They say the best laid plans…

Spencer Hayden is lying to himself.

He’s been telling himself for years that he doesn’t need a family. He doesn’t need anyone.

He just got out of the military and he thinks that the freedom to go and do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, is going to make him happy.

The plan is to drive around the country, working the odd job here or there so that he doesn’t deplete his savings.

Then he lands in Sunny Bend, Wyoming and meets Emmy Lou Harris.

Emmy Lou is happy with her life.

Sure, she’s a little lonely ever since her grandparents died, but she has everything she needs; a good job and friends.

Then Spencer walks into her bookstore and turns her world upside down.

You know what they say about the best laid plans.

They often go awry.

Title: Sweet
Review: I really enjoyed this one and it makes me regret leaving it in my tbr pile for so long. The grovel was just right, which is rare in a short story.

Review: Safe and sweet. I kept picturing the country singer Emmy Lou Harris every time I heard her name lol-no cheating-no ow/om drama-virgin heroine/ no info on hero-no violence-pushing away by hero/ separation of one week-epilogue 2 years and 10 years later

Title: She’s my happily ever after.
Review: Finally! Finally a heroine who doesn't forgive quickly and a grovel from a hero that lasts longer than a page. Loved that she made him work for her forgiveness. Virgin h, no deets on H's past, no abuse, no om/ow drama, epi's at 2 years and 10 years.

Title: Great Grovel, but Could’ve Used More Depth
Review: ~3.5 stars~My favorite part of this story was Emmy Lou standing up for herself and not falling all over Spencer at the first hint of an apology. As with most romance novels, there was conflict in this book, and I’ve come to expect a good grovel—and this book delivered. Spencer was smitten with Emmy Lou from the start and after realizing his mistake, he was determined to make it up to her. They really had great chemistry together, and I found both of their careers and life stories very interesting. I especially loved the second, extended epilogue. However, I felt there was too much of a focus on physicality in this book, and I didn’t see evidence of a deep emotional connection. The attraction seemed somewhat superficial, even for an instalove story. Additionally, I just wasn’t all that impressed with Spencer as a hero. I was disappointed in his decisions, and in real life, I would’ve told Emmy Lou that she shouldn’t give him a second chance.Overall, this was an enjoyable, romantic short story that I would recommend to anyone looking for a sweet, quick fix.*I received an ARC of this novella. This is my complete and honest review.*

Title: I love Emmy Lou!
Review: First off, I love Emmy Lou! She owns a bookstore, loves to read. I could totally be friends with her. She is sweet and kind, loving; the whole package. When Spencer spots her and asks her out, I thought that he was blown over by her sweet nature and the attraction between them. Spencer is former military and he has a plan to travel around, to not put down roots after following orders for so long. He didn't go out with women, he didn't stick around anyplace long enough. He starts to spend every night with her and they get closer every day. Everything is wonderful and then Emmy Lou says she loves him and suddenly he is ghosting her. What follows is gut wrenching, he literally changes in a split second. It took him a little time to come to his senses and Emmy Lou was righteously angry with him. There is some grovel but I really needed more, a lot more. Spencer goes back to being the man we first met but my feelings towards him are mixed. A good story with more emotional angst than I was expected, 4 stars.

Title: Vagabond finds a bookstore love
Review: After spending 8 years in the military being told what to do, Spencer likes the freedom he has gained to do what he wants when he wants. He's become a vagabond, moving town to town, job to job as the wind carries him. While living in Sunny Bend, Spencer helps a friend with his sky diving business. Trying to get out of a random rainstorm, he ducks into Book Addicts Bookstore and meets Emmy Lou Harris. Who doesn't LOVE a woman named after an iconic Country Music star? Not even Spencer was immune to that fact. A quick, almost rushed relationship emerges between these two until three little words are whispered. And Spencer gets cold body, not even cold feet and runs away, having planned to ghost Emmy Lou. She finds him as he is packing and is devastated with how he treated her. Spencer runs to his friend Wild (Wild Ride) and realizes he was an idiot, and races back to Sunny Bend and Emmy Lou. But she isn't convinced he is true with his words. He has to earn his way back into Emmy Lou's life and heart. This is a quick, amazing read by Shaw Hart. All the elements loved by Shaw are in this book, instalove, great stories, amazing characters and a desire to dive further in the storyline and wanting to know more about Shaw's world.
