Title: works well, useful, cheap finish
Review: I replaced a Schlage keyed deadbolt with this combination item. It works very well.A combination lock allows my kids to open the door without having to keep a key. While I used to be "latch key kid" myself, my own kids are never home alone. Nevertheless, I might send them to the door with bags/groceries etc. while I'm still at the car. When we come back from walking the dog, they can open the door for me. I have confidence knowing they'll never be locked out.A combination lock means my wife and I don't have to carry keys. My wife has an electronic fob for her car, and my car uses a switch and starter button (old school). Eliminating the house key means no more keys at all.Brass metal keys, including Schlage and Kwikset have too much toxic lead in them. So much that they've been sued by State's governments but they are unlikely to change. Not having to handle a key reduces exposure to lead. The lock functions well. It was easy to install (to replace existing deadbolt) and the result was the cylinder turns easily, it fits properly, and works smoothly. Locking and unlocking from inside is just a turn of the large lever. Locking from outside involves pushing the top "Schlage" button and turning the knob to lock the deadbolt. Unlocking from outside, you can either enter the 4 digit combo into the keypad and turn the knob, or you can press the Schlage button to illuminate the keypad and then enter the combo and turn the knob.A 4 digit combo is quick and secure enough for the level of security this whole product is intended for. It provides for more than 3000 possible combinations, so a brute force attack on the combination is not as likely as a brute force attack on the door jamb or window. This is not a high security product, as it is intended for doors that can be kicked in, breached with a ram, or bypassed. The buttons appear to be durable and not likely to soon reveal discrepancies in use, but the combination can be changed easily to level the use of different buttons. The lock also supports multiple combinations, and therefore temporary combinations.I looked at alternatives, but determined this simple option is best. I imagine future cars (and houses) will have two-factor authentication to use -- you'll need to have something (probably a digital certificate with private key on your smartphone device) and to know something (a PIN), but you'll probably have an (slightly less secure) option to pre-enter or save the PIN so that you'll be able to open the door or use the car just by being near it. This combination lock won't unlock just because you're nearby, but it is a pretty easy PIN to enter. I looked at alternatives that include Bluetooth or Wifi connectivity, but they all involved a proprietary service with subscription or a device that was too expensive and unproven.I don't have long term results for this product yet, but expect it will fair well for several years to come. The brushed nickel finish on my Schlage door set failed with peeling varnish after about 5 years. I would have thought it would be nickel plated, but apparently they coat it in some kind of plastic varnish and it comes off. Because of that, I also doubt this combo deadbolt product is really brushed nickel, but instead it is probably the same fake painted-on finish.Edit: It's 2 years later and this lock continues to work brilliantly. I bought another for the door between the garage and house. Before I bought the second, I looked into "smart" locks and what's available today. The best feature they offer is automatic locking/relocking so you don't have to remember to lock the door on the way out -- but any lock that uses a motor to move the deadbolt is going to run the battery down faster and will depend on good alignment of the bolt with the strikeplate. My door is not misaligned, but the reality is that changing temperature and humidity causes the door frame to move. I think I prefer to use a little muscle and lock the door myself rather than depending on Alexa to do it for me. With this lock, I don't even need to bother with a key to lock or unlock it. It's great.

Title: Solid, easy to install and use
Review: Money well spent. This lock was really easy to install. There is a QR code in the pamphlet inside the box that has great visuals and walks you through it. There are also printed instructions but I found the QR Code to be way easier. I tested the key as well and noticed I had to kind of push on it to get it to engage, but it worked. I wish it allowed you to program a code that was more than 4 digits. Codes are easy to change and add. Backlit numbers are really bright, too!

Title: The non-motorized deadbolt works reliably
Review: I have used these locks on multiple rental properties over the past few years and love them. They look great, work reliably, and perform solidly. The benefit of this vs other electronic locks is that the deadbolt turns manually as opposed to with a motor. This ensures that the deadbolt can lock correctly even if there is some friction on the lock for some reason. I also like that the back of the lock has to be removed via screws in order to remove/replace the battery. It's easily done but not so easy that kids might mess with it or it could disconnect if brushed up against. The tradeoff of this lock vs other "smart" locks is lack of wifi connectivity. That said, adding/removing access codes is quick and easy, and the lack of wifi offers its own security benefits.

