Title: Great learning tool/toy for the classroom
Review: The kids in my primary age special needs classroom have taken to this quite well. These are sturdy block (40 in all) with a lot of different designs (100 cards) for the kids to copy and construct (similar to those tangram color-coded masters). The blocks are solid wood and vibrantly painted. There are a lot of design, plus an app (I don't use at school) that is available for more ideas. The box is durable enough to keep as a permanent storage container without falling apart, which is a nice bonus. It's a great way to work with follow directions, fine motor, and for beginning builders.

Title: Amazing educational toy with the guidance parents need!
Review: What a fantastic set! This set is fantastic for my 4-year-old, but it would have been even better to get it when she was really young. Besides the small, well-made and colorful wooden blocks in a nice sturdy magnetic box, the really nice part is the huge assortment of cards with different blocks and structures. The cards start very simple, with single blocks pictured for a child to pick out and match to the picture, encouraging shape and color identification without any reading or even words. The cards then continue to simple structures, and eventually more elaborate structures that require careful stacking, color, shape, and perspective use, and using all the blocks. There are spots to track your child's development on the back of the cards (or just pick a random card and see how fast your child can match the design before starting imaginative play, like we do).The more elaborate designs require slowing down and paying attention, promoting focus and thought, as well as physical dexterity with the taller, elaborate structures. The package says 3+, but if I had known about these, I would have had them from 1 year up to work on color and shape identification and fine motor skills. Colors were initially hard for our daughter to conceptualize when she first started speaking, and for a while we were worried she was color blind. This would be a great way to explore color before fully grasping the names and parts of speech involved with color, which are particularly tricky. As an older, first-time parent, I really, really appreciate the educational direction of the learning cards, giving me a guided way to work on concentration and skills with my daughter before we just start general play. And I love that they can be done without any reading, so if she wants to explore them on her own, she can do that, too.The box is well made, with a magnetic flap closure. There are 2 large sections and some additional packing inserts, which you can discard. The larger section is for the blocks (which first look a bit skimpy, but once they're unpacked, fill their whole side without careful placement--nice if you want to pick up in a hurry. All the cards fit in their own section.I didn't expect much from this set but was really wowed. The cards are really wonderful and make the set well worth the price.

Title: Blocks slip off
Review: The blocks are slippery and slide off each other. This makes the difficult builds even more challenging than it needs to be. Kids start throwing things and get defeated when their build keeps sliding off. Otherwise this set is wonderful.

Review: My kiddos love playing with blocks and this was a great addition to our house! They love all the shapes they can make and I like that you can get more designs for them online to work on too. Overall, we are very happy with it.

Title: Creative fun for all ages and abilities
Review: This is a great concept that will be of great value to parents of children of many different abilities. First, the gameplay is quite fun and easy. It can be customized to children of any age and ability. Don't think of this as a tool only for those with learning disabilities. For normally abled children I would say it can be enjoyed by kids up to age 7. I could also imagine that this could be used by your older kids with younger ones or with the entire family. The kit is a set of blocks that have a nearly infinite capacity to be formed into any configuration. There is a large set of cards that show random configurations of the blocks. Your child then tries to replicate what they see. There are images that go from extremely easy to very complex assemblages. It is a simple idea but will provide hours of fun for you and your child. One thing I really appreciated is that it's engaging for adults. It's fun to see how your child does and offer encouragement as they get closer to the desired shapes. How many games have you played with your child where you were bored out of your mind? This won't be one of them.Be sure to download the "Language Builder Blocks" app for your iPhone, Android, or iPad. There is a whole new level of play provided by the app. With the app, there are a variety of new images which you show to your child and have them try to replicate. There is a timer so you can time the child plus a button to confirm that the final construction was exact or just similar (valuable for more formal, institutional settings where performance is measured). Some of the images are configured to look like trains, birds, and other objects or animals, which will be fun for older children.Don't be concerned that you don't' have as many blocks in the kit as you might have imagined. The idea here is that the blocks are of varied shapes and colors and can be reconfigured into a multiplicity of shapes. It is the idea that is the focus here–and it is a good one.Additionally, for the creative parent this activity can be used in a variety of situations–with muliple children, of various ages, and so on. It can be a great boost to the creativity of us adults as well. Congrats to Stages Learning for creating a fun way to boost creativity for children of all abilities.
