. The characters felt like good friends before it was done.

Title: great debut for the Huntress books!
Review: This book was interesting, and utilized new situations I hadnât heard about before. The storyline was anything but surface-level without being traumatic. I love this Jonquil world that Eden has created!

Title: Another fun love story from Sarah M. Eden!
Review: The Best Intentionsâ¨by Sarah M. Edenâ¨Book 1 in the Huntresses seriesâ¨Rating: 3/5As someone who is a big fan of the author, I was actually a little disappointed by this story. I found it enjoyable but not as much as the other books I've read from her. I don't know if it was the main characters or the plot but the story did not grab my attention the way other books from the author had. There is a certain sweetness to the book that is lovely and endearing but overall, I came away from the story unsatisfied and wanting more. I will definitely continue to read more books from the author and maybe you will have a different opinion about the story from me.The cover is gorgeous as always. The characters were sweet and supportive but maybe lacked some of the flavor that I have come to expect from the author. The plot felt weak to me. Do I want to read more about the Huntresses? Absolutely. But will I reach for this book again? Probably not.My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.

Title: Clean romance
Review: I love this author and her style of writing and I LOVE the characters she creates! This book is part of âThe Huntressesâ series but it dips into three other wonderful series with âThe Jonquilsâ and âThe Lancasterâ and âThe Gentsâ. It is a welcomed dip as these characters as some of my favorites. The world created is warm and inviting despite the life challenges the characters face and battle. This book is no different and doesnât disappoint. Both the hero and heroine have lost much in their lives and face hurtful behavior from people who should be kind. The growth and strength in each is inspiring especially when it is supported by family. I liked how family is found in many ways in this book.I recommend this book and I look forward to the next in the series!

Review: I am always slightly wary when the story has groups calling themselves a name, in the case The Huntresses. It was not too much of a distraction in this book, but it struck me that there seemed to be some back stories to some of the characters and it was almost as if we would know these, but this is the first book in the series? There are also some issues for me in the etiquette. A guestâs chaperone apparently over rules the hostesses ideas for party games. If said chaperone was that much of a stickler for etiquette being correct then surely they would not have been so dogmatic? Then the hero and heroine seem to spend an awful amount of time alone together, no real reference made to the impropriety of it. So itâs a good read but a few issues for me.