Title: Great Build, Strong Deadbolt, Modern & Clean Design but Lacking Advanced Programming
Review: First, let me start buy saying you should buy this item from WarehouseDeals. Amazon WarehouseDeals almost never lets me down with their used items. I have bought kitchen faucets to 4k TVs from Amazon's used warehouse. The only thing that sucks about WarehouseDeals is that they do not offer One-Day shipping. I got this lock in Bright Chrome because it was the cheapest ($56). That is a steal compared to its asking price ($100). So for half the price I was very pleased with this lock. Even if I paid $100 I think I wouldn't regret it.Amazon Warehouse Deals Review:Condition of lock = 5/5 , Wouldn't have been able to tell if it was even usedPackaging = 4/5 , Not perfect but everything was in the box, wouldn't say it has elegant packaging like Apple ProductsPrice = 5/5 , Half the price ladies and gents! Thats A++Schlage Lock Review:Physical Quality & Craftsmanship = 5/5 , This thing looks and feels heavy duty (The bright chrome almost makes it look plasticy however) & it surprisingly isn't a fingerprint smudge magnetLock Quality & Mechanism = 5/5 , I really like how this thing locks. You must press the Schlage Button and then turn the lock. I'm glad it isn't automatic because the more mechanical parts to this thing means the more chance of malfunction. You can only imagine what would happen if this thing automatically dead bolted your door. If your door doesn't fit perfectly like mine (I have to pull my door in and then deadbolt it) then you imagine this thing trying to push the deadbolt into a solid wood frame.Security Options & Passcode = 3/5 , What I wanted more from this lock was to be able to set longer passcodes, (please correct me if I am wrong but you can only have a 4 digit code), I think 4 digits is too easy to guess and easy to see. The lock is also missing a security feature such as punching # or * before or after your passcode, something that makes it longer or harder than 4 digits. I also like locks like these that implement a trick feature where you can enter a apart of your passcode and then enter nonsense random digits into the system and then enter the rest of your passcode for it to unlock to confuse whoever is watching.Ease of Install = 5/5 , I definitely think this is an almost universal install. If you already have a deadbolt installed you don't have to do much at all. Just unscrew you plating from your old lock, remove the old deadbolt, slide this new one in and add the casing with the battery and everything properly plugged in, and be sure to make sure the cam lock is facing up.Overall = 4/5 , I did really want more passcode options but it is a great lock and for a great low price (again correct me if I am wrong about this I would be very much appreciative but I didn't see anything in the manual about more than 4 digits). Now I have no need for the second bottom lock so I removed my doorknob and replaced it with a matching Schlage passage knob. Deadbolt is the best and safest way to go.Would I recommend to a friend? Yes! it's the 21st century! Out with pointless key locks and in with pin codes and fingerprints.Advice or Suggestions before buying? Buy it, don't tell anyone your passcode, be sure to tell your landlord if you have one and maybe you won't have to give him a spare key (just tell him to call for the pin if he ever needs emergency access) and most of all, save some money and buy it from Warehouse Deals! Thanks for reading!

Review: I have this on my front door now, and bought it again in antique brass for my new home. I haven't changed the battery once in 3 years, but it's used multiple times a day.A trusted locksmith friend of mine highly recommended this model, and only uses Schlage in his own home, so I had him install it. Make sure your deadbolt hole is cut for 2 1/8" at a minimum - had to enlarge two older doors but after that, easy to install without pro help.It is very smooth to operate and feels good to turn the cylinder by hand to lock/unlock, you don't even need a key. Of course keys work fine in a power outage or if you don't want to use the codes. You can leave home without your key and know you can still get in, because this is a "dumb" lock and doesn't need a network. Where batteries in the Schlage Encode last a good número of months, this lasts years,The first thing I did was add my own codes, change the programming code and delete the two factory user codes - you can factory reset from inside the house to the defaults printed on a sticker in the manual anytime.I can't recommend this enough, it looks very nice, works beautifully, and is easy to program. Measure your deadbolt hole before you order, but other than that, go for it!
